  1. I think it was early November, I don't think he's been in a squad since before the 5-2 QP game.
  2. Like I said if they cannot see the connection of defeat leading to a potential lack of income for the club and any associated (blindingly bleeding obvious) consequences to the club given the recent statements from the boards, then they are either living in said bubble or are stupid beyond words. It's not a threat but it's definitely reading between the lines. True and like Newcastle yesterday it was an unexpected defeat. How many of those teams fans are saying that should never have happened happened as opposed to the one's blithely saying "oh well that's the cup, it happens" ? The guys are STILL right to expect progression just like those EPL teams fans did. The big difference is No Newcastle or Aston Villa players will be worried about their contracts because the defeat does not effect them in that was, but for our players the same cannot be said. Not having a run in the FA cup for Newcastle or Aston Villa is at best a disappointing inconvenience but no huge financial impingement. Progressing and drawing the O.F. or getting a televised game (or both) could potentially pay for a much needed player or two which could see us finishing in the top 4. The difference between our placings in the last 2 seasons was £150,000 in prize money, that impacts massively on budgets for contracts.
  3. Really? Not like you to get 5 from 2+2. You obviously didn't agree with the two other guys but I actually think they were 100% spot on. Romance of the cup aside, any side in the Championship would be expecting to progress progress past a team 3 full divisions below them, cup shocks come and go but very rarely with such a gulf in between. Again I am in agreement with the other comment, if the players are living in a complete bubble and are so clueless to the financial state of the club to the extent they neither know nor care about the need to progress and hopefully draw a plum financial tie then we really are fecked! Tenor of the post was if they don't progress then they must know the likelihood's of new or improved contracts diminish. You were the only one to say "Fired", getting told you're sacked and being told we cant afford to renew your contract are a bit different. Mind you maybe the team are just of the thinking that "we did our bit last season and won through to two games at Celtic Park and a cup final and the directors spunked away the lot! So that's the point?"
  4. I'm sure you are right MW, I don't think there's any club where it's not down to the Chairman or his delegate on the board to negotiate the wage and a player's length of contract. The manager targets a player, if they agree with the choice then the board tell the manager a ballpark figure of what's available, then he approaches the target or/and his representative. if initial talks are favourable then fine tuning is done by the player and the money men. Anything else would mean the manager would be setting the budget and buying who he wanted.
  5. How did we manage to make such losses with 3 accountants on the board, one of whom was the Supreme Head of a Global Accountancy firm in the Far East and another was a senior man (Director or partner?) in the Deloitte Accountancy firm. Then you got their pal who was the Chancellor of the Treasury..........ah I think I see where this started to unravel. Pity we didn't have a CEO to straighten things out when they weren't going right.........The charlatan employed in the role obviously didn't! I can't see fan ownership or foreign overlords working, this club needs to be locally joint owned, there are about 20 people in the area who have a £1m or more, we don't need one to pump in £150k a year but if a handful of them could just play nice and be willing to fling in £20k or £30k a season when required it'd be a step in a better direction. Oblivion beckons?
  6. Turgid stuff with one brief moment of quality on a bitterly cold afternoon. Other than the 3 points, my only plus point of the day? That I’m not a Accies fan having to watch that every time, Rovers are fairly pish tbh but oh my Accies are stinking.
  7. Losing an average £150k for 17 years runs up a debt of 2.45m, if £500k of that’s been paid off it leaves almost £2m. If Sim has funded that then the return of that along with about £1m for the club could be about right. Of course it is, just like publicly asking for £3m but being willing to accept less. McGlynn and Murray both made poor choices but at the end of the day it was the board and especially the chairman rubber stamped the deals, they were the ones who negotiate and agreed transfer and signing fees, contract lengths and salaries. Are you suggesting there’s actually only one man really pulling the strings? Unthinkable surely! Say it ain’t so.
  8. Outside of the odd cretin or two, I don't think it was really that divisive at all, now if you'd said "calamitous........"
