  1. Off the top of the head I can only think of 3 drivers who got replaced midseason, (excluding the RBR connected drivers/teams). Teams tend to be more ruthless once a season has finished, Jolyen Palmer was sacked by Renault in 2017 (?), with Palmer finding out by social media before the team even spoke with him. IIRC he was replaced by Sainz when Sainz was start to see that RedBull was going to focus more on Max then him. (Sainz taking a lesson from the Alonso book in how to chose teams poorly) Nelson Piquet Junior was sacked by mad Flavio Briatore midway through the 2009 season, ironically replacing one deliberate crasher with a constant crasher in Romain Grosjean. Pretty sure this was the catalyst event which lead to Piquet confessing his sins and lead to Flav's ban from the sport. Then Heinz-Harald Frentzen got dropped by the mad rumour mill generating machine that is Eddie Jordon. By all accounts there was a frank and open discussion about how bad the car was after Silverstone, which result in Frentzen calling Eddie names, and Eddie promptly ripping up the contract and telling him to piss off days before Heinz's home GP.
  2. Helmut Marko by name.....Helmet by nature.
  3. Horrible news from the accident at Southern 100 races on the Isle of Man - https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/southern-100-rider-and-marshal-confirmed-dead/ It's one thing for a death in a road race to be a competitor, but for the incident to involve a marshal as well is heart-braking.
  4. Going to get some pelters for this one here.....but binning De Vries after just half a season is bat shit move. He's barely had any testing going into this season and is playing catch up to his teammate who is now in his third season. Looking at his results you'll see he has been closing the gap on Tsunoda over the past few races as he got to grips with what is possibly the worst car on the grid at the moment. Nick is a good driver whose not really got it going as fast as he needed to, the days of a Taki Inoue or Ricardo Rosset are long gone now and being at the back of the F1 grid doesn't mean you are a terrible driver. He just got into F1 too late in his driver development process. There's something mental about that Red Bull program which just chews drivers up, look at Albion who is thriving away from the Red Bull glare and Gasly who has been better since he left.
  5. Stroll not getting penalised for going outside the track limits to complete the pass........somebody make it make sense after last week's fiasco.
  6. Max not really gapping the McLaren's here.
  7. Clach also has us down to play a Friendly on the 14th, which I'll imagine will be the youth prospects since the 1st team play the following day.
  8. Strange, yesterday was fine (was able to fire up twitter and follow a number of accounts during the F1 race, Indycar and NASCAR racing last night) without any issues. Just scrolled for my break and now limited again.
  9. Just checking in with the resident happy clappers here......am I allowed to criticise County for the away strip. Because fucking hell.....
  10. I think we can safely agree that Shane van Gisbergen is the best all round driver in the world at the moment....put him in any car and he's going to be competitive from the get go.
  11. So looks like Sainz drops down to sixth, with Norris and Alonso moving up to fourth and fifth respectively. Hamilton swaps places with Russell, Gasly and Stroll swap positions for the last places in 9th and 10. All others outside the top 10. Also, special congratulations goes to Ocon here....
  12. Think that's been asked before but rejected as Dorna (Moto GP) require that part to be tarmacked off.
  13. Apparently over 1200 reported incidents of cars leaving the track......this may be a long review.
  14. I think so too and generally if that is the case I can see most people hit 600/800 per day very easily. Rather than provide a better experience for paying blue tick virgins....Elon's goal seems to be to make it worse for those who remain unverified and hope they will jump over. Alternatively, it could be that we have now moved into a new finical Quarter of the year (Q3) and Twitter have no funds to pay its cloud vendors, so they have to cut usage substantially. Regardless.....another masterstoke from the genius that is Musk
  15. Depends upon what considered a 'read' and what's happening. Tend to only use Twitter to keep up to date with certain events (County games when on TV, major sporting events or breaking news events). So if I refresh my feed during a major event and get 50 new tweets, does that mean I've had 50 new 'reads'.....or do I need to click on the tweet for it to be a 'read' Also, considering how ingrained Twitter is to major events, it's almost risky to get it limited with a nondescript 600 limit (now moved to 800 because Elon's panicking a bit)
  16. St Johnstone fans still not over Richard Brittian rejecting them after a few weeks.....wasn't that mini bus we gave you enough to let bygones be bygones.
  17. Considering the recruitment history of County.....that's a rather bold statement to make.
  18. Did.....did Sainz just do the same again with Albon this time?
  19. Well, end of the holiday to the TT.....11 years in and I'm still not bored with this event.
