Not an inspiring starting line up but i think it's maybe one designed not to lose the game in the first half. Hopefully some of the more 'exciting' players get let loose in the 2nd half...

Their whole argument about variants is that even though those that are yet to be vaccinated are less likely to get seriously ill, they have the potential to cause a lot of positive (and in most cases asymptomatic) results - the more the virus is able to spread the more chance that we end of with 'another' new mutation where they 'just don't know' about the effectiveness - that's why i think the number of folks vaccinated will be the driver (or at least the new one) in determining when things will really change.

For me i still think the footy will start as home fans only (which is why streaming will be allowed) and a % of total capacity. For most clubs i dont think it'll be too much of an issue as long as its a decent percentage of capacity - i think it is a real issue for the Old firm, Aberdeen, Hibs and Hearts as they consistently fill a greater proportion of their stadiums. For the like of my mob we have only been getting around 3.-4k and if it were home fans only, pre-booked tickets then there's no reason that we would have as much of a problem. It's a nonsense really but until nearly all adults have the double dose i can't see them allowing much more. The sooner they ramp up the vaccines and hopefully bring in the second jag timescales the better.

It would be not far from Buncrana we'd be going but the concern is it's nothing more than a holiday. We'd be in a remote area but a car with UK plates and a family isn't subtle, i can see how going on business would be ok but i have a feeling we'd be challenged at some point. Given how open the border is at Derry through to Buncrana then it 'might' be ok but i'm not sure i fancy trying.

Agree. We were trying to find out what needed to happen if we were to go to the South of Ireland this Summer (using the ferry from Cairnryan to Larne) - absolute minefield trying to work it out. As the Republic is in the common travel area it seems like it's causing confusion. Loads of things if you're going over - nothing if you're coming back. To get into Southern Ireland until the 19th July you'll still need a PCR test (even the kids if their over 7) even if you've had both doses of the vaccine - after then you'll be ok if you have proof of vaccination...any idea what Scot Gov are giving to help show this has happened? ....and don't get me started on the nonsense with trying to take the dog following the Brexit shambles!

I'd love to criticise but we've just appointed Peter Grant.... Seems strange to have been 'talking' for this long for it all to break down. Howe either had no intention of actually joining or he isn't going to get what he thinks he needs - Celtic have left themselves in a really bad position. What a shambles

I can't see anywhere near full crowds for the Euros - even at Wembley. Johnson will say whatever he thinks will keep him in favour. The fact that they seemed unwilling to publicise the local 'lockdowns' in Bolton etc. show that - he's doing his best not to have to backtrack on his restriction lifting/ normality statement. I'd love there to be full crowds in for games for the League Cup but think it's likely to still be a percentage of capacity allowed and home fans only for a wee bit longer than that. I don't agree with it but think that'll be the case. It obviously is off benefit to teams like Dunfermline where we have @3k season ticket holders, crowds of 4-45-.5k on a good day but a capacity of more than double that.

i believe it's because Scot Gov were doing them daily long after BoJo and his pals had stopped and Douglas Ross etc. thought that Sturgeon was using it as a political opportunity rather that a public information update so the BBC decided that they needed to show balance and have opposition heads on for opinion.

Still seeing nothing official bout the Kane stuff from any side which is a little unusual - i'd have at least thought the club would just deny it if it never happened? Can't blame Kane but with three years left i can't see him leaving unless there's silly money offered and that isn't going to happen this Summer. Could of course be Kane angling for more money/ longer contract but also trying to put pressure on Levy and Co. to actually spend some cash on a decent manager who he believes in and back that manager in the market...? Doubtful i know...

As soon as the rates started dropping to the numbers a few weeks ago there was no real need for a briefing every day. Even if the election hadn't happened i think they would have stopped for the weekly update in the Scot Gov. If the cases start to rise again to any significant number and there is a need for tiers to be moved up and down (or heaven forbid another national lockdown!!) then i've no doubt daily updates would be back.

