  1. Not sure where to post this but in the aftermath of Kieran Tierney snubbing a proposed £50m move to Real Madrid I saw this today.  Generally football gossip columns tend to have more than a grain of truth and this is not the first mention of Matt O'Reilly in the last few months.  I see he's represented by CAA Base Ltd whose clientele is vast and peppered with good EPL players (Son, Maddison, Varane, Richarlison,....) and several managers including Ange Postecoglu.

Is there any way to apply logic to this rumour.  Does he want out of Scottish football, do the club want rid of him or is just another facet of the worldwide money laundering / tax evasion machine that underpins professional football.

This is true. I know it is a small sample size but Sligo had 10 Irish players staring compared to Motherwell 6 Scottish. Why don't Scottish clubs persist with playing more youth, they can't be any worse than the likes of Mugabi? On average we have more money than the average Irish side and hopefully a better youth setup so we could have 8-9 Scots that a large portion come through the youth sides then top them up with 1-2  actual quality from elsewhere and not 4-5 jobbers?

It's all about arse covering.  If they get relegated they'll say it was unlucky as they've used the same model as most of their competitors and surely bringing in players from a neighbouring country with a higher football pedigree is a sound strategy.

It takes bravery and a willingness to fail yet stick with the plan to make it work in the longer term.  Most managers don't get that luxury.

That brought back some bad memories when we were embarrassingly humbled by FH from Iceland. TBF, Icelandic football was a lot better than what people gave it credit for, and they had actually won the league that season (summer football). Thankfully since then there has been a couple of Scottish results that dwarf that. Hearts getting fired out by a Maltese team, and Motherwell embarrassed this season definitely beat it now, thankfully.

I've never forgotten that result!!  Icelandic club football wasn't a lot better that it was given credit for and the ultimate sickener was DAFC going ahead and the commentator pointing out that the opponents were a part-time club whose inferior fitness would probably show in the later stages of the match...cue goals in the 83rd and 90th minute.  Horrendous!!

...they are one of the most loathed in the country and I as one of many wish they would just disappear.

You're not the first to believe that the object of their hatred 'just disappearing' would solve everything.

For the Romanov era I think that deserves a thread on its own however that was a basket case in itself where inefficiencies are always going to present themselves easily with an egotistical owner.

As for recent Hearts too much trust was placed in one man for way too long who was now a bit of a dinosaur (Levein), he signed high wage foreigners on long term contracts with little or no experience of British football which was quite high risk. Add in the balls ups with the new stand and and somehow managing to be relegated again despite having a massive budget to those in around them. Hearts are obviously doing very well now but a lot of the FoH money seemed to be pissed up agains the wall for me.

Levein definitely cost Hearts the title.......🤣  Your absolute belief in the merit of your clubs achievements shakes me (but you're far from alone).

If a guy like CL had only coached a bit better and wanted it more the title was his for sure 😇

I looked back at some of their past forays into Europe. In 2014 they beat Rosenborg 2-1 in Norway and we’re leading 1-0 in Ireland. So 3-1 up against the most successful team in Norway. They eventually lost 3 goals to lose 4-3 on aggregate. Hoping something similar happens this midweek 🙏. But I have my doubts…..

Well if that group of players have been playing together for the last 8 years then it's no wonder they're well drilled 😇

Sad news to hear of the passing of adam strachan. Still a very young man. He always had his demons but he was a joy to watch the few seasons he spent at ek.
hopefully he is at peace now.

Unplayable at times during that amazing season of 2016/17 😥

At the start of last season there was a really unsettled team and management.

Rutkiewicz steadied the team and we've carried over a good couple of players into this season and done well in the transfer market.

    We'll be fourth 😂

Bonnyrigg ran away with it last season 👏  With the league getting more competitive with each passing season it would be nice to be in the mix come April 🤞

  10. Major crypto lending platform Celsius on Monday announced it was suspending all withdrawals due to “extreme market conditions,” triggering a major selloff in the cryptocurrency market with Bitcoin dropping dropping more than 9%.

In a blog post on Monday, Celsius said it was “pausing all withdrawals, [currency] swap, and transfers between accounts,” noting that it was doing so to allow itself to meet all of its withdrawal obligations in the future.

The company said its action will “stabilize liquidity and operations while we take steps to preserve and protect assets,” and added that its customers will continue to accrue rewards during the freeze.

According to its website, Celsius claims it held $11.8 billion in assets as of May 17, has processed $8.2 billion in loans and has around 1.7 million customers.

Following the announcement, the value of Celsius’ own token (CEL) slumped by more than 50%, and as of early Monday morning, it was trading below 20 cents—massively down from around $2 in early May and $7 in June last year.

Celsius’ announcement also triggered a selloff in the wider cryptocurrency market with Bitcoin dropping below $25,000, its lowest level since December 2020.

The suspension of withdrawals comes just a day after Celsius founder and CEO Alex Mashinsky hit out at critics on Twitter, accusing them of spreading misinformation and FUD—a popular crypto acronym for “Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt.” Responding to a tweet by Mike Dudas, the founder of crypto news outlet The Block, Mashinsky wrote: “Mike do you know even one person who has a problem withdrawing from Celsius?… If you are paid for this then let everyone know you are picking sides.”

EK would do themselves a great favour if they left him where he is in the managerial gutter. Very unpopular at Clyde even more unpopular at Alloa.   Spend more time on his media career than the club he is the so called manager at. If boring defensive football is is your forte then fair enough. Kelty fans weren’t bothered when he left, and they got a better manager to replace him.

    C’mon The Rose 🌹🌹🌹

I'm sure that if they create a shortlist they'll get you on to the decision panel 🤪😂

Holt did the same thing 5 mins later. Just cause you failed to produce anything doesn’t mean you didn’t get the exact same decision in your favour.

The issue isn't that Celtic get some 'dodgy' decisions in their favour (all teams do), it's that Celtic fans generally refuse to acknowledge it but then go tonto when things to against them...hiring private detectives, putting it on their AGM agenda, raising it in the Scottish parliament, etc 😇
