  1. I must admit I thought the home game against Utd would have been nailed on for the beeb, very glad it isn't... at least this time.

Televised home games against ant two of; Airdrie, Ayr, ICT, Queens or Morton would do fine from a financial aspect. Pars or Utd would be most damaging with Partick also bringing a good travelling support, Arbroath would also likely bring more than the initial 5 teams mentioned.

Noticed a few comments about Dom Thomas from Raith fans. Why the dislike?

1, He played for the Pars.

2, I think He recited a move to us at one point.

3, He is an utter bell end.

On to the game it's self.

The red card thing has been done to death with most of us agreeing it was a soft award, thing is though Tizzard is first and foremost an absolute clown for giving the ref a decision to make, if as some are saying Fox would have caught him (and for the record I doubt it) then Tizzard is even more stupid than we are giving him credit for.

The 1st 10 mins after the red card Queens were all at sea and we really should have cleaned up, but we didn't and Queens got organised, so much so it was difficult to say who had 10 and who had 11 men on the park, and ladies and gentlemen that what boiled my piss. Queens went compact and did a great job and we let them. Did we stretch them and take advantage of of the extra man? Did we hookey!

Rovers never seem to do too brilliantly against 10 men.

  3. The non red changed the game but thankfully not the outcome, Rovers did less against 10 men than they did against 11.

Had it stayed 11 v 11 I reckon it would have finished 2-0 or perhaps 3-0 as Rovers didn't really start to play until we went behind.

    To sum up:

    Not a red.

The young QP keeper is excellent but the rest of the team aren't much to write home about.

Two absolute gifts for the QP goals.

Three just about deserved points for the Rovers.

  4. Murray to Hibs?

Aye it's possible I suppose, but I feel less likely now than under previous Easter Rd regimes.

I think they'll look for a bigger name and those mentioned above seem more likely to me.

Murray has already shown he isn't shy about wanting a move and if he does go could we perhaps raid Airdrie again?  Rhys McCabe seems to be doing quite a decent job for a new manager.

It'd be tough on Mickey, cant see him going to Leith with Murray.

Can only presume that due to the change in font, that you've lifted that from somewhere else.

Which is worrying, because it means at least two people (the creator and yourself) have found that either funny, or witty, or both. It's the sort of wash you'd see on cringy Facebook groups.

Not If I posted it elsewhere (fantalk), none of which makes the points less valid.

  6.  Still can't stop thinking about that embarrassing tifo thingy, was it a school project of some sort?

A train featuring the words  "Inter City" despite being  of the sort of high speed train that would never have stopped (or passed through) any of their stations on the Fife circle.

But they are an odd bunch indeed.
Dunfermline Athletic is plausible enough name, and they are a team from "The auld grey toun" yet they have long claimed city status. They have a nickname (The Pars) which nobody seems to know the true origin or reason for, and to compound their confusion on the front of their main stand there's a sign saying Pars United.

So, Athletic, Town, City or United who are they?
I can only think they are suffering from some sort of identity crisis.

One thing we can say with absolute certainty, they are Fife's second club!

The image below is lifted from the above site, I can only guess its some local who's feeling (and looking) thoroughly sick at full time / being a Pars fan.

  7. So far so good but I’ll refrain from bold statements until after the 1st quarter.
what I’m happy to say is that we look so much stronger in the front two thirds, and with a defensive acquisition or two we could be on to something. With that in mind unless Jakubiak has some serious defensive talents  the we need to look elsewhere.

Kudos to big Kev. Apart from one ropey punch early on this was perhaps the first really strong performance from the keeper. Defence was resolute throughout.

  8. Looking forward to probably my only trip to EEP this term (unless we get them in the Scottish or the play offs).

I'm feeling reasonably confident about this which is in itself concerning. After all I was confident about the LC game too and that didn't pan out. Still this time we might still be short of fullback but we do have two experienced centre half and  a strong defensive midfield.

Rovers team has changed a lot since last season and has even changed some since that LC match. I reckon it'll be close but I still think we'll be too strong for them.

Aye? Then why was it you didn't force Sim out for the Goodwillie situation? Why is it that you haven't been protesting the lavish spending at Starks Park this summer? Or has the increased wages and stadium re-developments no count? Without going full FifeFree Press, how many losses have you posted, and how much in recent years?

Why didn't you force change then?

Realistically, it is very difficult to change ownership of a club, and even harder doing it while good things are actually happening. Administration and the Goodwillie saga are bad, fans don't like bad things and tend to band together, but if Dean Mackenzie continues his re-development of Starks are you going to protest it?

Difficult you say eh? No shit fella.

Just out of curiosity how do you recommend forcing out a guy that owns the both club and stadium?

    Asking for any future requirement.

