  1. No! no, no, David for the millionth time our mans Trnbull Huton not Les Dawson.
  2. Or possibly junior football is about to get a massive influx of support Al. As stated earlier and elsewhere if the Raith board vote for the Newco to enter Div 1 then I very well may be looking for refunds for the season tickets I bought in May. It's bad enough watching a pish team (but they are my pish team) who are pish because they are financially bereft without them becoming morally bankrupt too.
  3. But doesn't anyone undertand the magnitude of whats happening here? There's a club literally dying here, it's bleeding it's last as we type! Don't any of you care????? Nope, me neither I'm away for my tea. Ta ta.
  4. While I agree that it's a bigger issue than the club it's also as you say a bigger issue than that Newco as well, Scottish football should be a bigger issue than just the Old Firm but it's not. Sadly for a much longer time than I've been watching the Rovers that's been exactly the case and in consequence the OF has moulded the game into the sack of shit we have today. Giving up on watching the Rovers on this point of principal is akin to me of throwing the baby out with the bath water though. Whilst I entirely agree with facts (as clearly we both see it) that Rangers Newco should not be entitled to automatic entry to the 3rd Div we all know that they will be more of a revenue draw in football than say Cove Rangers or Spartans. With this in mind the outcome is damn near 1,000,000 to 1 on that they'll get back in. Likewise it will of course for a whole catalogue of reasons be wrong if they were to be allowed into the 1st but in this case (as much as I detest them and Celtic) it may yet be worth it if the boundaries were shifted and the power was shifted away from them. Couple that to a restructuring which increased league size and had more promotion places and it might, just might be worth it. There are too many self serving twats running Scottish football and not enough being done to improve the standards and quality of the over all game. I don't want Rangers coming straight into the 1st Div. In fact I don't want Rangers or Celtic in the Scottish game at all but if they are to be there there has to be changes and now the best time to get them IMO. Whatever happens and what ever league a Newco comes or doesn't come into I'll not be stopping following my team. They've fucked up the game IMO in Scotland and my team is struggling partly because of the mess they've got the game in but stopping going to watch the Rovers would only kill them off the quicker. As has and is being proved no matter what happens those two will always survive in some twisted and debautched form or another. As I said I admire the principal behind your stance though.
  5. Not sure how to take that one? Seems like you are taking your wrath out on your own club. If you mean that the NewCo comes in and we (our BoD) have voted in favour of it then I understand your stance. If on the other hand you are stating that you'll damn all Scottish football on the principal then I'm not sure I'm with you at all, unless of course you intend to boycott all games in the knowlege that your club already has your money but will not see your attendance on point of principal. Is it any of the above? I hate Rangers and Celtic and wish they would both leave Scotland completely but failing that the 3rd div for both would be great. It'd be a travesty if they were allowed straight into the 1st Div but even that is preferable to their going straight into the SPL.
  6. Perhaps the time is right for Billy Broon to come on doon! Billy Brown might be a really good shout at this stage and as a former co-coach of J McG and associate of Pat Fenlan he may get us some good loanees. Just a thought. I'd still like to see Mickey at SP too though so perhaps one or the other with Bert as assistant but of course that would all be dependant on if Smudger went with McGlynn (which I don't think he will). Another question has to be regarding the fallout from McGlynns going (if he does indeed go) would we need to employ other to run the youth set up and would we lose the like of Gunter and the rest of the boot room boys? Bad time to be losing a manager, no wonder the signings we looked to have made recently weren't willing to put pen to paper. Too much uncertainty at SP just now me thinks.
  7. A classic shot of the legendary Jonny Watson in action? Looks too mobile to be him IMO.
  8. Pure hearsay I know but it was also quoted on here that Raith were speaking to him yesterday. F**k him anyway townie b*****d!
  9. So were were after McDougal but lost out to Dumbarton? Even if it was only all down to travelling, that's not good imo.
  10. Well mibbies and aye mibbies naw If the Pars are sent back upstairs we will surely end up at either; Ibrox. Somerset Park New Broomfield Gayfield Delete as appropriate. And then again if it's Dundee who are going up Coewden are away to one of the above.
