  1. I’ve never watched one minute of any Harry Potter films. Nor do I have any intention to watch them. Godfather is a fantastic movie and I loved the whole trilogy, despite a lot of folk not liking the 3rd part. The problem with that movie was the bar had been set so high in the previous two instalments.
  2. I’m glad you posted that as this is what I have been thinking too. Apparently, mainly due to COVID and new drivers’ tests paused this past 18 months, there’s also a real shortage of drivers in certain areas of mainland Europe (I read Poland is one example), so surely the Warsaw driver who returned home due to Brexit or COVID won’t be rushing to the UK, where the government and 50%+ of the population were glad to see the back of you, for a 3 month temporary pass?
  3. I’m probably just old - fashioned but I buy my fuel in gallons (in my head at least). Meanwhile I had to fill the ca4 yesterday and Tesco, Stirling was no busier than any normal Saturday mid morning thankfully.
  4. I had a chilling realisation at the game last night that the League Cup Final versus Raith was 27 years ago and I was in my mid-20s when I was at that match. The fact is hardly any of the players on the pitch last night were even born when Rovers won the cup freaked me out (I can only think of Joe Hart off the top of my head).
  5. It was a decent game which turned with the red card and quick 3rd goal just after halftime. It’s annoying that there could not be a section offered to Raith fans but the match went as you’d expect. Decent crowd, good chance for a lot of the newer and younger players to gain match time and Jota ran the show on the right wing until he was played later in the 2nd half as a striker, which clearly reduced his impact (and Celtic settled for the 3-0 by this point). I thought Raith seemed well organised, played some nice touches in possession and bar a couple errors which were factors in the goals, made it a watchable game for at least 75 mins when a host of subs and everyone settled for the result. I wish Raith well in the Championship and wouldn’t mind seeing them back up in the top league.
  6. I turned the wrong way on to a one way street last week, whilst in London with work. An oncoming car kindly slowed down, flashed his lights and had the courtesy of allowing me to quickly pull over and do a u- turn to drive off safely. I can’t understand, for the life of me, why folk like you encountered in the supermarket need to be so hostile at every single thing. It’s the same when you are turning left into slow moving traffic; there’s always a handful of arrogant clowns who stare ahead, not letting you in before someone with a bit patience and decency allows you to join the traffic. Why the guy decided to pull up, basically block you and then decide to go off on one is mental, when you read daily of folk getting a kicking or worse for less!
  7. It was either the overly- helpful local ex-pat or the landlord who killed her.
  8. I’ve actually said the very same thing this morning; don’t know why they couldn’t hire somewhere like a football stadium where they can march away to their hearts’ content, and allow the rest of society to carry on with living in the 21st century.
  9. There’s a large dose of “GIRFUY” with these marches and “we’ll damn we’ll do what we like”. I’m 100% of the belief that we, as a free and liberal society should have the tight to march, however everyone else should have the right to not have their daily lives disrupted and businesses suffering financial loss etc. My main issue with these marches are the numbskull hangers-on who will be the root of any carry on later. When you see those eejits, you wish we could bring in some Turkish or Chinese coppers with their water cannons and lack of tolerance of “cultural celebrations”.
  10. It was either that or they were dazzled with my middle aged good looks as I strode, without the face nappy, across to my car?
  11. I must have imagined the folk glaring at me last week then, when I took off the mask at the exit to the terminal I’m Glasgow, crossed the road to the NCP Car Park 2 and had the audacity to walk through the pay zone and into the covered parking area? I also must have imagined family relatives, who have their heads wrecked with watching too much Nicola on telly, who incessantly do LFT’s in accordance with her guidelines?
  12. I’m in London regularly with work (well at least it’s resumed this past month or two after a long break) and I’m here this week. Staying near Stansted and the flights all seem to be plentiful and flying very regularly and folk in the hotel using here as an overnight stop before going on holiday, like “the old days”. Heathrow was quieter than usual this Tuesday morning but in the city, it’s busy, rarely a mask in sight, restaurants and bars full of folk enjoying life and there’s always the option, for nervous folk, to wear a mask if they are uncomfortable in busy shops etc. It’s certainly a contrast to the dour approach at home which has created a culture of fear, nervous paranoia and folk sticking buds up their nose and down their throats anytime they leave the bloody house. I don’t enjoy coming home to have folk staring/ scowling at me for taking off my mask in the Glasgow airport car park with nobody within 50 metres of me in the NCP carpark.
