  1. Williamson is all but finished at Raith Rovers right now.He spent most of last season out of favour and when he did get a shot he was anonymous. He has another year left on his deal and then, barring a major turnaround, he'll be away. But aye, I'd give McBride a run of twenty games at wide left and give him his shot, with Walker wide right and Hammil in the middle.
  2. I can't see McGlynn using two left footers at centre half to be honest. The inbalance would be brutal and I imagine he'll want to get the majority of the first eleven playing in this season's selected formation as soon as possible. I suppose it's possible that Davidson will drop back and allow Murray to go to full back but that leaves a gap in midfield because; I also see no reason to assume he's gonna move Walker inside. For the vast mahjority of our time since promotion, Walker has played wide right because he is far better in that role than Williamson. In the absence of a right midfielder bneing signed I presume he'll stay wide right and Hammil will play in the centre with McBride wide left.
  3. Likewise. I'm heading up after work tonight but I won't be there tomorrow. So, what do we reckon tonight's line up will be. My guess; McGurn Donaldson / Murray / Ellis / Dyer Walker / Davidson / Hammil / McBride Baird / Graham
  4. To be fair to the boys in charge of the site, the former players section has the air of scrap heap. Which is appropriate.
  5. In fairness, that's not really narrowing it down for the viewing public. A swift glance here will show an incredible number of piss poor players.
  6. We need a right footed defender certainly. Preferably for the full back role and I'd echo the requests of those who want Wilson back. I presume McGlynn's working on that and we'll see what the end product is shortly. Graham is dramtically different from Tadé of course and I tend to agree with what you've said previously about our style of play. Not much the manager can do about that though, Tadé wanted away and I can't think of antyone else in Scottish football who plays his brand of football so effectively. McGlynn's challenge this year is to neutralise the loss of Tadé and I hope he can do so. Again, I absolutely agree that beyond the first 12 or 13 players we don't have much to fall back on. But that was the case last season and, in fact, the season before. The quality of the season in my mind, is based on how McGlynn responds to the loss of Tadé as discussed above.
  7. Well yes, I maybe worded it badly but I didn't intend to suggest that any of those players weren't commited but for varying reasons - injury, out of favour, maybe not quite good enough for the 1st division - they were unable to make much of a contribution. Given the lack of game time that those players had, given that neither Wales nor Weir scored - or even set up a goal IIRC - and given that they would have both been on better money than the u19s. It's hard to feel that the 19s aren't better value for money.
  8. Well yes. As the years go by, it's looking likely that there's been a pretty real problem somewhere along the line in either scouting talent, developing it or convincing that talent to sign for us. I would hope, given McGlynn's previous experience, that's something that will turn around in the next couple of years but sadly, if the gaffer reckons that Reynolds is the best bet, he's probably right.
  9. Well indeed, 18 would leave me in a world of magical lollipops and fluffy bunnies. Obviously, there's a cut off point when you start changing that around but as Renton says above, this season the tema will consist of around 13 / 14 core players with a few bench watmers and last ten minuters from the 19s. as far as I can tell, the question for McGlynn is whether the 19s can adequately roles the roles vacated by Weir, Wales, Ferry et al . but for less money whilst players like Dougie Hill make the transition from playing regularly to playing every week. Given the low bar set by Weir, Wales etc. I'm certain the 19s can make that step up and I'm also certain that Hill can make that step as well. I'm not half as concerned by this as many people seem to be.
  10. It's the age old criticism of McGlynn though, he's always gone for quality over quantity and even when the budget was better he chose to sign fewer but better players. He's on record as thinking he's getting better value for money that way.Have we had a start of season squad of more than 18 since he joined? Given the last few years, I reckon he's got that pretty much spot on.
  11. Got a St Johnstone supporting mate - it's an outreach programme I volunteer at - who in a moment of drunkennes a few days ago referred to him as a 'lanky fucker, but decent in the air and an alright finisher'. Then he went for a fag and I lost £20 on a roulette table. So, based on this paucity of info, I'm prepared to describe him as a somewhat audacious cross between Tadé and Brian Graham. But without the pace and surprising skill.
  12. To be fair to Marvin, I've laughed at worse than that.
  13. Oh goody, I do so love a player that Ayr Utd. fans can have an opinion of. Preferably one they can have a negative opinion of.
  14. Provided we got game time out of him he'd be a better signing than Wales was undoubtedly. He'd almost certianly get game time as well as I don't recall any long term, recurring injuries. He's still piss poor though and I'd rather spend the money on bringing in some Hearts / Dundee Utd. youth player on loan and giving them a shot.
  15. Because if I'm being brutally honest, I think he's finished and I don't believe for one second he's of the standard to get us promoted or even safe. He's slow, not exactly prolific, not a particularly hard worker, towards the end of the career and therefore probably can't be improved too much and will probably cost a fair bit of money. I'm delighted that there's been no media talk / official confirmation. Long may it last.
  16. Awful player. Maybe I'd be proven wrong but I'm horrified by the thought. Edit - Soccerbase tells me that in 260 club appearances he's scored only 46 goals. That's bad, really bad.
  17. Oh for fucks sake. I thought it was perectly obvious I was taking the piss but I guess you can't type anything that's entirely idiot proof.
  18. I remember once, a guy at work threw a Tic Tac at me and I threw it back at him. Should i have been sacked? NO!
  19. Hearts website still shows him as a player. Wasn't he of the Pelosi generation who got themselves long deals - I'm thinking 5 years - despite never having taken the step up?
  20. Gordon Smith - 2 starts, 7 subs - 1 goal. 11 goalsd in this leage for a poor Stirling team. I'd suggest he's probably the most obvious,