  11. As far as I know Sir Paul hasn't been back to Kirkcaldy since 1963. His last known visit was July 1st and unless we were playing a friendly that day I doubt he'll have been to Starks Park. Further more sir the gentleman in question is 70 old and his only experience of football stadiums is playing musical instruments within them. As such I do not understand your logic in linking him with a possible Managerial position at Starks. I can only assume you are perhaps referrring to ex- Scotland captain and Covenrty manager Gary McAlister who is also occasionally referred to as "Macca" for I can think of no other "Macca's" of any fame whatsoever.
  12. Might be wrong (has been known or is that known has-been) but I think the first dark blue number was a Mercat sponsored navy blue with white pinstripes and white sleeves (also white shorts & socks). I didn't like it despite the fact that I did prefer the dark blue to the royal. I think we won the 2nd div in that strip.
  13. I would remind you that the said Johnny Stewart scored a perfectly good (should have been match winning) goal at Dens last season which was only ruled out because a certain Mr Baird was offside. In fact Bairdy is offside quite a lot in games which is something you will be only too aware of in a month or two. Stewart may or may not be pants but just wait until you see Davo trying to find a team mate less that 10 yrds away. I'm sorry to see ID go as he had arguably his best season with us last term but there are other player to be had and as been said it could work out better for us. In Davidson Dundee are getting a player who can hit great 30 to 50 yard balls but can often fail to find a team-mate from 10 feet. He is a committed and hardy player who is great at breaking down play but can be petulant and all to often easily wound up and gets a card, his downright stupidity at Forfar where he collected 2 in 3 mins will live long in the memory of many at Station Park that day. His best attributes are his tackling and his flexibility to play either defence or midfield. I'm sorry he's gone but there will be a replacement.
  14. Rumple. He's coming on a free with Sammy The Tammy going the other way.
  15. I have 2 bottles of 18 yr old sherry cask GlenDronach that my wife gave me 20 years ago as an engagement present. Might open one when my Eldest hits 18......... and might no.
  16. Was at a great whisky tasting night a week ago and had a 21 yr Cask strength GlenDronach from a 1st fill sherry cask, have to say was one of the best I've had recently. All time best has to be either the 1959 Glen Grant or better yet the 21 yr old Springbank neither of which is a cheap nip. Islay's I like Bowmore pref the 12 or 15yr olds. The 15 year old laphroag was hugely superior to the 10 but there used to be a 17yr bottling of Ardbeg and man what a beast ir was. Glenturret (12) is my fav Highland and Higland Park 18 yr is my fav island although it's wee brother is good too. Speyside, Like Aberlour 10 and Balvenie DW but preferring 10 year Old McCallan fine oak these days is my choice. Blends, Baily Nicol Jarvie is tops. There are no bad whiskies in reality only some are better than others.
  17. Rubbish! They are nothing like us their teams are successful in Europe. Oh hang on that's not what they meant?
  18. You must already be fabulously independently wealthy my man. This week's Euromillions Jackpot is only £36M, once you've paid £20M for them you will need to find a hellovalot more to pay off the creditors never mind anything else. I take it you'd be open to offers for Castle Doom, Misery Park & car Park
  19. A wee change of tack here, I was just wondering if ( bear in mind I've been away at work for over a week) anyone had heard on the QT if there was any news about our other loan signing? I know that we are at the mercy of the loanee's own club as to when they let him come but what with only having a wee squad I thought now that Davo has officially been placed on the sick list there'd maybe be an annoucent this week. Then again perhaps depending on what position the loanee plays (eapecially if a Striker or winger?) McGlynns waiting to see whether or or not he needs to re-prioritise and bring in a defender or midfielder.
