  1. In a similar vein, I despise people who bitch and moan about corners and free kicks that don't beat the first man and then 15 seconds later remind everyone how good Laurie Ellis is at attacking the near post. c***s.
  2. I thought the same about Danny Lennon, turned out the he bypassed us - and the First Division - by actually being a little too good and a bargain. The only time in almost 4 decades of football those two things have cropped upat the same time in Scottish Football. Who loses out? Raith Rovers! Typical.
  3. I suppose it depends on how good a deal McGlynn can strike with either Jeffries or Houston but aye, I'd hope that we could sign a loan deal or two during the season.
  4. So, we finally get a confirmation of the probable squad size, 13 or 14 players. Well, as expected but still
  5. Was he a lazy fucker as well? Nah, I loved Sloan. He lost posession from time to time but his vision and his accuracy were second to none. Was quite gutted when he left.
  6. Welcome aboard Brian, you scored more goals from less minutes on the pitch than the chap you are replacing and although you might not be as athletic or as hard working, we could use goals. So welcome. As for the other specualtion. The 'big name'; I discount both Kevin Smith and the Argentinian Love God. My honest guess is that we'll get a player similar in style to Tadé to try and compliment Graham. Presuming that Baird leaves, if he stays i can't see a striker being signed.
  7. Graham Weir Craig Wedderburn Mark Ferry Andrew McNeil All are nearly good enough to drive you towards the paly offs but, provided you dn't do anything silly like sign a good centre half or a 20 goal a season striker, will ensure that you don't actually take the step. East Fife, making failure an art.
  8. Stevo, if you want a list of the former Raith Rovers players who could do a job for you in your next failed attempt at getting out of the 2nd Division, just ask.
  9. My point about the right footed centre half was based on my assumption that Murray will play right back for most of the season. Certainly we need either a right back or a right footed centre half. I guess that'll depend on the options available to McGlynn. Again, a centre mid of some point is not negotiable and I'd like 2 if possible as well. The replacement for Tadé appears to be Graham. Tadé seemed a poor signing at the time as well who had suffered succesive relegations from different leagues - including this one. And whilst I'm underwhelmed as much as you, I reckon Graham could be decent with good management. Baird's replacement should be funded by the wage loss and perhaps part of the cash we get for him and I'd hope McGlynn has an eye on a couple of strikers that he wants.
  10. I suspect it's because he wants to go and the club can't afford to try and change his mind. Which is a shame but understandable. I suspect Baird will leave as well but the cash we get for him will not have been budgeted so hopefuly will be used to add a player or two. Of course, it may end up going to the bank but we can hope that's not necessary in the short term. At the moment, we need a striker, a right footed centre half and a centre mid. We'll probably need a second striker to repalce Baird. 4 senior players has to be the goal and if they have to be recruited from the Second Div. then so be it. Anything more than that is a bonus that the budget probably can't stretch to.
  11. Out of contract, fancies a step up, probably a high earner. I'm imagining all of those have influenced his decision and the degree to which the club tried to keep him. Bit gutted personally, he's had an average season but he's done a hell of a job for us over the years.
  12. Well, this season's starting to look interesting. The evolution that McGlynn has been carrying out on the squad seems to have been blown out of the water by budget cuts and players hankering for a step up. Sad to see but neither are unexpected. Ho hum, good luck to the departing and these aren't set backs but rather welcome challenges etc.
  13. I stand corrected(ish) but the second post in that first thread is a belter
  14. I don't recall exactly (I had Ayr at 6/1) but 3/1 is Old Firm type odds for a league win and I'd be stunned if we were that short.
  15. Hiya pal. Missed you.

  16. Here now, Ferguson was fucking honking and a cripple at that. If he made more than ten appearances that season I'll be stunned. Crilly was a good player though. Was a wee bit annoyed when he pissed off.
  17. Adrenaline baby. Not to mention that they spent the first part of the season with a decent sized squad and a manager who like changing them about. Chuck in the fact that most of their trialists are able to bring a degree of energy of their own and it's not hugely surprising they out ran us.
  18. I've said on the Stirling thread that I'd like to see Gary Wales given the entire second half and his use could allow Tadé / Baird a needed break. The Ferry business is a wee bit bizarre to be honest. That he wasn't even in the squad last night defies logic and I presume he's picked up a last minute injury that we've just not heard about yet. I fully agree though, he deserves a game long before either Williamson or Weir.
  19. The current form is what most of us have been predicting. We lack any sort of depth and whilst I would argue that our staring eleven and first couple of subs are as good as any in the league, that simply isn't enough. A lot of that eleven look jaded, half a yard slower than most of the opposition and in need of a breather. For the most part, we don't have the facility to do so. I'd like to see us use the squad a wee bit more in the next few games. Davidson is about to get a two week breather, when he comes back in rotate Walker or Simmons out for a couple. Likewise, there appears to be an issue with Ferry at the minute, I wonder if that issue is big enough to force McBride to play 90 minutes every week or could he be rotated out for a week. Further, the derence needs some fresh impetus and blood and we all know where I stand there. Truth be told, we can't carry out wholesale changes but if one or two players were given a rest I think we'd come through the poor form. It's also worth remembering that we always dip at this time of year and we usually come through it. Due to the Pars being a bit shite. we're not being punished at the moment and for that I'm grateful/
  20. If they go bust and close their doors their results will probably be annulled. That’s unlikely though.
  21. It's good that he's starting to finally get some exercise.
