  1. The Kraut Kreeper Why Zen? Don't you think the signing of DG put enough women off supporting us? He looks scary AF to me but to put it another way (as the wife did) Creepy!
  2. Get both! We could sing we've got 1, we've got 2 Naismith's more than you. Different spellings methinks
  3. If the Jam Tarts miss out on Europe as it's looking increasingly likely then Naismith will be needing a job too. Speaking of Nay-Smith's, who'd entertain Gary as an assistant?
  4. Cameron is also a former Dundee player, Murray may want it. A savvy No 2 is quite an interesting debate to have.
  5. Goodwin likely looking for a new job in the next week. Another curve ball how about HSWHW with a smart assistant?
  6. Interesting observation, it must be something, could be something juicy, and I love a good rumour me, with or without substance. If he fancies a Crack at Woking abroad Vallendupar-tick could be right up his street.
  7. Murray is probably on a par with McPake, McInnes is probably the better manager. I hope Murray stays for the continuity aspect more than anything we have seen he's been capable of so far, but if he goes I might be surprised but won't be too distraught. Mickey, Potter or Thomson just No! Can't see Jack Ross, Cal Davidson or similar coming. Tam Courts would be a good shout, as would Naismith if he doesn't land the Jambo gig permanently. Out of left field Jobby McCall anyone?
  8. Yellow away kit next season according to the rumours. As for incoming Kelty players, I'd take Jameson or Martin before I'd take Barjonas (and I'm not. desperate to sign either !) That is not a position we desperately need someone in and certainly not someone who coming just because he's looked good in the league below last season, can't we sign someone who looked good in our league?
  9. The only thing that I'm disappointed with is that Ruaridh couldn't come up with anything risqué for Robbie T's announcement. On signing side I'm happy with those guys who have agreed to stay, although like many I very much hope there's a lot more to come yet. I'm neither up nor down regarding the tone of Liams re-signing announcement, is it embarrassing? Well maybe for some. Is it slightly poor taste? Perhaps. But it's not obscene. Is it on a par with the media circus we faced a year past February? No not a bit! Is it more of a positive than a negative? Yes I'd say so. The tweet probably got way more exposure down to how Twitter is set up these days than anything but so what, it's worth a wee bit of eye rolling but more than that? I think not. Those screaming exclusiveness should remember that it's just that, every tweet, post or statement will not please everyone and for everyone feeling put out by it there will be another one who isn't and probably a dozen who are completely apathetic to the whole thing. People offended or claiming offence at this are probably the same people who dislike Carry-on films and Saucy Seaside Postcards. They probably think that kind of thing has had it's day and should be consigned to history. I don't, the nudge and a wink humour was part of our cultural heritage, fair enough it probably wouldn't work to the same extent today but I don't see that as a reason to consign stuff like this totally to history. It'd be a very dull world if everyone thought exactly the same, ok so perhaps some feel the tone was a little off key but again IMO that's no reason to throw the baby out with the bath water. I doubt very much if Ruaridh's future efforts will be as controversial but if they are no worse and manage to generate a quarter the same level of interest then I couldn't care less. It probably means I'll now be getting asked by the resident Arsenal and Boro' fans at work how the Dick extension is going, but I can happily live with that! After all I've had 15 months of them asking how "Rape Rovers" are doing, so anything that moves us along the road and away from that car crash of a chapter is more than welcome in my book.
  10. He must have played on the slope before he was three, also as Davie said there have never been metal steps steep or otherwise. Perhaps it was on a spoon burning weekend (popular Leith pastime, or so I believe) and he's been a bit confused, bless him.
  11. It's early days but hopefully he will, if he does he'll be in rare company. There's a lengthy list of former (and I dare say current) directors who found the man very obstinate and difficult to deal with.
  12. I've argued the point for years, both with board members but mostly bored members. The home strip should be sacrosanct, it should have an identity like Hibs, Queens Park, QPR, Celtic, Arsenal, Bristol Rovers and Blackburn Rovers etc. That was why I liked the half and half top. In simple terms go for something traditional for the home top. However the away kit (or 3rd kit if there's one) is a free hit, pile in with something radical or better still something that is akin to a famous strip, for example we all loved the red & blue Barca kit of the 90's. Dundee have sold well with Sampdoria and Argentina, Hamilton's Inter kit was good and Cowden did well out of Brazil connections. On the radical side Partick sold their pink camouflage strips well we did well with the McRaes battalion strip. You need something that will have at least some appeal to non Raith fans too. Unfortunately the people picking the kit have been generally clueless. We are years too late in going for the fluorescent pink number, the yellow and black Dortmond style kit was a poorest effort (yellow and Navy would have been a bit better). One former director thought the "the only people who should be wearing football kits are kids or guys actually playing football" That criteria doesn't help the club and demonstrated precisely why old men should be kept away from decisions about things like that. Get people neared the age group of those buying them to assist with the choice. It's a lucrative stream if managed the right way.
