  1. With all due respect, he couldn't hold a regular place down at Ross County then failed to play a handful of games for a team sitting near the foot of the English 4th tier. Loved him during his time with us, though the time was probably right when he left.
  2. Are you taking the piss out of Demented Zebra. If not, this is absolutely false info.
  3. I think he felt his stock was high at the time too and that he was bigger than the job. Couldn't even win promotion with the biggest budget in the championship last season, so probably dodged a bullet there.
  4. I think he is on a good deal. Some believe he is a top earner, though I am not sure if I believe that or not. His contract was most likely more complicated as we were looking into him being a sellable asset. All assumptions. A player off the wage bill (Stewart) plus transfer fee. Same could be said about fee we received for Cammy Smith. Off the wage bill and transfer fee. Overall I suppose when you look at the bigger picture, we did have to offload guys like King, Kpekawa etc early from their contracts, which would have cost us.
  5. From what I believe, we never paid the full £75k and it was all instalments based upon milestones. Wouldn't be surprised if we only paid a third of this so far. To soften the blow, we did recoup some of that money back from the sale of Ross Stewart to Ross County.
  6. It's looking much better recruitment wise, to what we had at the start of the season. Dead wood gone and first impressions are good on all, though maybe 2 or 3 short still.
  7. We are only starting to put OK's team together. January is a tough window to operate in. I believe Mateo Muzek was one of the players we had been monitoring for some time and it has taken till last Friday to finally get him in. A position we have been desperate to fill for months now. All the new signings look very useful and carry their own qualities. Dreyer only met his team mates for the first time on Sunday and went in and put in a 90mins shift. Once the other players familiarise with what he can do, we should start to see positive results there. Probably Jacksons best game for us. That for me was down to our new tactics of using our wide men rather than a hoof the ball to Jackson who is better with the ball at his feet running. His goal showed what we should have been getting from him if he got the right sort of service. 9 shots on goal, quite a few really good ones at that is a far better improvement on what we had been witnessing in previous outings. It is looking most likely that we will have 2 more players at least arriving before the window closes. I know for sure one is a striker and should be done within the next couple of days.
  8. I remember very well when Jack Ross came in and inherited a mess from Alex Rae round a similar time as Oran. Absolutely honking run of results probably up until the middle of Feb, when there was a turning point with the new signings in place.
  9. Anyone who inherited Stubbs' mess was always going to get it tight from the media and a portion of the fans. We said that if we made it into Christmas still within touching distance of the teams above us, we have every chance of putting up a fight. Yesterday was the only time i have heard fans criticise his tactics. He probably did deserve that, though he now has HIS new team forming together, with other missing pieces still to arrive this week. We were okayish defensively till the 3 games so far in January. I'd start Ferdinand every game from here on if he is fit. Dreyer only arrived on Saturday and was pitched in straight away to play 90mins. As much as they look decent, Popescu and Hladky need time to bed in, as well as Lyons. My only concern, if we aren't already trying to rectify the situation, is how light we are in numbers for centre mid . McGinn, looks like he may miss the weekend through injury, Tansey still looks rusty and it would be unfair to pitch Erhahon in there with all that pressure. Flynn isn't a central player either and we are still playing the waiting game on Magennis returning which will be a while yet.
  10. Another incoming though most likely not cleared in time for tomorrow
  11. Rogers still with us too, though agree it just shows how big a shambles his recruitment was.
  12. If Kpekawa leaves today, that will in my opinion be all of Stubbs' surplus to requirements signings gone. A few months back I didn't think we would be in a position to clear so many of these players out.
  13. No idea. It was said from a couple of sources on here and b&w that they impressed and both bragged a brace in that game.
  14. I was fairly sure it said before Saturday. Edit: Sorry, i stand corrected. 2-3 in before window closes with striker a main priority.
  15. Alan Wardrop said in the 1877 club members email that he expects a further 2-3 before Saturday.
  16. anyone know where this signings come from? does OK have any links to the boy? seems a strange one otherwise I mentioned earlier on this thread, the club has a new system in place for finding players, researching them etc. Wouldn't be surprised if we have been looking at him for a few months now. As far as im aware we no longer deal with agents approaching us with players. We have been doing our own groundwork and monitoring their background and progress.
  17. OK mentioned in more depth without giving too much away that there is a new method in place. Not so much dependent on scouts working for the club from what i gathered.
  18. The new system that is in place for targeting players is more thorough and I am sure homework has been done on all targets over and over before any approach has been made. Post Stubbs, lessons have been learned. Not to say there will be an odd failure from time to time, though if any good of Stubbs' reign, it was a wake up call to the board to put strategies in place for recruitment of players.
  19. Thanks for the heads up sir. From that , my guess is Smith out and the Romanian centre-half and Czech goalie
  20. I'd read somewhere that we are holding off till we find a replacement before letting him leave. Find that hard to believe if you were in talks with him last weekend.
  21. I'm remaining confident all will be fine. The chairman has came out publicly and said he would back the manager. I still reckon there could be at least another 5-6 players out, that's including Kpekawa and King. That would allow OK to work with a squad of his new signings plus the existing players to a more manageable 21/22 players, which was the plan all along.
