  1. Season 2019/2020 - Matchday 6: East Kilbride FC 5 - 0 Edinburgh University (Woods 32, Winter 65, Malcolm 80, Paton 81, Malcom 92) On paper this probably looked to most like a straightforward result. A big victory against a team with 1 victory from their opening 6 matches. The truth is it was closer, for most of the game, than the score suggests. EK were sluggish and didn't create many clear cut chances in the first half. The opener was a shock in the sense that Paul Woods not only hit a shot BUT he hit it from outside the box (a rarity). He should try it more often. How Edinburgh Uni failed to score is hard to fathom, we game them plenty of encouragement and they had some decent players including the 3 youngest looking players I've ever seen in LL. I can't even believe they've left secondary school so must be in for next year on unconditionals. Carmichael is a talented player and I suspect he'd be amazing at 5's but for all the skill I sense that more often than not the ultimate result is Oh...so close but just too short/long/hard/soft with the final ball. Sean Winter has shown over multiple seasons that if you give him chances he will score. He got one decent cross today and he scored from it. Homer and Anton are classy players (and again would destroy mere mortals in a five-a-side setting) but they both tend to play deep and like to slow the game down. On yesterday's showing we still have a lot of improving to do to mount a title challenge.
  2. IF....they can keep that single centre back fit
  3. People throwing their hands up and chucking in the towel. If I was the makers I'd throw my hands up and chuck in the towel...
  4. Season 2019/2020 - Matchday 3: East Kilbride FC 1 - 3 Caledonia Braves (Malcolm 69) A strange day. No Reid, no Holmes, Woods on the bench along with, not 1 but, 2 trialists? Sean Winter withdrawn after 26 minutes. I initially assumed it must be due to injury but the subsequent remonstration followed by the classic kicking off the water bottle and then the long trudge straight to the dressing room suggested not. Close match and we had some chances. Malcolm blazed over, when it looked easier to score, after a great build up. Away keeper made a tremendous stop from 'someone' and then a shot hit the inside of the post and came straight back out. I'd love to say we were unlucky or that we were done by poor officiating but for me it was a poor performance with a deserved outcome. CB won and converted a penalty. Former EK striker Ross McNeil was clearly delighted as I heard about a dozen roars of YASS!! The second was one of those free kicks that eludes everyone and nestles in at the back post and the late third deflected beyond the keeper. Our title defence has not started particularly convincingly and things will need to improve if we want to stay in contention.
  5. Enjoyable first half. I couldn't see anyway for Motherwell to beat the juggernaut that is *Celtic but they've made a decent fist of it and given us something to watch. *Even if they're playing like Ronnie Deila Celtic.
  6. Just caught up with Sportscene. Going by the highlights that was a proper football match, credit to both teams for actually trying to score goals.
  7. Would change feck all in my opinion. Hibs the better side, the Kamberi offside is a disgrace, grounds for optimism for Saints fans after the Betfred.
  8. Did You Know....Tom Hateley, former Motherwell player was a member of the Piast Gliwice team that won the Polish league title (for the first time in its history) last season, scoring 4 goals in the process?
  9. Season 2019/2020 - Matchday 2: Vale of Leithen 0 - 3 East Kilbride FC (Malcolm 42, 64. Kavanagh 92)
  10. Going by the radio coverage it sounds like The Rangers are poised to give us another mildly exciting battle for 2/3/4/5th with Aberdeen, Hibs and Hearts
  11. First versus Second ? Should have been moved to the live lunchtime kick off imo.
  12. You could argue every signing is a gamble but at least they know what they can expect from him IF he can stay fit. The difference he made to Hearts when he played was genuinely remarkable.
  13. Ruari Paton has already caught the eye this season with his workrate and with a goal and an assist last night he could be a very valuable member of the team in this campaign.
  14. Season 2019/2020 - Matchday 1: Dalbeattie Star 0 - 2 East Kilbride FC (Malcolm 33, Paton 90)
  15. Dalbeattie are a pain in the arse to play away from home. Dont think we've won down there yet Feel like we always manage to scrape a 2-0 victory but it's never easy.
  16. https://medium.com/@NcGeehan/trollerball-188bfad1e63a ….football just got a little bit dirtier.
  17. No division can guarantee a competitive season (I think Arbroath and Peterhead went top of Leagues 1 & 2 within the first few weeks and never budged) but there's no doubt it's much more exciting when you do get one. The teams that struggled last season seem set to do the same but at the top I think it'll be much closer.
  18. To be clear, I wasn't suggesting that it was a decision made to make it harder for EKFC...simply that it was done to deprive me of my favourite away fixture
  19. Interview with Vic Kasule on The Nutmeg podcast:
  20. I'd just like to say that, as far as I can see, there's only 1 set of midweek fixtures shown on this seasons list and like last season that fixture for us is an away match at Dalbeattie Star (a venue I enjoy visiting). Can this be coincidence or is it the work of unseen (and annoying as f*ck) forces?
