  1. Play Agathe up front with Tade, Baird on the wing. Sorted. Agathe was great for Rovers. I didn't see him when he scored a hat-trick on his debut at Airdrie, but saw the highlights on TV. My best memory of Agathe was ripping Blobby Mann up in Inverness! Those were the days. Think that was the last time we actually won there!!
  2. They could always just release him and then have an agreement to buy him off us again if he bags us 30 goals next season?
  3. All the goals were great, but I would have picked Bert's as well. Just for the occasion. Also for a centre back he struck it rather beautifully! Ferry's goal V Morton also was very good technique, Cryuff turning the defender before curling it right in the corner. Peach!
  4. I never go for a pish during a game incase that happens!
  5. I see Baird was given the assist for the Airdrie goal last night, with a cross for Gemmill. Airdrie's goal against us a couple of weeks ago was also down to Baird's crossing. Hmm maybe McGlynn will try him out wide/striker like Tade. Someone to punt it in the pokey now from 5 yards now please John! Also cheers for retracting my red dot. Much appreciated.
  6. My previous post is a bit misleading as I meant to say I'm not really a fan of Williamson. Someone want to retract my red dot.
  7. I don't think Williamson particularly knows where hsi best position is either. It would be interesting to start him alongside Walker or Davidson in midfield to see how he get on down the middle. He has played there a few times, and although he doesn't put enough tackles in, if he gets running on the ball and finding players he could be ok. I'm really a fan of Williamson, but as other have said he has contributed with a few important goals this season. Hill has indeed upgraded his contract and will now be will the club on a full-time basis. Good news!
  8. I've seen Airdrie in all 6 games they have played us this season (incredible I know, I don't even get to loads of games!) and he has scored 3 goals against us. A good shot at the near post in the cup game at Starks and the 2 goals in our 3 zip drubbing. His first was close range from a corner, second he ran on to a through ball, rounded McGurn and slid it home. I think he will only improve in a Raith shirt next season if I'm honest. He has a decent touch, and a turn of pace which is quicker than Weir's. Maybe not the striker we hoped for, but He'll do more good than bad I think. If only we could get someone like John Sutton again to score the headers and the tap ins! He took his 2 goals well tonight! If Weir does stay next season, hopefully he gets a right goor pre-season behind him, along with Ferry. Hire Sonic the Hedgehog to give them some speed training!
  9. Fezza!!!!!! So that is 11 players signed for next season including Baird. Another Goalkeeper = 12. So another 6-8 players should make up our squad for next season. John has obviously had his finger out already and sussed who he wants. Hopefully he gets the right players in. I'm not surprised Weir is away, good luck to him, and Sloan. He's had 3 solid years at Raith and has been a good servant. Just not good enough for this level. Onwards and upwards!
  10. McGlynn say's he's spoke to everyone he wants to and things are at an advanced stage. I would imagine McGlynn has obviously held positive talks with McGurn. Hopefully he stays at the Rovers!
  11. I'd invite Shields back as well. He still has something to offer I think. I think the other 3 might be away though. Just have see what happens I suppose.
  12. Is it me or do you think the likes of Sloan, Amaya, Shields and Gathuessi have played their last game for the club? Instead of playing them again last night to give them another chance of earning a contract...he dropped them all. Is Darren Smith on a two year deal? If not...then maybe he could be away as well. Maybe I'm just clutching at straws..I appreciate that 4 of them above all started on Monday night but 2 of them came off in the 2nd half. All 4 haven't really played regularly this season anyway. I think Weir might be away as well to be honest. Scoring no goals doesn't quite help his cause. I know he's been injured, but maybe they could negotiate with him and terminate his contract. I'd do it anyway. If the rumours are true about John Baird, then what's the point in having Baird and Weir, when Baird is younger, fitter, has a better touch and of course has found the net 13 times this season. Just my opinions and thoughts though. Fell free to shoot me down. After saying this, all 4 above will probably play on Saturday...