The daily infection numbers are now at such a level that you also need to see where the cases are to understand if there is a national low level in each community or if a single cluster somewhere is keeping the numbers up. Either way we must be heading towards a situation where the numbers are 'acceptable' for things to move forward. I can't see any type of faster easing from ScotGov until the daily cases are under 100 a day for a while (nothing to base this on at all, just a feeling), that added to hopefully greater 1st vaccinations would make it exceptionally difficult for them to prevent anything currently tabled and put pressure on further easing after mid-May.

I think a lot of their plan is based on behavioural science and the 'fear' is that by allowing some to do it and not everyone there would be meet ups indoors between large groups that haven't been vaccinated. Basically i think they're saying that folks would just say that if 'they're' doing it then 'i'm' doing it. Good to see others are lifting restrictions completely (or nearly completely) for folks who've had the double dose - hopefully putting pressure on our governments. Reckon there may be a slight easing of the restrictions remaining post the election next week if the figures stay the same.

I was looking at the Scottish stats and noticed Glasgow and Edinburgh lagging for first doses. I've just assumed that it's because 'major' cities have a higher proportion of their population in the age groups yet to be vaccinated - probably way off the mark though.

As has been said before, like quite a few businesses they also can't just flick a switch and suddenly have all their planes back at the airports, all the pilots and staff back in place and be back at their pre-COVID capacities. It'll take a fair while for things to get back to anything near normality. Also seen this morning about the pubs down South maybe putting prices of pints up by about 40p to try and claw back some cash they've lost. I've a certain sympathy but it's a fine line to walk as customers could end up staying away of they decide the best option is just to increase prices.

Completely agree. I'd expect there would be minimal impact to hospital and ICU numbers given who is outstanding but even a 'decent' rise in positive cases could impact things like schools and workplaces from being re-opened as we'd like (in terms of regional/ workplace clusters) but i'd be amazed if it made the lifting of restrictions even slower....

i'd certainly hope so. The more first doses that they can get out as soon as possible the better. I wonder if its coincidence that the lockdown lifting is very slow given they must have known that first dose vaccine supply would be scarce (due to 2nd doses being due). Hopefully it'll ramp up again but as a good chuck of our supply comes from India it looks like they need it far more than we do right now...

Hope someone can help with this... My eldest has taken to making small home films using iMovie thanks to having the schools ipad at home during lockdown. My own iPad is now too old for IMovie to install/ upgrade and so are the phones (he's not getting my new phone to play with!!) We did get him and his brother a Samsung tab A for Christmas but as yet haven't seen a similar app to iMovie that could be used - anyone seen anything decent? I don't mind paying a few quid for a good app if there is one that is similarly easy to use. Thanks.

So, is today the day that the numbers in hospital drop below 100? Would be a great barrier to get through. Wife is still convinced we're all doomed and we'll be like this for the next year. Her latest is that our booked Centre Parcs holiday in late November will be restricted and we'll only get in the fancy pool once in our visit - get that right to f...!

I may have missed it (so apologies if thats the case) but has it been formally announced when those in the 45-49 (or 40-49) age groups should expect their appointment letters? I know that April was to be a bad month for new appointments but i'd still have expected my letter by now for an appointment in a few weeks time given the numbers already done...

Did i pick up correctly that as it's the Bank Holiday weekend we won't see hospital number updates till Tuesday next week? If so i'm hoping for a nice sub 200 in hospital and mid-high teens in ICU.

Having seen the Welsh First Minister saying this morning he thing social distancing will be needed for the rest of the calendar year the wife started agreeing and saying it's only normal as 'we could all get it as the vaccine isn't 100% effective. Even after trying to remind her that no vaccine is and this one seems more effective than normal, most folks will be vaccinated by late Summer and hospital and ICU rates are dropping she was adamant that there was a need for things to be retained for the whole year. I would understand if folks have an optional mask wearing policy for public transport/ certain places but no need for it to be mandatory in any way once the vaccination programme is completed. Even on the subject of international travel i don't think she'll leave here till the whole planet has a vaccination...really not thinking straight and the media messaging has really impacted her. ....its going to be a long 2021 in this house...
