Great incentive for Dunbar and Whitburn. Play in a final at the opposing teams home ground. Surely a fairer way would be to play at a neutral ground or “draw straws”.

The Ammies are still around. They take it in turns with West Barns Star and East Linton to field the best of east East Lothian’s amateur footballers. It’s apparently East Linton’s turn next season.

Never, ever believe ANYTHING that a councillor or council tell you. Get it in black and white and signed off by the club lawyers as legally binding. Penicuik, Edinburgh City and Dunbar will testify to that.

Dunbar Utd have had lights since 2001, when the new ground was opened.

Playing each club once! Dunbar have played several clubs home and away and a few clubs we’ve not played at all. We’ve played the team at the top of the league 8 times and second place twice. I’m not sure reaching any “half way stage” would be a fair state of play.

I’d been hearing maybe 6 down depending on how things go in other leagues. However, surely we should be told how many down other than a seemingly movable number that started off as 4, then 5 and now possibly 6. How do clubs know where is safe? Play for top half just to avoid relegation?!

‘Fraid it’s not looking likely. With every passing week, it’s looking less likely. I can see us playing out the whole season in front of no crowds. I hope I’m wrong but it’s not looking hopeful from where I’m sitting and that’s in a region that WAS in tier 2 but is now back in tier 3. So, yeah, going backwards it is then!

Tomorrow’s Dundonald Bluebell v Dunbar Utd game has been switched to New Countess Park, Dunbar with a 2pm kick off.

Oooh! A wee first time visit to Inverkeithing or a return trip back to Oakley. No contest!!

JONES Malcolm (Dunbar) Very suddenly on Saturday 23rd November 2019, Malcolm, loving husband of Fiona, dearly loved dad of Geoff, Russell and Graeme, dear and devoted grandad of his five grandchildren, much loved brother of John, a very good friend of many. A funeral service to which all family and friends are invited will be held at Belhaven Church, on Friday 6th December at 10.30am, followed by a private family interment.

Given the circumstances at Humbug Park, I can confirm it was dull, drizzly, wet and getting darkish by the time the ref blew the final whistle. But by then, no-one was paying much attention. I was up on main road awaiting the ambulances. Sad day.

If only Dunbar Utd were able to benefit from a council handout too. We already have floodlights, but there are plenty of other things needing done, such as separate female toilets, larger officials dressing rooms, reroofed enclosure, that all require financing as well. Is this another Councillor Hampshire snub for Dunbar Utd?

Dunbar v Dundonald is only off cause we’re away in Fife at Oakley playing in the Alex Jack Cup Semi Final.

As you are probably now no doubt aware, Craigroyston have forfeited their Alex Jack Cup, 2nd Round tie against Dunbar United tomorrow. At short notice, Dunbar United would now wish to make it known that they have a team, pitch, referee etc all ready for a home match tomorrow at 2.30pm. One thing missing!! Opposition. Just hearing that Craigroyston have forfeited Saturday’s game against Dunbar Utd. Apparently there is a lack of signed players - not enough to get a team together. It’s a bit of a shame but a walkover to the quarter finals it is.

Gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised with Crossgates Primrose this season. Superb achievement and I look forward to my visit to Humbug Park next season in the EoS Premier League.

Anyone think it’s a bit strange that the club I support, Dunbar United, didn’t apply for a license but strangely enough we do have floodlights. From what I’ve read on here and in other places, that is certainly one huge hurdle cleared that other clubs haven’t managed. Other than the obvious registration fee (£2000 I believe) and the floodlights- what else is required to get a license? Just wondering!!

Been told yesterday that Berwick, if relegated, may move into the English non-league at Morpeth Town sort of level.

"A Team that eats at West Barns plays at West Barns" - by Cllr Norman Hampshire. This is the direct threat that Councillor Norman Hampshire, Deputy Leader of East Lothian Council, made to a full meeting of the Dunbar United Football Club committee a few months ago. It now appears to be happening as the sports centre that encompasses the football stadium continue to get more and more awkward to deal with. First of all, it was not being allowed to play friendly matches on our own pitch. Then it was not being allowed to train on our own pitch, meaning extra expense in renting the 3G facility that is owned by the Council and not the Hallhill Sports Centre. Then a fortnight ago, the club committee found themselves locked out of the sports centre for their weekly committee meeting. This resulted in one wheelchair bound weekly lottery volunteer and their carer to either sit out in the freezing conditions or go home without assisting. Finally, on Saturday... everything came to a head. The club were locked out of the committee rooms and the tea bar. This meant that visiting players, committee and supporters were unable to have the benefit of the usual club hospitality and there was a distinct lack of Pie & Bovril. All we can do is apologise to everyone connected to Arniston Rangers and try to make sure it will not happen again - but at this stage we can give no guarantees. Add this to the fact that the full size goals used for training on East Lothian Councils 3G pitch used by Dunbar United on Tuesdays and Thursdays now have been getting padlocked in an attempt to make them unusable. This is not a new problem with Hallhill and its board, there have been ongoing problems and niggles ever since the facility opened back in 2001 and the football clubs problems with a particular individual go back even further to the original Countess Park days. I hear that meetings and such like are likely to be held in the next days or weeks but at the moment, this is the state of affairs at Dunbar United. I am not a committee member of the club but I have the full support of the club who know and asked me to post this article. There will most likely be updates and future developments will be posted here.

I’m only a supporter of Dunbar Utd so I can only give my own personal view. What would it take to persuade the committee to join the EoS league? I’ve no idea to be fair.

My personal preference is stay. I suspect that the Juniors will be part of a huge pyramid in the fullness of time. In the meantime, we are Juniors.

The other Twitter account is linked to the gentleman who updates the website. He may be referring to “who knows what’s happening” in relation to what league we’ll end up in if the clubs that wish to leave actually do leave. The last I heard, there was still talk between SJFA and SFA about putting in some sort of block to clubs leaving at such short notice. I doubt the club Twitter account was referring to Dunbar Utd leaving Juniors. But as you said, all we can do is wait and see.

Not my Twitter account. Having spoke to several committee at Glenrothes On Saturday, the club have no plans on applying to the EoS league. None.