  20. Hmm, my take on Mr Sim was that he has not donated £75k to the Auld Kirk group but has instead loaned them the money. As for our club, as far as I know the gentleman has not invested much if anything in RRFC. He stands as guarantor for the mortgage on the ground but I'm not sure whether or not he has actually lodged the funds to cover the guarantee with the Allied Irish Bank or whether he'd only have to do so if RRFC defaulted on the repayments. As it stands as the head of Raith Rovers Properties he will be entitled to to property title deeds once the mortgage is cleared (which isn't looking likely... ever!). The football club are servicing the interest but are unable to repay the capital at this time. What Mr Sim's plans are for the ground it would seem he alone knows but there seems to be no or at least very little dialogue with the Raith board. As an extremely wealthy man Mr Sim obviously has funds at his disposal to invest as he pleases but it would appear he does not give anything away as so far the only things we know of are a loan and a guarantee.
  21. Things are going so well for us just now it's scarey. My biggest worry is that Yogi gets the heave at Hibs, J McG is surely the most likely candidate for any bigger job that comes up anytime soon. I know he's a former Jambo but I think he'd be too professional not to be interested if that job was to be a prospectively offered. I know I know, Ishould just enjoy the moment but......
  22. The team under JN by spring was stagnant and on the way down the table, we were at best 9th(?) when JN left for Millwall. JT Signed 3 players during the run in and we improved our placing to joint 5th. Sinclair, Cameron , Crawford & Dair were always going to move on not losing them wasn't ever an option in my view. Oh and by the way Cameron was even dropped for the run in as the boss felt his heart wasn't in the Raith cause. If Alex Fergusson had taken over as boss under Penman do you think he'd have done any better than Thomson under Eck Penman at that time? In your opinion what was wrong with the footballing skills of ; Paul Harvey (did well at Motherwell after us) Mirodrag Kriprovovic Paul Brown Scott Thomson Paul Bonner (did well in his 1st 3 months then was poooooooor! admittedly) IMO I don't think that any of those guys took "the football" out of the Raith side. Crawford, Dair & Sinclair did their best stuff during their time at SP only Cameron was a class act when he moved on. AP screwed us and his appointment of I Munro (after being shafted by the Hamster) then was the biggest nail in our coffin until the Glesga mob & Cluade Le Fraud showed up to all but kill the club. Blaming Jim Thomson for the Munro (principally Alex Penmans) failings are IMO well off the mark.
  23. I disagree. Raith achieved our highest finish I've ever seen (5th / 6th ijn the top league) under Thomson. (we were 8th when Nichol went to Millwall in the spring) Holding on to Mickey was never going to happen and if you think was JT that did the deal and set the price and not Mr Penman then you must be better informed than the guys on the board at the time. Thomson probably thought that John Millar, Kriprovic, Scott Thomson and Paul Harvey were good ball players (they were good at their previous clubs!). Jimmy The jannie was sacked principally because Tommy McLean became available and because he lost the opening games of the season. Away to Rangers then away to Celtic with 1st Div Airdrionians putting us out of the League cup. In my view only the latter was his real failing.
  24. After being the best of the 1st Div in the two seasons we were promoted I have to say that the year under Munro ending in relegation from the prem where we were getting horsed week in week oot was probably THE most depressing time I can recall in 35 years of watching the team. Ok so perhaps the glory of Coca-Cola and Munich previously made it feel somehow worse than it actually was, but for me it was an even more miserable period than the Glesga gansters and Anelka time. It was that period that was the catalyst for our fall from grace to the rock bottom of Anelka. I'd happily be a challenging 1st div team rather than a mediocre SPL side. The season we were relegated under Munro we went to Brechin in the cup and I think I realised then that getting a beer in the pub without fighting your way though the unwashed masses and then sauntering up the road at 2-50 and into the ground for K.O at 3pm is far more relaxed and pleasurable than going to Ibrox, Parkhead or even Motherwell at SP.
  25. I can exclusively reveal that when my sons babysitters boyfriends aunties nextdoor neebors brothers wee cousins mate was passing Starks Park at 9 o'clock last night he's almost certain that he saw a guy coming out of the main door that looked uncannily like Damien Cassalinouvo and he was carrying a trendy manbag with a designer logo on it. Domino's Perhaps Boaby Mullin was peckish. edited to add more smilies