PS Sim still holds the club share majority and also still owns SP, and according to the CEO our wage bill is actually down on last season.

  10. Forgotten who we played but I remember one particular game at Starks defending the home end, an opponent stood facing McGurn blocking him, the corner was swung in right on top of him and we shipped 2 identical goals in succession.

TBH I cant think of a keeper we've had that was noted for commanding his area by coming for crossed balls.

I do think this is a key point. Last season we had a keeper who had more experience than our centre halves combined, this season we have the polar opposite. Hopefully as the relationship develops Dabrowski can become more confident and assertive with his defenders. Our defence certainly has the attributes to be a decent unit but we are leaking goals just now.

It is strange that he is drawing this uncertainty from some of the crowd based on one or two dodgy kick outs and a goal conceded v Morton which was clearly much more down to very poor defending than a goalkeeping error.

A couple of saves and a clean sheet on Saturday may help however his last appearance at EEP wont do much for his confidence :)

From what I've seen so far the leaking of goals bit can be mostly attributed to poor defending, a failure to stop a cross or defend a set piece has been our undoing more than once.

Of Dabrowski's weaker points I agree that I'm more inclined to feel concern when he has the ball at his feet than when seeing a ball flying into his box, but they are both area's he needs to improve on and hopefully he will.

On the subject of him losing confidence due to the support's uncertainty in him that's going to happen from time to time. All players need to be thick skinned and learn to get over that, as for on-line abuse I hope that all the players at SP have the good sense not to read what's written here or on P&B.

  12. Looking forward to this immensely, hopefully a great atmosphere, both teams at it and some blood and snotters during the 90.

Former players on both sides, Bene, McCann and Wighton for Pars and Millen, Murray, Byrne, Smith and Ross for Rovers should add spice.

My main concern is that Rovers are a wee bit suspect at the back but hopefully B&B in midfield will snuff out any Townie threat before it gathers pace.

Vaughnny always loves a goal or 3 in these games.

Perhaps yellow cards a plenty and wee a red for Bene,  1-3 to the mighty.   Wighton for the Townies,  Hamilton and Vaughan (2) for the good guys.

Who's KB? Do you mean KD? Calling him a weak link at this stage is a bit strong, considering some of the saves he made at Easter Road and not being entirely to blame for either goal.

Disagree too that Tumilty>Millen overall. Tumilty was superb bombing fwd but less clever back in position. Millen is as good as you'll get in this league.

Macca (K McDonald?) didn't have Centre Half in his skillset like Dick does so to say he's "miles better" is again, I think, extreme. Specialist v good generalist.

Watson is slow, I'll give you that, but you know what they say about the 1st 5 yards being in your head. He will get rinsed now and again, but his experience and ability helps him be in the right place at the right time more often than not.

Murray too, is probably as good as you'll get in this league at CH (supporters of other teams seem to agree), so saying we have to live with it (the defence) and hope the others do the biz is incredibly negative.

At least you like the injury prone forwards.

Bit of context needed to clarify my comments.

The quality within the Raith 18 (not as I misstated 25) yrd box is imo the most fragile area of the team, ergo if the team is a chain then it's weakest links are in that area and that includes KD (typo last time) who like the rest of the back 4 are (again only imo) the weaker links.

Macca played CB for both Airdrie and Rovers as a LHS CB when the team went to 3 at the back, I rate his defensive ability to be more than Dick, just my opinion though.

Tumilty was better than Millen going forward but as you say was pretty crap at defending, Millen is also good going forward but I wouldn't say he's all that great at defending, mind you he's a defensive god compared to McGill.

Murray and Watson are ok and a massive improvement on last season (but then what wouldn't be?), good centre halves are hard to come by these days and as such I'd agree they are probably as good as we could hope for at present. However that still doesn't detract from the fact that those who's job it is to prevent goals seem to be the less strong in an otherwise fairly strong looking side. If we fall short this season then that will be the area that the manager will focus on.

Injuries to our less robust forwards would I agree do some damage but injuries to defenders will be no less worrying, possibly more so.

  14. Been to Kelty, Killie, Annan and Partick so far this term.

Our 25 yard box is still our weakest area on the field, having said that I still think it's stronger than last season even with the change of goalkeeper. FWIW I think KB will get better and will go on to get better and better, but at the moment he is a weak link. Likewise with fullbacks, Tumilty was better than Millen and Macca was miles better than Dick, Watson is slow as and Murray is Murray. They're what we have for now and we have to live with it and hope the rest of the team does the biz.

Midfield appears stronger with the inclusion of Byrne (though not seen him yet in the flesh) and Mullin is capable of some cracking deliveries, a fully fit Brown, Ross, Matthews and Connolly will see us with some pool to pick from.

Up top we are stronger with Hamilton and if the forwards can stay healthy we will be a force to reckon with.
