  1. With only one possible train that would get them here on time (the 09.47 Aberdeen to Kdy in at 11.45) there might not be too many. Mind you I'll bet that train is very busy.
  2. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that Queens have a good season and come up to help you in your future quest.
  3. In the cup we've a poor record against the wee Rovers during my time of supporting Raith. The infamous Fat Mark game at Sp was bad enough but my 1st ever away game in the supporters club was at Cliftonhill circa 1976/77. Scottish cup 3rd round us div 1 and them div2. Freezing cold pissing rain and pumped oot the cup beaten 1-0 courtesy of a Bernie Slaven goal. I do remember both Keith Wright and Paul Smith hitting hat-tricks in a 6-0 league demolition of them at Coatbridge too though. Edited to add I've only to see Rovers at Annan, Elgin and New St Mirren park for my full set.
  4. Aye mibbies, as long as Fat Mark Yardley isn't planning a comeback.
  5. Was going to suggest we have another game along the lines of how long until the P**s go back into administration and shaft their creditors yet again? But who cares, this is the Raith Rovers thread. As the man said earlier seaside leagues for this pish!
  6. Could be the ideal test for the new pitch if it calms down a bit and stops before mid-day as that's still give it 3 hrs to dry out before kick-off. Otherwise I agree we'd be as well binning it early.
  7. Alreet Pet? Edited to add, Further cementing my supposed arrival in the techno age,
  8. Pfft so they think! Truth is I'm nightshift and so far it's been a quiet one. (famous last words....)
  9. Interesting stuff, like the look of Birch but then again Masson hit a pearler of a free kick and we've lost Conroy for them. Players wise we are showing a squad of 24 with another joining tomorrow but 4 of them are keepers. We seem fairly well covered in all areas except up top where if Stewart (one not known for his prolifiency sp) was to be injured would leave us with just Vaughan and Wighton. I think I'd have liked to see another striker come in. I'd like to see Cuthbert go to free up a wage as I'm sure he'll be on more than Laidlaw who I think is as good a keeper and will only get better with age. Defensively we can only hope Benedictus and Toshney will be able replacements for Watson and Hill who I thought were our strongest pairing last year. Midfield, even without another signing we seemed to have plenty of Central guys but are a but short of cover for wide men. I'm sure it'll all work out fine in the end, in Ray we trust.
  10. There was no way Elliot was getting another contract and even before the 2nd last game of the season he knew it. "I hadn't had the best of seasons and I knew there would be no new contract on offer" He said in his newspaper article. As for the Rovers I too am a bit disapointed in their stance, even if Elliot hasn't been the greatest of signings I'd have thought that there would be some insurance cover for players. I too would now worry that this could lead to setting a dangerous president with players unwilling to play at a seasons end when know they will not be offered a new contract. Imagine the scenario Raith needing points to stay up and Players refusing to pull on jerseys. As for the tackle it was a real horror show as the Livvi man went right through him. Talbot is a thug, he'll fit in well at Pars,
  11. Gunter is indeed away, and was non to complimentary on certain aspects of his departure. He also didn't seem too keen on our signings so far.
  12. He can hit as many of them next season as he like's. But will any go in?
  13. Mine too, the 1978 model seemed to be made of blue hessian, by 1980 they'd progressed to a softer material which was much more forgiving on the rasp's. Incidentally my first Scotland top was of the same era and was very similar but not quite as coarse (Mibbies Umbro used better sacks than Bukta). I also had the Rovers white trackie top and blue bottoms.
  14. So which McAusland is it that we are supposedly after? Is it the St Mirren reject Marc or the ex-Rangers/Pars dud Kyle? Both are free agents according to the web.
  15. I once saw Prest and the Argie keeper Gonzalez (sp) down the Links market one Friday night all done up in their white clobber, silly boys They ware just at the start of it at the Tiel end, I'm betting by the time they got to the other end at Nicol St they weren't so clean and bright.
  16. Clarkson news is great if true. As for the keeper debate I'm with Raith 92/93, Cuthbert has shown nothing to merit being kept. At 23 Laidlaw is still a baby (keeper wise) and has a lot to learn. Although nowhere near over the hill Cuthbert hasn't impressed at anytime where as Laidlaw has, he was superb at Easter rd earlier in the season.
  17. Very disappointed at the departure of Dougie, I thought the defence was much more stable with him and Watson in it than Watson and Barr. I think McCord will be a good signing for us and if we can bring in another central defender, another Winger and a striker then we'll have the makings of a decent side.
