  1. Make that 4-0, We are coming for the Tinks / Ton
  2. I have seen comments on how poor Motherwell have been recently. I may concur should we lose tonight. But actually we have been improving of late. Morton might be unbeaten in 12 or so games but we have only lost 2 in 12 one of which is our regular routine defeat to Rangers. And without doubt our run (Alloa apart) has been against much tougher opponents. I was and am quite worried when I saw the 5-0 scoreline v Dunfermline. It was a great and convincing win. But as bad as we have been in defence I genuinely could not believe how bad Dunfermline were for the last 3 goals. It was genuinely comedy defending. Probably even worse than that description. It looked like their defenders had not played football before. I still think the game will be won by the odd goal probably after ET. I am almost comforted to see the confidence of the Morton fans. Not saying it is misplaced, just that I would be more worried playing Morton on a poor run. It maybe makes no sense to say that but at least Motherwell will know how tough a game to expect and our fans, myself included know the game is very much 50/50. Edit to add. I noticed watching the Dunfermline highlights Morton had a long throw in expert. Hate playing against teams with one of those. Effectively every throw in anywhere near the goal line is like a corner. I also noted forecast at the moment is 40mph winds + on Friday Evening. I think I know how Morton may get one of their goals .
  3. Would expect there to be around 1500 away fans which is fairly decent given it is a Friday night on BBC. I am heading along and making a night of it in Glasgow before and after. Morton are absolutely flying and are the form side in the championship. So certainly a tough ask and with them scoring so freely, I very much doubt they will fail to score against us. We have tightened up a little at the back but yet we still seem partial to chucking one in and usually the 1st shot the opposition team has on target which is as annoying as it is bizarre. I think the fact we are playing in such a crucial game tomorrow night also plays into Morton’s hands and gives another slight advantage as does playing at home. All that said despite failing to win many games we have not lost many either. Only 2 in over a dozen which included games v both Rangers and Celtic (away). Our form over last 6 league games has in the top half. In the very recent draws v St Johnstone and Killie I would say we were the better side in both second half’s with the games at 1-1. Would not surprise me if this went to ET and even penalties. Any win will do .
  4. Clean sheet. What is that ? To be fair we defended quite well today. It is just unbelievable how many times we concede a goal from the opponents first attempt on target. To the point it is almost bizarre. St Johnstone, Alloa and Kilmarnock today. Was pleasantly surprised by how we played today. Made a Killie side with all the plaudits look bang average. Theo Bair is quite something. From 4th choice striker to 1st choice and deservedly so. He was a handful today. Also thought Paton was quite good today apart from his finishing. Also Davor. I was critical of him v Alloa but was impressed today. Will see if he can keep his place given the January recruitment. But he was very decent.
  5. 1st shot on target = 1 goal. Starting to become a bit tedious
  6. Let’s not revise history. KVV was a phenomenon. To score in 11 consecutive games for a club record was nothing short of superpowers. It is almost as if we took it for granted. I loved Louis Moult as we all did. But KVV took it to another level. I really like the post that suggested he would help wipe out our opposition for the drop was genius. Let’s hope he does. Who knows how well he will do for Killie. Still wish he came back to us. Hopefully he does not get on the pitch tomorrow. He is such a maverick genius
  7. Not entirely related but one of my friends mentioned that he saw somewhere that we would be due a solidarity payment from Cardiff of circa £75,000 for the Turnbull transfer from Celtic. Given he was brought through our youth academy. Not sure how accurate but would be a wee boost if true.
  8. A fair point. Not something I had thought of actually. I guess if he has other offers he may well move on. But in the absence of that, he definitely comes across as someone who wants to be a Manager and keeping us in the league is unlikely to excite the bigger clubs. Even if it is quite an achievement given the well documented challenges this season. Edit to add - just read the two posts above. Kinda similar thoughts. Also just remembered that I recall reading he was on a building site before he joined Motherwell. So I guess if he had the choice Football management would with us or anyone else be his preference.
