  1. So toothless in the final third despite our striker habit over the summer months. White looked isolated and Lang totally wasted out wide. Robinson has made plenty of mistakes during his tenure, but he also gets much more right that he does wrong. Win on Thursday and escape next Sunday with a bit of respectability then we have to push on from there. Twitter giving the manager a few more games seems a bit drastic.
  2. Four years on from this, was such a good performance and some cracking goals (check out Allan Campbell’s driving run). Very decent success rate from the team too, albeit we played a few ringers if I recall correctly? Team: Long, Watt, McMillan, Ferguson, Hall, Campbell, MacLean (Hastie 90), Turnbull (Leitch 72), Mackin (Falconer), Thomas, Cadden (C)
  3. They all seem to be working for me, I’ve not had anyone else saying there are issues, but have asked Davie who does the website to have a look. Sorry about this.
  4. Thanks for bringing this to my attention mate, what app are you using to listen on?
  5. Few more specials this week. 6. Gonna do a few of these in the downtime to try provide a bit of respite and if nothing else it gives me something to do. Andy is joined by Scott Mullen and Graeme McGarry for a special episode of the MFC Podcast. Over the coming weeks, there will be a number of special episodes in an attempt to provide some Motherwell related conversation during the time without football. We would like to wish everyone the very best of health during these uncertain times – take care of each other x https://www.mfc1886.com/mfc-podcast-march-2020-special-1/ Ranking Stephen Robinson's signings from his first two seasons at MFC - https://www.mfc1886.com/mfc-podcast-march-2020-special-2/
  7. I don't know if we were looking to change up the style, but I do think you are spot on - it looks like we've reacted too slowly with regards to finding a replacement for Cole and Scott.
  8. No getting away from how poor he was last night, though I think that’s pretty unfair. I think he’s been fairly solid this season. His distribution is poor, but I don’t have many complaints when it comes to the defensive side of his game whatsoever.
  9. I suppose the issue with Scott was he left on the deadline day. We managed to get Aarons in at the close of play, but perhaps got caught by surprise at the value offered?
  10. Standing beside their keeper and pointing to his imaginary watch seemed to always lead to a punt that just went up the way and not really travel any sort of distance.
  11. The following day and it’s still hard to make sense of that. Major headaches for the manager after the first half display and there must be a few that he’s considering shelving on the back of it. Though can’t help thinking if that had been a league game, it potentially could have been seen as a turning point for us. It was a remarkable turnaround given the shitshow in the first half and we had a few good chances to complete the comeback and win it in 90 minutes. The extra half hour was far from ideal, especially on a very heavy surface and the penalties were pretty much a disaster. There’s a fair bit of hysteria and very few aren’t being targeted for criticism, though for me it’s far from a season ender. We’ve got a run of favourable fixtures coming up and we’re joint third with a game in hand. There’s no denying our form is poor, but the teams around us aren’t embarking on winning runs either - it’s still all to play for. The recruitment is taking a battering too. It would be interesting to compare our success rate with that of clubs with a similar budget to ourselves. Guys like Mugabi and Manzinga, could have been fourth or fifth choice signings - it’s not as if we’ve made up tales that we’re competing against English non-league sides when it comes to recruiting. I think in the case of both of the players I’ve mentioned, they were never expected to be first-teamers, they were brought in to enhance our options. We’ve had some poor signings which absolutely is going to happen, but I still go with Robinson getting it right more often that he’s got it wrong. His hand has been forced through injury to use players he probably would have preferred not to, but that’s just the way of things sometimes.
  12. It seems to be a massive inconvenience having to scramble about to fit in these games when we're struggling to get the first-team games on. I'm not sure what the arrangement is with Airdrie and Clyde, but I'd imagine it's quite costly as well having to accommodate them too. The teams are very young, wonder if there would be more merit in just organising bounce games and playing in the Youth Cup and Reserve League Cup to get the guys out of the team or those who have been injured back up to speed. The guys at 16-17 will be featuring for the youth teams already, it seems like reserve football is a waste of time.
  13. Me and a mate were in the South Stand, it was absolutely sound. Couldn't bring myself to clap when they scored and some pretty hot takes from some, but no real difference to what you'd get at Fir Park.
  14. It was a bit of a mixed bag that. I thought as the game went on we looked likely to extend our lead, but in saying that I wouldn't argue that Saints didn't deserve a draw. We're going to be properly sick of the sight of each other by the end of play next Tuesday. Btw - the pie and beans were great as usual.
  15. I think, given the reported figure for Scott, it was simply too good to run down. He’s got undoubted potential, he’s got many positive elements to his game, but there’s also a pretty raw side too. It’s been mentioned by multiple posters already, potential can go either way, injuries can occur and while it would have been nice to keep him until the summer I think there would have been a fair degree of risk in doing so. I know the Record and various others carried the ‘MASSIVE LOSSES’ story when the reality was markedly different, though if we’d went another transfer window without selling a player, maybe we’d be heading for times where our hand was forced a little?
  16. Marv’s scoops on deadline day is one of my favourite deadline day traditions.
  17. Pretty much this for me. I think there's a great deal of potential there with Scott, it's really up to him to make the most of that. Thinking back to the start of the season when I thought he'd be better on loan at Alloa, he's come a long way already.
  18. It's so hard to work out. I personally think if we could get them to seven figures we'd go for it, but we certainly aren't the pushovers in the transfer market that we used to be.
  19. His scoring record actually reads better than I thought it would, but not convinced he's anywhere near as good as some suggested he was in the summer and even less so now after half a season at Dundee where he's not made much of an impression beyond a good start.
  20. I'm reading some interesting views on Twitter about Danny Johnson tonight, you'd have though we'd let a superstar striker slip through our hands.
