  1. If results at the weekend confirm Dundee in the top 6, then probably Monday or Tuesday. If not, then at the very least the race will be narrowed down to 2 teams (Dundee and either Hibs or Motherwell). I’d expect the SPFL will draw up 2 sets of fixtures, and release the correct ones almost as soon as the full time whistle goes at Dens next Wednesday (if it goes ahead, of course).
  2. The camera is physically in line with with 18-yard line, but it’s not always pointing directly along it. At the moment the ball is kicked, the camera is (rightly) pointing at the play.
  3. Well, it’s still not a prerequisite for VAR. Tannadice already has the fixed cabling required by QTV, so they’d just do the same rig and de-rig they do every week at the other grounds.
  4. Sigh. A ground “having VAR” means it has a pitchside monitor. Given Firhill had one installed at short notice for the play-off final last season, I’m sure they could do the same at Tannadice.
  5. The big issue here is VAR overturning an on-field decision based on guesswork. That should never happen. At the very least, as mentioned in the statement, the referee should have been called to the monitor because without the lines it becomes a subjective decision as to whether a player "appears" offside or not (and is the basis of every offside decision made without VAR).
  6. All that's needed at Tannadice is a pitch side monitor. They managed it for the play-off final at Firhill last season.
  7. In the interests of sporting integrity, Aberdeen must do the noble thing and lie down to Dundee on Saturday.
  8. They showed part of the inspection live on SSN. The ball was bouncing, but not very high - but that could have been how Don Robertson was kicking it.
  9. If the 3.30 inspection passes, but the rain hasn't gone off, then logically a third inspection will be necessary.
  10. To be fair, I understand the phrasing in the context of the rest of the sentence. It's about what would knock Motherwell out of the top 6 race. I'm more irritated by the line: Should the game go ahead, Rangers will go top of the table with a win while a victory for Dundee would secure a top-six finish. Shouldn't the effect of a Dundee win come first, since they're the home team? It's a small thing, but it's symptomatic of the wider issues in the way things are framed in the Scottish Football media.
  11. It was your manager whining for an early decision, and this is the consequence of trying to make an early decision. The concept of changeable weather is clearly lost on those down Ibrox way, and a significant proportion of our media.
  12. The visitors' Twitter post not mentioning that the referee deemed the pitch playable, just there will be a second inspection then moaning about an early decision. Funny, that.
  13. Rangers win but lose on Sunday - disgrace that we were forced to play on that pitch on Wednesday