  13. ...and of course captain. I would keep him I suppose. Sometime's he does pick out passes and he does play with his heart on his sleeve. A lesser of two evils than Simmons. One of them has to go in the summer if we are to progress in my opinion.
  14. Yeah sort of mis typed that. I shouldn't have really included him. But I did say at the end of my other post that I would like Russell to stay.
  15. Fellow Fezza lover! I could kind of agree with that. McGlynn should try and play him through the centre with Walker for the Airdrie game. Give Davidson and Simmons a rest. We could just put Gathuessi at left back for comedy.
  16. Wouldn't want McManus back either. Dundee United should just let us have Kev! Put a buy back clause in his contract or something? Haha! It's difficult to really see whats actually going to happen with the squad. Now we are definately going to be playing First Division football next season, I'd hope McGlynn can start negotiatiations with players such McGurn and Campbell. Iv e seen Baird score 3 goals against us this season and looks promising. Airdrie fans say he can be inconsistent but hopefully McGlynn would be able to get the best out of him assuming he signs. I would also like to keep Ferry. The guy has been quite a servant in his 2 years at the club. He is versatile, can play wing back, centre mid and at a push out wide. He has a decent footballing brain...although he is a bit on the slow side, he generally does know what to do with a football. Sloan is a funny one. He hasn't fitted into our best 11 this season...this to me would suggest he won't be with us that much longer. Amaya? McGlynn obviously doesn't rate the guy. It's a shame because in the flashes I have seen him he has been quite good on the ball, good strength and touch. Even scored on his first start for the club! So the mind boggles on that one. I would personally keep him, but its not my decision to make. I would assume that Russell, Gathuessi, Armstrong and Shields won't be offered anything in the summer. But least they have 3 games to sort of play their way into contention so to speak. (Armstrong obviously just the 2) Players I would keep: McGurn Campbell Wilson Hill Bert Tade Walker Ellis Ferry Davidson Darren Smith At a push : Williamson Simmons Williamson needs to man up a bit and Simmons needs to sort his self out with regard to discipline. Weir is here for another year so I suppose we have to keep him as well. We have to look for another striker. This is a must. It's a shame Mole is only really used up top himself. I would like him to maybe return next season on loan or whatever. Russell is a player who I like as well. He has good feet and has potential. maybe another loan deal for him. It all depends on the parent clubs I guess. If Simmons, Walker or Davidson leave (unlikely) then I'd like to see Trouten in a Raith shirt next season. I can't really think off the top of my head who else has impressed me this season though. I'll see Queens on Wednesday night for the first time, I'll have a look at them. Whatever happens, I'm sure McGlynn will have something up his sleeve. The man lives and breathes Raith Rovers Football Club.
  17. This is my favourite post in this whole thread! Haha!
  18. Exactly, the players can't train themselves, we don't have first team coaches! Like I said, If McGlynn were to leave for pastures new, then he will probably, like Levein, help us find a new manager. Someone who is interested in the bigger picture rather than just first team matters will be the right man for the job. hopefully the board look into this as well.
  19. At the moment McGlynn literally breathes the Rovers, does all the work, basically runs the place. A Part time manager wouldn't be able to do what McGlynn has done. A full time manager is the only option. This should definately rule Maitland and any other part time managers out there.
  20. Calderwood would be a bloody disaster, he may have done well with Aberdeen and Dunfermline, but he had some money to spend. We have hee haw at our disposal! Maybe McGlynn and Levein will have a chat and recommend a candidate to the Rovers board.
  21. I spoke to a few guys down the pub, and they had heard from a guy in the mercat who was told by his father-in-law that Mark Hughes will be approached if McGlynn were to leave!
  22. The Craw is doing a fine job at East Fife, Oh wait..... Don't know who I would go with, but I think Lennon would be an obvious choice, if McGlynn were to jump ship to Dundee Utd.
  23. Haha, yeah does sound a bit dodgy but no doubt the guy has access to information. Hopefully the unknown quantity of the boy will rattle the Pars!
