  1. This is the most optimistic I have been before an Alloa game for a while, hopefully the hoodoo ends this week. Confidence should be high despite the undeserved defeat last week. Agree we missed Miller Thomson last week, fingers crossed he is back tomorrow. The team/style of play/confidence is unrecognisable from that of the early league fixtures, going for a Thomson inspired 2-1 home win
  2. I had said that too, can’t believe there wasn’t a stretcher for him just incase he made the injury worse by walking round the pitch
  3. Opposite end from us obviously, looked to be given for handball against Dillon when he slid in to the challenge
  4. I thought Steeves (our no.3) was going to walk as well, no coincidence he was immediately subbed after the incident. I would have snapped your hand off for a point before the game, gutted to leave with nothing, but what a strike to win it. Didn’t help that we let Falkirk move up to our final third unopposed in the build up. I was convinced the incident for our penalty happened outside the box. The ref looked toward the linesman who indicated penalty. as for the time wasting, it’s now a part of the game, it can win you a game or come back and bite you on the arse. Onwards to next week, difficult match against bogie team Alloa. Hopefully have Miller Thomson back, he was a big miss today, really could have done with his ability running with the ball as well as holding it up
  5. after 4 wins on the bounce and everyone feeling a little better about our form, I kinda see this as a free hit for Montrose. Unlike previous couple of seasons we aren't really expected or expecting to get much from the 4 matches against Falkirk. I'd be more than happy to come away with a point but realistically going to be watching a spirited performance and a narrow defeat - who knows, could be, and hopefully am wrong. Williamson - never really took to him to begin with, didn't look a footballer at all to begin with but slowly coming round to him, he's looked impressive and confident last few games Wonder if SP will be tempted to play 3 centre halves with Waddell back, hopefully not as that would probably mean Webster missing out and a change of role for Gardyne who is probably playing his best football for the club at the moment
  6. Really enjoyed that game, not just because of the win, it was actually a really good game. Very close first half, but think Montrose were the better team second half and deserved the win. Agree we are seeing a better Gardyne just now playing a more holding central role. Kane did a lot of good running and Murray Thomson was just superb. Hopefully the arm injury isn’t anything serious. Looking forward to Falkirk away next week
  7. Just found the highlights of SPFL website, shocking camera work for Miller Thomson’s second goal. The entire run, and nearly the finish, was missed by focusing on a player lying on the pitch
  8. Looking forward to this match, impressed with the team Stirling have put together and this should be a really good game. So far this season, returning ex-Mo players have enjoyed success at Links Park (apart from (c)Rusty the Clown last weekend) , hopefully Lewis Milne does not have a similar level of success. Would still have liked to be seeing him in a Montrose kit this season, think he suffered with the 'Rory-ball' tactics a little last season
  9. Pleasing and deserved 3 points. 4-0 up at your break without being outstanding, edinburgh are woeful at the back. Good to get Steeves back for an hour or so and some more minutes for Masson and Callaghan. A goal for Lyons as well will give him more confidence. Big Aidan looked good as well, he was missed when he went off Murray Thomson looks a class player, his second goal evidence of that. Second half a bit of a non event for us with the job done. Can imagine the management team will not be happy about conceding the 2 goals from corners
  10. Feeling much better about things after 2 decent away victories in last 2 games. Hopefully carry this on in to this home match on Saturday and pick up 3 more points. Team are playing much better football in the 'post-McAllister era', actually decent on the eye rather than the lump to Rory for a head flick strategy
  11. @CoveRangers1922 do Cove not publish highlights? Would like to see Craig Brown’s goal from the angle the cameras would have caught it
  12. Not much interest in this game I guess seeing as I’m starting a thread 3 hours after the game finished Much, much better performance from Montrose today. Back to playing decent football instead of lumping it. Brilliant finish from Craig Brown for the first and composed finish from Hester to wrap it up. Considering the players missing today it shows a decent bit of promise for us. Good to see Matthews keep the clean sheet, Liam getting more minutes and a decent performance from Blair Lyons. Miller Thomson looks a great player as well. Cove fans must have been disappointed with a fairly lacklustre performance, boos from the home fans at the final whistle
  13. Looks like we’ll be playing with better width today. Good to see Liam back and fit enough for the bench
  14. Good to get another body in, hopefully see some Midfielders arrive that we badly need
  15. And hopefully back to playing football instead of lumping it forward as much. Might even see some wing play now. Wonder if the money will be reinvested before the window closes?
  16. Would appear Montrose have been kind to us and not put out any ‘highlights’ so we don’t have to relive that performance last Saturday!
  17. He was never the same player when he came back to us from Raith, but was still a good option for us. I'd have kept him so we had that option and an extra body in the squad but SP must not have fancied him, or maybe his demands for a new contract were too high?
  18. Very concerning. Our squad is paper thin, badly need waddell back and more bodies in midfield. Yet to be convinced with Williamson, just doesn’t look like a footballer!! Feel we need to play 3-5-2 if we see to play both mccallister and Hester, only having 4 on midfield means we are overrun there but do we have the players to do that? This is going to be a long season, and most probably spent fighting in the bottom Half of the league
  19. Zero positives to take from that today, honking from first whistle to the last
  20. i think we need to focus more on a central defensive midfielder and an attacking central midfielder - like Whatley and Milne but better!
  21. Hopefully more to follow, another couple needed anyway
  22. Annan v Montrose. Good luck trying to see what happens with Montrose goals, terrible camera location for them
  23. interesting interview with SP after the game, although I didn't agree with his thoughts about us being on top of the game in spells it was good to hear some new faces could be in this week. badly need Central Midfielders and Defenders