  13. The fact that the south stand roof faces due south would make it perfect for solar arrays. As long as the weight wasn't an issue, panels could be mounted in banks on a tilt at an angle of about 45' degrees. Given the large surface area available Rovers could not only be completely self sufficient but become a net producer to the grid.
  14. The photo of the cladding does give the stand a fresher look but I'm more in agreement with the poster who said the historical aspect should be kept, there aren't many Archibald Leitch stands left. If we do change it I'd prefer some thing much more radical. I recall talk a few years ago of extending the main stand backwards towards Pratt St and making it two levels. This was so that hospitality numbers could be increased upstairs and there would be more space for better facilities on the lower level. I liked the idea but felt that it was pie in the sky thinking given our financial state. Perhaps instead of metal cladding solar panels should be fitted? Starks Park's main stand is an early 20th century creation not designed to cope with the needs of a 21st century football club. At the end of the day you can only do so much, in an ideal world Rovers would build something brand new and purpose built. However that's not going to happen so the board need to eek out every inch of room available to increase revenue. Another plan was to extend the toilets in the south stand to double the width and either move the 200 club in there or create a fan bar there, this would mean halving the number of toilets available and potentially causing issues when crowds were large. I'll be interested to see the plans when they get released.
  15. Hopefully, but hat depends on what Mr Sims plan is, if he remains the single biggest shareholder (as he intimated at the AGM), my guess is he'll still stick his neb in.
  16. John Sim wants a young team too, his buzz word are "young and hungry", the problems with that are manyfold. Fist off to get youngsters you need some sort of academy, to get good youngsters you need a good academy. At the moment we have a handful of Modern apprentices but no youth team so without adequate investment we are now relying on signing other team's cast offs. Secondly, even if we manage to produce another decent crop a La Bowie, Tait, Arnott etc they will be sold off at the earliest opportunity, like as not long before the the Rovers reach the promised land where they'd be taken seriously for really big money transfers. Thirdly, as things stand Rovers actually have quite a young team, outwith Jamma and Thomson (both 30+) there a handful around the mid to late-mid 20's (LV, Dicko, Spencer, Stanton, Matthews and Millen but at least 11 of the rest are under 23. That is not an old team. What Sim of course means isn't "Young and Hungry" but "Cheap". Fourthly and this is the main reason why this idiotic bean counting idea won't work, you need a few old heads in the team, you have to have some experienced guys. Just take a look at the defence this season for example, we have been crying out for a Berra/Anderson type to steady the ship, to take control and organise defending balls into the box. Further to that just look at our bench for the last 4 or 5 games, Saturday saw Thomson (GK), McBride (22), Young (19) & Masson (18). Ok we were light on options to put on to chase the game obviously but had we got a goal there simply wasn't anything on the bench we could use to help shore things up. Most of the kids whom we have produced that have gone on to better things have come from a decent Rovers youth set up and broken into a Rovers side that wasn't struggling at the wrong end of the table. LV, RM, RC and even the Ginger Ramos all mostly came into a team that was doing well. Our latest sales (Bowie and Tait) came from the youth set up and broke into a team that was challenging (albeit in L1). Our recruitment has been awful and our management of finances even worse! And that includes dealing with players and their agents. McGlynn brought in Ross and Gullan in the belief they could be easily sold on if we did not get promotion, he didn't bargain for them having the injuries they got. Why do we get so many players with so ,many injuries? Is it the surface? Is it the training methods? Or are they all just made of chocolate?
  17. Come on bawheid just be honest, Morton couldn't play football never mind silky stuff on that showing, that you saw the game out in any manner at all was due to Rovers complete inability and ineffectiveness around goal rather than what was in front of them. Already looking forward to reading more of your pish in this league next season.
  18. The end result made it meaningless now, correctly had we won we were still in the hunt for 1 spot higher and the better prize money but for most Raith fans and it seems players the season's done. As said we've finished the season where we deserved to and we can bitch and moan about too many injuries and poor referees until the cows come home, most Rovers fans knew at the end of last season where the deficiencies in the squad lay, those weren't addressed and we made the same mistakes again. Poor recruitment on too many levels. I cant get too exited about yesterday's outcome though I think Rovers deserved something from the game, if not necessarily 3 points then maybe worthy of a draw, the only factor to gainsay that was the no away shot's on target issue. Morton after a bright start were fairly honking, I'd doubt many Ton fans would honestly say they were anything other. Less said about Mr McFarlane the better. See you all next season.
  19. Was that a typo, surely you mean Purple Money dishwasher? That would make much more sense. On another note, until JS says it never happened or it must have happened when he wasn't there I refuse not to disbelieve none of it.
  20. I'm fairly certain Sim said at the AGM he'd still have 49% and would remain the largest single shareholder, all of the others would make up 51% but that would include the Raith Trust and all the individuals (the wee people) who attended the AGM. In theory he'd only need to sway 2% of the shareholders and he'd still have control. If I was Mr McKenzie that would be my biggest worry.
  21. He's maybe just worked out that Sim's planning not only to hold on to Starks Park but but also remain as largest individual shareholder too. Either that or Silverbear's re-interest has meant a King Dick spanner being thrown into the works.