  9. Tongue in cheek….tongue in cheek. Thought it would be fairly obvious
  10. I see a few comments about a new Manager come the summer. That imho will only happen if we get relegated. Stay up in 10th or via the play offs and I see SK in charge for next season. We have spend the last 24 hours discussing how much our budget has been cut back due to mistakes and overspending in previous seasons. If SK keeps us up this season he should stay in post. And no I am not related to him .
  11. Hard to argue with that. He should make the most of it. I doubt anyone else (ourselves included) will offer half of what he is currently earning. I am sure we will offer him a contract given he is our captain. But genuinely I wish we move on and see if we can get someone else in.
  12. I have not been near SO for months and sadly for everyone on here (especially one) I have no intention of going back. Not adding another striker is a glaring hole. But I guess it was not for the want of trying. I assume we missed out on at least half a dozen targets inc the fellow that ended up at Hibs at the death if the rumours are true. I noted the chap on BBC having a go at the number of full backs we have signed. Not mentioning that of the 7 we have signed 2 are away this window, 1 is injured long term and 1 we would rather play further up the pitch then we are possibly only 1 over expectations. Hopefully the new additions settle quickly. I think we will have enough to get 10th or above but it depends on injuries etc. Tough game tomorrow. Yesterday effectively confirmed that these days even Killie are operating to a different level financially, despite what one or two of their fans may try to claim.
  13. Looking forward to seeing the Kilmarnock all stars team at Fir Park. Kinda like the have nots v the haves. It is a miracle how Killie have achieved this squad assembly with a lower wage bill to us, their financial prudence and rigorous application of the £2k wage cap. A miracle. If we can keep it down to a 2 goal defeat we can call it a moral victory and move on to the teams around our level.
  14. Don’t forget everyone that we have Obika to come back from injury in a few weeks.
  15. Well that will be striker No 263 we have missed out on. I wonder of that is that. 4 minutes to go. Depends when we learned that the Sunderland boy was off to Hibs. Looks like the contract free market
  16. At least that will stop us from conceding comic cuts daft goals
  17. So are we still hoping for a striker ? Given we were prepared to spend £2-3k on KVV and missed out. Man Utd have an 18 year old called Kobee Mainoo. Maybe we can tempt him to come to Fir Park…
  18. Don’t worry apparently they have a £2k maximum wage cap
  19. But here is a thing….We spent £1m on improving our pitch. Because it is of the grass variety. Killie have a shite plastic pitch that costs f**k all. (Glad he went there than Paisley). But one wonders how they are able to afford KVV wages….
  20. That would actually make me laugh (at St Mirren)…at least he won’t be anywhere near fit to play against us this weekend.
  21. We can debate it all day long. The facts are (apparently) we have bid an amount to bring back KVV and it is not as much as our rivals. That may well be the prudent and/or correct thing to do. I guess it all depends on how he performs and the impact he has. He may well flop or not be as good as last season and many will say we dodged a bullet. What it does not stop or interfere with is the immediate annoyance and deflation if he goes to a rival. That is where I am currently at.
  22. We have 4.5 months left of the season. Say £6k per week x 18 = £108,000 I doubt even if St Mirren have offered that amount. We are still very much in a relegation battle last I checked. Is it worth spending an extra £30-40k to ensure top 6 v avoiding relegation. That is the question. Even if we finish 1 more place up the league that is an extra £65k. I hope the club know what they are doing. I guess it all depends what other striker we have lined up if as it seems KVV is not happening.
  23. Look I agree with anyone saying we should not break the bank for KVV. I do. If our rivals are prepared to throw silly money at Groningen then so be it. But I genuinely find it baffling that they can blow us out of the water unless our bid or wages offer was low in the 1st instance. We are in the market for a number 1 striker and a guy who scored in each of his last dozen or so games for us is apparently available. Bair can cope until he is match fit. Lets face it has anyways our last two games. So can Jack Vale assuming he is not being recalled after 1 day . He may not turn out to be as good as he was. But this will be a right kick in the haw maws for sure.
  24. But wait......is Killie's wage bill not significantly lower than ours...
