  1. That will most likely be dependant on us getting promotion. Can't see us staying ft next season if we are in this league still. It will definitely be dependant on promotion. Not from the clubs point of view, although I’m pretty sure we’ll at best employ a hybrid PT/FT option if we don’t go up. But Nisbet at his age with his goal scoring form isn’t going to sign up to the possibility of another year in League 1. If he gets anywhere close to maintaining this form he’ll easily get a club in the championship or down south. Hopefully we go up then we have a chance of keeping him but i’d be stunned if he signed anything until he knows for sure where we’ll be playing. Good news if we are indeed signing a right winger, clear weakness in the side just now.
  2. Yep, Nesbit has been excellent. Who’d have thought missing out on Loy would have been the best thing that could have happened to us. Am I right in thinking there is only 2 league games he hasn’t scored in?
  3. Would agree with that, we went with a quality or quantity approach in the summer and have been extremely unlucky with injuries which was always the risk. To be without Vaughan, Hendry and Gillespie for a significant period of time will have a major effect. They are our 3 best players (except for arguably Nisbet) and all 3 would be in the discussions for best player in the league, any team would struggle without that quality. That’s not even mentioning Duggan who was one of the top scorers in the league last year with a dreadful East Fife team. I think we showed against Stranraer we’re capable of grinding out results and winning ugly and that will be what we need to do until some of the injuries clear up. If we are still in touch with Arbroath by December/January when injuries start to clear up and we can add a couple more to the squad i’d be pretty confident we’ll win the league but it seems like the next few weeks might be damage limitation.
  4. That would be me, in the exact post you quoted! . I think everyone’s aware of the struggles to get fans through the door and Livi’s poor crowds are widely acknowledged. I think the reason it was raised though was because it was a clear reduction on our own crowds this season. Hopefully it was just the October holidays and they’re back to their usual levels against Brechin.
  5. I’d say in comparison to ourselves. We had 2187 against Arbroath. I realise there was a few hundred Arbroath fans and it was a bigger game but 600 is still a big drop. Can’t see our crowd for the Montrose game but it’s still 162 down on our previous home game against Forfar. Not a substantial drop but I had hoped the return of McGlynn may have seen an increase in crowds. In saying all that I think the October holidays are the biggest factor in any crowd drop so we shouldn’t read too much into it.
  6. Fair play to him, like you say can’t have been an easy thing for him to do. Just shows that you never know what is going on behind closed doors, Nade always seems a confident, happy larger than life character. Strange to think he was scoring the winner for us at Ibrox only a number of weeks later. Glad the club supported him properly at the time and hopefully he is still getting the help and support he needs elsewhere after his recent troubles.
  7. Given our record (or lack of) for receiving and scoring penalties in the previous 2 seasons, I personally think Nisbet’s penalties should count double.
  8. We’ve just signed Callum Crane on loan from Livi, what’s he like? Obviously was good for you guys last season and I remember being impressed by him (along with the whole Alloa team) in the week which shall not be spoken about! But what type of full back is he? Defensive/attacking/good crosser etc.
  9. Was just about to say him. As far as I can see he doesn’t have a team and is a full back which we desperately need. His career seems to have had quite a fall from grace but if he was ever anywhere near his QOS form he’d be a very decent signing.
  10. I don’t think so. Sounds from his FFP interview he worked on the recruitment for the first 18 months of his 3 year stay but the last year and a half has been spent scouting opposition. It also sounds like he’s applied for the job a couple of times and been overlooked (can only assume for Smith and Hughes) and he definitely sees himself as a coach/manager rather than a scout.
  11. Really hope this works out for the club obviously but for John too. He’s a legend in my eyes and would hate to see his legacy tarnished in any way. If he doesn’t win the league he will have failed. How many Rovers managers have won 2 league titles with the club?
  12. I think it’s only fair we let Wardy post the first scarf over the head introductory photo tomorrow.
  13. I’m usually in the never go back camp but I’m happy with this. Exactly what the club needs right now on and off the pitch and should get the fans back on side. I wanted him after Gary Locke, although I was happy with Hughes like everyone. Hindsight’s a wonderful thing but McGlynn would have kept that team up. How many minutes till the first change it McGlynn shout on Saturday?
  14. The players loved Gary Locke, what they think of Cuthbert shouldn’t stop the board backing the new manager if he wants to empty Cuthbert and bring his own back room staff in.
  15. I’m holding out some hope that you may actually be related to Barry Smith and might just f**k off now.
  16. Would agree we need two more signings and one has to be a right winger. However, I think the other has to be full back cover. It’s a big ask for Watson to come in and play 36 games at a high standard having barely played before this season.
  17. Weirder than that, I know some part time players for the likes of Peterhead and Elgin who train with other teams closer to home through the week and only meet up on Saturdays with their own team.
  18. Received the email too as well as a note that all people that renew before 30th of June have the incentive/reward of being entered into a draw to win the new away top. Regardless of whether it was already in the pipeline or if there is actually somebody reading here it’s good work by the club, fair play.
  19. Slow uptake on season tickets after a failure of a season and then sticking with the manager responsible for that failure? Who’d of thunk it!? It’s old ground on the manager and it won’t change now so no point going over it but I’d imagine it should be pretty obvious to the club season ticket sales will be comfortably down this season. I’d also be very surprised if your post suddenly changed anyone’s mind into buying a season ticket. I will get one eventually, as I’m sure most on here will. But I’d class any football fan posting on a football forum amongst the ‘hardcore’. It’s the more casual fan who’s uptake will affect the numbers and budget more and those numbers will almost certainly be down due to the clubs decisions and performance on and off the field over the last couple of years. In danger of this becoming a rant but why don’t the club email/post out to all season ticket holders who haven’t renewed? A personal touch can go a long way. I’ve always thought there should be incentives for season ticket renewals instead of it being taken for granted also. Returning customers should receive some sort of reward even if it’s something as simple as £10 off your renewal or a discount for the club shop.
  20. I’d say a right back is needed more than a left back. Not sure Watson is ready to be relied upon as first choice. Murray at left back with Bene and Davo at CB and a new signing at right back is a solid back 4. Somebody able to play comfortably on both sides would be ideal. Someone like Gary Irvine but only not old and passed it.
  21. Not listened to the interview but surely he means we are 3 players away from a team i.e 11 players? Not including the youngsters promoted we have 8 senior players signed up for next season so that would make sense. Sure there will be more signings on top of that as is already indicated with talks for another keeper and striker.
  22. I’m not particularly excited by the Duggan signing but it’s hard to take some of the reviews by the East Fife fans seriously. Was he not their best player just a couple of months ago? I wonder what changed their minds...
  23. Not surprised, been coming a while. Sure he will be a big miss as he did a great job with the youth team and was very enthusiastic and active in the community side of things. However, he has also been involved with 2 first team season failures, although I’m not sure what, if any, input he had amongst the various management teams so that is perhaps unfair. Interesting change of tone in the statement, hopefully moving away from the ‘Can’t stand in his way’ comments were used to seeing.