  9. Didn't see the game as I'm not home until Wednesday, but I followed the updates, which made for uninspiring listening. Stat's wise according to the BBC we managed 3 shots at goal (same as Arbroath), 2 on target (to their 3) and had 4 corners (to their 5). We shaded possession by 52-48%, which is incredible as with 80 mins gone Arbroath had 58% of the play. Murray talks a good talk, "No team will out-work us" etc but he can't walk the walk, as for getting rid, I'd disagree at present as there really is no point. He's far from being much good and looking more and more out of his depth, but who out there is: A. available, B. Affordable C. (most crucially) Any better than what we already have in Murray? In the last 12 months the board of directors have really turned this club around. Which is a shame considering the upwards momentum we enjoyed for the 2 years leading virtually up to last New year. I think it's not just Ian M who's clueless.
  10. Did I hear the stadium announcer correctly "148 away fans"? QP on the up right enough, that's more than 3 times what they've brought to any game in Kirkcaldy since I started following the Rovers in the 1970s.
  11. QP defended well and put bodies on the line when they needed to....we didn't! Probably didn't deserve to be beaten by 3 goals, but if you don't take your chances....then perhaps you do. Dick certainly had a game to forget, 1st he gives away the free kick in a bad area for the equaliser, has 2 deflections to totally wrong foot Jammer and when he fails to convert for what would have been our equaliser he's then miles away and can't get back to where a centre back should be to defend a break away, but he's not the only one at fault as Spencer, Ngwenya and Millen had bad day's too. A few players still sharpening up LV, JG & ER but If I'm honest everyone else out there bar Connolly just weren't at the races by their own standards, misplaced passes, wrong options taken and being caught out of position made it easy for QP to exploit. On another day it could have been very different but it wasn't, Murray needs to take his share of the blame too. His "we're getting beat so I'll throw all my strikers on" ploy hasn't worked at all and was never going to.
  12. Good bodies on the line defending by Queens, that was the difference. On another day deflections go different but today no. Queens more clinical and worthy winners but could have been different. Murray is a massive p***k though!
  13. Accies will feel rightly aggrieved, most would probably agree that the better team on the night lost. Accies had more possession, more shots at goal and more efforts on target, more corners and less fouls and bookings. All of which counts for hee haw when the other team is more clinical and scores more goals (the only stat that reallly counts), as they say "that's fitba!"
  14. My guess would be nowhere really since Wallaces closed down. I don't know what their pehs are like but Roughys (Rough & Fraser) used to do a pretty fine line in mince on a roll, quality after a night out in the town.
  15. Shhhh! I't's enough that she just be gone! Where? Who knows cares. When? Wasn't announced but it was the end of last month AFAIH. Why? Probably lots of reasons! Like with other mistakes made, the Rovers have a standard policy. Try to deal with it, get someone else to fix it (eventually), say as little as possible and hope it's quickly forgotten about. John Sim ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
  16. Just a they found out at Inverness when a couple of them were kicking chairs until they broke them. The atmosphere can be great (Partick in the Challenge cup) but sometimes the baggage they bring with them means they aren't worth the bother.
  17. I noticed that after I posted, but I still think he's not a big bit of their plans and I think the loan will be cut short.
  18. Rovers on nice a wee run of form and looking stronger and stronger as the season goes on, however it's an increadibly tight league and as Partick will tell you a few defeats and it's a whole different outlook. Much of the above is down to the squad looking stronger too so I wonder what the manager will be hoping for in the next transfer window? In midfield we are as strong as we could hope to be and probably have one of if not the strongest midfield in the division so I doubt we'll see any changes unless perhaps Coulson goes out on loan. Defense is still a bit light imo, with only limited full back cover, but due to limited finances I'd doubt well see anyone new arriving unless O'Riordan is recalled by Crewe. Up front Frederickson offers something different (to a degree) but has his limitations and most importantly isn't really a goalscrorer. With the best will in the world I can't see him wanting to go with the hope that LV can stay injury free (and not just the obvious) until May. That we have Gullan and Ross to come back may swing it for the staus quo but much will depend on what's on Ian Murrays mind with regard to Connell, will he try to deal him in or look for a fresh (more potent) option? If it were possible I'd be looking to take Jack Hamilton on loan from Livvi in January, he'd not been getting much of a look in at Hartlepool and I still think his loan will be cut short.
