The late Alan Gordon scoring one of a hat-trick in a 3-0 win over Dumbarton in the old First Division in April 1974.:His second hat-trick of the season,as he scored all of Hibs goals in a 3-3 draw with Dundee in March. Dundee winning the replay at Dens 3-0 in front of 30,888. Have a feeling there hasn’t been a higher crowd at Dens since then, Alan Gordon played for Hearts, Hibs, Dundee and Dundee United. Picture from cover of the Hibs v Arbroath prgramme from Arbroath Archive.

Bowie's title track for the show was his take on which other song?

Probably the best drama in the last 20 years has "just dropped" on Netflix.
In 2006 a police DCI is involved in a car crash and wakes up in 1973.
He is horrified by how "un-politically correct" his new environment is to him.
I'll say no more than it's 12 episodes of superb character development and story telling.
Also a very very decent soundtrack.

I can't believe it's a couple of years shy of 20 years since this was first broadcast, and that you're avoiding spoilers because there's people on here who are too young to remember it first time round (if they were even born). 20 years ago should be something from the 80s. Jeez, I'm getting old.
Brilliant series, though. The sequel, Ashes to Ashes, isn't bad either, and does a good job of explaining things.
The only TV that's ever made me have a wee greet was the episode of ER when Dr Greene eventually died, but I was close to it at the conclusion of the final episode of Ashes to Ashes, it wrapped everything up brilliantly.

More Motherwell connections Down Under. Dixie Deans and Jumbo Muir with Adelaide City in 1978. This was an away game at Footscray JUST that City won 1-0. Dixie Deans scored 30 goals in 3 seasons with City. Jim Muir played 5 times for Australia in 1980 (England, Northern Ireland 3, Mexico). The same pen picture of Jim Muir was used in programmes for all the games).
Sons legend also.

Downloaded version of the Sons v Hearts programme, November 1982. Cover page predominantly maroon, bizarrely.

Sounds like me driving Larbert to Dumbarton to visit my Dad.

I always thought that was the rule but didn't they relax it a few years ago?
Not so sure about corners, but bye kicks used to have to be taken from the same side of the 6 yard box as the ball had gone out of play in, on the same principle as the corner example.
The rule for that was relaxed to allow the bye to be taken from anywhere within the 6 yard box (thus allowing the keeper even more leeway for timewasting).

When the new people were changing the name of Green's Playhouse in Glasgow to The Apollo, the new name was chosen based on the quoted cost of £250 per letter for the external signage.
Apollo was the most viable name which was also affordable.
