As it was, I thought the ref was really good. I noted @PauloPerth saying he was in favour of us - care to point to any examples? Thought Sylla stuck his head into a few 50/50s and St Johnstone players tried to take his head off which led to St Johnstone fans not being happy but nothing egregious comes to mind.
To be fair, the first one Sylla got for that was against Nicky Clark - his head was down about knee height and Clark didn’t actually touch him, but he gave an indirect free kick for high feet anyway. That was a bizarre decision especially if you saw it side on. The one where he booked Max was fair enough.
The only reason for VAR or get involved in the “goal” at the end would have been if the keeper had gone over the line before McGowan tried to head the ball, which it clearly hadn’t. Beyond that it’s obviously a foul and everyone in the stadium knew it. Same story at our goal - there was clearly no foul there or offside so what were they looking at?
As far as the McCracken on Sidibeh incident; that was actually on the Sky highlights and having seen it back it was a pretty brainless move by the keeper and if he’d had a penalty against him he couldn’t really have argued - he’s got the ball in his hands, has both feet on the ground, has stopped moving and just knees Sidibeh in the chest. I can’t imagine another scenario anywhere on the park where you can deliberately play the man and it not be a foul, especially when VAR is constantly wading in and giving penalties for totally unintentional and incidental contact. It was just a really weird and awkward incident all in.
VAR is a load of shite though.

I haven't seen the highlights and I'm assuming that incident probably isn't in them but it looked very weird from my angle - like his leg didn't really come away from his body until he'd landed back on the ground. Usually keepers bring their knee up when they jump for the ball and not on the way down. Had no expectation at all that it would be given as a foul and even if it was, it was never going to be a red card.

Would it though? Was it an actual shot on target that hit his hand? It looked from my angle that the guy was just trying to poke it past him but there was nobody else up there and he’d be going some to have scored with that shot from that position. It was the fact that it rebounded off Mitov’s arm that created the actual goal scoring opportunity. Definitely need to see it again.
He should never have needed to come out into that area though - no idea where the rest of our defence had meandered off to.
between about 30 and 60 minutes we were well on top and the goal had been coming for quite a while when it came.
Levein fucked it though. Several players were clearly knackered by 70 minutes and when the winner came we’d still only made one sub. That was a colossal error and the tired legs made a pretty big contribution to the winner.
Could easily have equalised again given we hit the post and the bar (albeit in a bizarrely non threatening way) but we should never have been in the position of needing to. Dundee made the changes to freshen it up, we didn’t and we paid the price.

First round of the year earlier this week. Got round in a nett +1, which is fine given it was absolutely soaking and my first time on the course in four months.
Required 44 (that's FORTY FOUR) putts though, including two spectacular four putts. So a clear focus to work on for the new season...

The SC final against United was unreal but it was so stressful because I was so desperate for the win. I pretty much had a panic attack when Ando scored.
I still enjoyed the double even though we were only able to see it on TV because it's still your team at the end of the day. And it was still stressful as f**k.
The first one against United was torture. Time went backwards after the second goal. United were never getting back into it but it genuinely felt like an hour before the final whistle went.
The double was obviously very different because we couldn’t be there, but the memories are still incredible. I watched the LC final with my dad at home. I could tell he was nervous because he disappeared out with my dog at half time and didn’t come back til about 70 minutes.
The SC final I watched with my mates at someone’s house. When we scored you could hear people all up the street celebrating. I just about decapitated someone celebrating the goal. Not the same as being there but still brilliant.

If these timers are right then there was no benefit to logging in before 10am. It didn't refresh for the CAPTCHA code until 10:03 and it has obviously started you in the queue based on when you put that in.

Meanwhile the boy beside me at work logged in at 10:02, got it immediately and his bar is further along than mine. I'd expect there to be plenty in Garching itself, but as said above you're in a perfect location for the Allianz arena, 20ish minutes from the city centre at Marienplatz by direct u-bahn train but also all down that underground line (U6) there are plenty of places to eat/drink. Quite a studenty area right down the west side of the Englischer Garten - if you jump off the train at Studentstadt, Alte Heide or Munchner Freiheit you'll be within seconds of a decent boozer.
If the weather's decent a wee afternoon in the Englischer Garten with a beer and a currywurst is *very* pleasant.

penalty against Celtic was never a penalty though. I did think the penalty against hearts was soft to. Kinda feel like we are approaching a point we’re VAR may impact how players actually play the game at this point.
The more direct comparison is Kyle Vassell’s red card against Hibs, where he puts his foot up at about shoulder height and actually succeeds in controlling the ball and turning with it. Very similar incident to Yang but the foot is marginally lower and he actually has control of the ball.
It was upgraded to red by VAR and IIRC the appeal was upheld. Yang’s was worse than that one, so if you’re going to be consistent it’s a definite red.
Celtic’s biggest issue yesterday was missing their own nonsense of a penalty at 0-0.

That one today is given when Iwata knows not a thing about it, and has his hand in a perfectly reasonable position in the circumstances. Meanwhile, VAR looked at this yesterday - Mikey Devlin slapping the ball away from Nicky Clark's head having led into the jump with his arm - and decided it wasn't a foul.
Make it make sense.

I think it's very difficult for a striker to try and keep himself onside when the line is being drawn from a part of the defender that is further away from the goal than the actual furthest back part of his body.
The centre half's arm would be playing Shankland onside there. I don't see how Shankland is meant to keep his line there when he can't possibly know which part of the body an offside line is going to be drawn against.

There was - somewhat incredibly - a game on down the Riverside pitches last night about 6pm (and btw, absolutely f**k that in that rain last night) - maybe they could shift it down there?