  13. I will (very)occasionally wash my car if I’m motivated and have not a lot else to do on a pleasant summer morning otherwise I’ll happily let some Romanian lads crack on and clean the car for a fiver or go to Sainsbury’s car wash etc. Whereas my next door neighbour is an absolute tool who power washes his and his wife’s (insignificant and fairly old small) cars every weekend for hours on end. They’ve only been married a year and I’d have thought he’d have other better things to be getting on with on a weekend morning than taking the Karcher to his VW Golf like a man possessed!!
  14. When the caTs away, it’s Time to play. Nothing better than an hour or two’s peace, in the pub with a paper and a few pinTs.
  15. Horrible news that Sarah Harding from Girls Aloud has passed away, aged just 39. She had been battling cancer for a while and hopefully she is now at peace and free of pain. Thoughts must be with her family and friends.
  16. Damn this “circus of masks” with no more benefit to health than wrecking folks’ heads and confidence. Time for this nonsense to stop or be limited to medical environments.
  17. A clunge bump and several taps of her pert Polish breasts against by forehead and back.
  18. We went to see The Courier on Saturday and it was a really enjoyable movie. A true life gripping story with strong lead actors who gave some depth and credibility to the relationships between each other, colleagues and families. It also wasn’t too far- fetched, nor drawn out with silly “Tom & Jerry” type chases but retained the suspense you’d expect with Cold War espionage and the KGB on your case. I’d definitely recommend this movie.
  19. “Wound my heart with a monotonous languor” is the correct message.
  20. Tomorrow morning, we really should (in a better managed world) be having a 9am press conference by government addressing the plans on- education and restoration of a full year schedule in class with formal examination timetable, to ensure the next generation don’t have some asterisk against their coursework. Aviation and tourism; with plans on linking up on a Uk policy to safely allow travel for business, family reconciliation and holidays. No nannying or questioning why hard working folk want a week away. Health and a plan to address drug deaths as well as a plan to recruit staff and have a laid-out timetable on reducing waiting lists for operations and consultations delayed and on abeyance. Health and a plan on Covid-19 for the winter ahead, without fear but to bring in the youngsters, who can ensure a safe and smoother winter so we can save NHS resources for other critical seasonal flu viruses (and not fetish over one issue). Economy, work and “after COVID” plan to remove furlough, have business initiatives to support slow return to work businesses etc. Instead we get some drivel and posturing about masks, asking council beaks for a crowd at outdoor events and a deflection and dereliction of duty…she really is a spineless windbag when you look at it closely.
  21. It’s a badly managed shit- show, lead by a woman without reproach or questioning from within or outside from a weak media. I’m not a nationalist but 80% of family and friends are; there’s a lot of “scunnered’ folks tonight questioning why we bothered with vaccines which were to lead us out of this. There’s simply no public health emergency now with COVID-19 but there certainly is with numerous other issues compounded by 18 months of this nanny- nonsense, set up to promote SNP and our glorious leader. And to think we used to laugh at banana republic governments, tinpot dictators and lunatics currently in Belarus, when we have our very own light- touch single party lunatic state.
  22. 5000 allowed outdoors at events with councils to approve/ decline larger crowds. Face masks for the foreseeable future and a hint about vaccine passports. Absolutely gutted tbh as this shit- show is causing more harm than good. At least last Spring 2020, we had a focus but this now is just self- serving nonsense.
  23. We were in England a fortnight ago, on the day that they dropped restrictions and our daughter and her friend had a couple magic nights out in nightclubs. From what they said, it was 100% back to normal; quite a mental buzzing atmosphere too since it was opening night and first time in 17 months they had the young team in enjoying themselves. Either we lift our restrictions or we don’t, as any mealy- mouthed pointless caveats and “ for some time” oddball rules on standing at a bar or not being able to buy a bovril at the football in case you kill pensioners and children, surely won’t be tolerated. Of course this is, as we know, will be exactly what happens, just to continue the appearance the Scottish Government is seen to be more caring etc.
  24. For me, this mask issue is the elephant in the room. No defined end date or what data will constitute them being not required. Of course it’s all gotten political; we were in England last week and I gladly took the mask off but you still have shops, transport, unions basically saying the opposite of whatever the government were saying. Compliance was mixed and I certainly never wore it as I have never seen an ill fitted cotton rag being of any use. Nicola will retain them as long as there’s a hint of what’s considered to be high infection rates (anything more than one case probably) or if it looks different to what Boris is advising, just to be different. She’ll only bin them when compliance totally evaporates but there’s a whole chunk of folk who would blindly wear them forever unless told otherwise.
  25. Thanks mate, Watching it now on my iPad on the iPlayer. Cheers!
