Rank the Managers - Premiership Edition
sophia replied to Ludo*1's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
I would suggest that not all of this content is verifiable. It's especially compromised as Hughes was the opposition manager when one of these clubs was relegated. -

I'm missing going to the football terribly, I miss seeing my compadres, I wish our defenders wouldn't keep on selling goals, I hope Sean Welsh recaptures his top form, I trust our attackers will click, top four seems forlorn, I can't begin to think how our directors are balancing the books but I will never give the impression that I am anything less than willing the best of fortunes for the club. Anything less would make me feel uncomfortable and that's no place to be when constructing a fan's manifesto.

audacious, there's time for another audacious

As well taken as the defending was tragic. I'll be glad to see ICT survive this season as a championship club

An ironic arm break.... said Alanis the commentator

Keatings being held "in the penalty arc" Sounds awfully painful

He didn't have it under control and it wasn't a difficult angle. Myles Storey can't play football

Statto! Ok, I admit it, the volume is back up

Yay, he's on! (turns down volume in favour of "get it on" with Bryn Burnett)

I saw the interview with Glenn Campbell this morning and whereas there were balancing caveats, there did seem to an assumptive air of guilt about the broadcast.

It was 2014 and I recall a debate in Eden Court and Nicky Marr, a local "personality" venturing what in her mind was the profound construct of two plebiscites. When she finished and despite what I expect was her expectation, there was silence in the room and although I had sympathy for her, I wondered just why she thought it was reasonable to overreach. For us in 2021 I look forward to the opportunity to consider a prospectus that is as manifestly robust as it will be our democratic foundation.

The onslaught by opportunistic politicians with regard to vaccine jags to drive the narrative that we are somehow incompetent as compared to others on this island has passed but what remains is the stench of short term soundbites and a media that feels that it is incumbent upon them to give equal weight to the obviously laughable and the reasonable. Perhaps we should all take a moment to laud W Rennie et al and to put their contribution to our collective heft in a context that is deserving of their cerebral effort. How do we celebrate Willie?

I had a read of this piece in the Holyrood magazine and Jenny Marra's impression of "Scottish exceptionalism". I was genuinely puzzled by this and setting aside the possibility that she was making a parting and partisan political shot, my take is that the substantial driver in our civic confidence and the move to self governance is the discovery that there is another way beyond the tired obsessions of empire, battle glories, monarchy and ruling the waves. Simply put, the rejection of the fallacious construct of the right that dominates and is underpinned by another type of exceptionalism. Is there really a significant cohort that subscribes to the idea that Scotland is exceptional?

That date will be moved It would take a great force to move May the fourth or even the sixth and I'd be interested to live through such a phenomenon.
-
Trial date of the former SNP MP scheduled for the 4th of May, two days before the Scottish parliamentary election date of the 6th.

border checks can't come soon enough for me

I'm happy to confirm that it won't apply to direct flights from New Zealand

It seems to me that the grandstanding by members of the committee, most notably M Fraser, J Baillie and A C-Hamilton is increasingly counter productive. Whereas forensic probing might reveal something, the likes of the bold Murdo demanding "yes or no, answer yes or no" makes it too partisan and it all ends up he said / she said at best.

The Yogi Hughes Ross County Appreciation Thread
sophia replied to Ric's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
You're at it and you know it. During the time period that spans the return of the triumphant J Hughes to the highlands, his new team has played one more game than only one team and they are four points behind. News just in.... It appears the the bold streaker claims that his employer "have" an indoor training ground that they have been using on a daily basis. This will be the community facility that ICT haven't been able to book. J Hughes has crossed a bridge too far and he's in danger of exhausting my goodwill. -
The Yogi Hughes Ross County Appreciation Thread
sophia replied to Ric's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Hmm, by my reckoning the OP's fortunes during the course of this thread are in inverse proportion to the much maligned but most successful manager in the history of highland football. He deserves that accolade given his delivery of an Inverness Scottish Cup win and European adventure. Since the return of JH... Played, points Ross County 9, 10 St Johnstone 9, 10 Motherwell 9, 9 Dundee Utd 9, 8 Kilmarnock 9, 6 Hamilton 8, 5 Oh dear. It rather looks like the numbers aren't stacking up for the naysayers. -
He was. It was an open and shut case.
