  1. I agree that the top part over rules anything below, but not that the 2nd over rules the 3rd. It's definitely not a foul if a defender plays the ball onto his own hand under these rules. Hopefully be fine for the exam, did fine on the mock. Looking forward to getting back onto the pitch, even if I think I'll be gutted not to be playing... There's been about 50 or so folk going through this course, mostly under 20 or so years old. Hopefully keep them all and not have them scared off by arseholes.
  2. The situation described is almost identical to the examples used in the training about the new handball guidance. Theres a good video, I think from the Women's World Cup that shows it well. I'll see if I can dig it out for you. The part of the law you have quoted relates to it coming off another player, not the one whose hand it hits. The law is designed to be considered in the whole, not part by part. The 2nd bit doesn't overrule the 3rd bits any more than the lower bit overrules them. If it had been, or had been from a block/deflection rather than trying to /play/ the ball, then it would be a foul. That was the key distinction we were given for this. There might have been a clarification that I've missed, but this interpretation is what is being taught. I'll double check on Tuesday when I'm doing my exam.
  3. If it's from a block and it deflects up, it's a penalty (subject to the other conditions - ie unnaturally bigger). If, and it sounds like this is the case here, they have attempted to actively play the ball and it then hits the arm, it shouldn't be a penalty. Relevant part of the rule is: Except for the above offences, it is not usually an offence if the ball touches a player’s hand/arm: directly from the player’s own head or body (including the foot) Not always easy for a ref to quickly judge and get it correct with new rules, but that sounds like it shouldn't have been a penalty.
  4. Did the ball hit his hand before or after he kicked it? If it's after it shouldn't be a pen.
  5. Nothing to see here. Move along. Everything is fine. Willie leaving the board is totally ok and not at all related to the way that PH is running the club. Same as Gavin Spiers leaving wasn't. Same as Walter Spiers leaving wasn't. Same as Bobby Watson leaving wasn't. Same as Stuart Shields leaving wasn't. Let's all just ignore it and back the team, eh?
  6. Jal seems to win a penalty every other week!
  7. Good signing for you. Very direct, great pace and loves taking men on. Decision making sometimes poor, but that's to be expected for someone his age. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see him pushing for starts at Motherwell next year.
  8. I would imagine they'd rest him tonight given that he didn't train all last week with an injury. No point risking it for a diddy cup.
  9. He also wasn't our penalty taker for the majority of the year. Scored 2 or 3 at the end of the season, but given that our 2nd top scorer scored about 10 penalties, Ryan could have been well over 30 for the season. And it was no vintage Airdrie team he was playing in either.
  10. Just a wee word of warning for all Arbroath fans going to the game tonight - Dunfermline have had to increase ticket prices by £2 across the board in order to afford the transfer fee for Andy Ryan. Hope that doesn't cause any issues.
  11. http://airdriefc.com/news/2017/08/andyryan Cheers for the cash. Look after Andy for us
  12. Yeah, it's filled up the last 10 spaces in the last day or so. Only a small event with 100 places, but worth going on the waiting list I'd say.
  13. Doing a trail 10k in Strathclyde Park at the end of October. Looks like it could be some good, muddy fun.
  14. Airdrie Harriers are based at the Langloan athletics track. They have a good-sized adult section as well as kids coaches etc. Alternatively you could check out Jog Scotland who do various jogging groups etc.
  15. I did the first two then couldn't get booked onto the level 3 for love nor money. Would love to go back to do it all again though.
  16. They're not really local to me, as I'm now in Glasgow but they're a great wee shop. Very knowledgeable and friendly folk with a great attitude to service.
  17. Did the Resolution Run 10k in Glasgow Green on Sunday - 47.24 was my time. Had been aiming for sub-50, so delighted with that. Now to get under 45 by September...
  18. Just as well you set this one up. With so far 100% record on mentioning dodgy payments
  19. That's a fair few! Especially for "summer" riding. I've been using the Gator Hard Shell's since about March and they've been fantastic. Only puncture I had with them was a pinch puncture from running it at way too low a pressure. Great tyres and only marginally heavier than the Gatorskins. If you're getting that many punctures then I'd definitely check them out.
  20. Any idea what caused the puncture? I'm yet to have a puncture at speed, fortunately. Ironically, the last puncture I had was on my way to buy new tubes and a puncture repair kit.
  21. Thought that the show had potential, but could do with being a bit longer so they can have a bit more depth to the features. Think the chat bit needs a bit more structure - didn''t seem like they knew quite what they were meant to be doing. Something along the lines of Top Gear's news section. In fact, the whole show would be quite good if it was like Top Gear, but without quite so much of the dicking about. Still going to tune in next week though.
  22. Does anyone else use Strava? I'm finding it far too addictive just now - pretty sure some of the times must have been done on a motor bike though!
