I think you're probably right. He's probably smarter than to just be reacting. I think a lot of fans are getting taken in by this to be honest. I don't know him well enough - but that's what I suspect.

He didn't have steam coming out of his ears and spoke calmly unlike say Craig Levein at times when it was obvious the emotions had taken control.

From what I remember Derek Adams always came across as a wet wipe in interviews. I think he has either built a character for the cameras, or he simply can't cope in a heat of the moment post defeats.

In saying that, I remember Stephen Robinsons approach right at the start when he took over St. Mirren when he couldn't buy a win.  Turned from being very negative post match (at one point saying we were in a relegation dogfight sitting 7th in the league), to then always looking for the positives from a game.

If Ross County win this they would be two points behind us having played a game less. This is a team whose early season form was so bad that they sacked their manager.

Certainly puts our great start into context and shows how quickly things can change in this turgid, attritional league.

However, I don’t think we will lose. For all our overall form has been awful recently, we’re still pretty good at home. The only team to beat us in Paisley this season in all competitions is Rangers, and that was only after we went down to ten men in the first half.

A goal would be a nice starting point, none of our players have scored in any of our last five games.  Start Nahmani please.

Like all of our games over the last month, I’m expecting another tough watch.

    0-0

What's happened to Grieve? He seems to have dropped down the pecking order, even with a couple of goals to his name off the bench.

I believe the large number of players away on international duty has been detrimental to our season. Other teams have had a chance to rest and regroup. Some of our squad have travelled significant distances and it will have had an adverse effect.
This next month until the winter shutdown is crucial.
Let’s get behind the squad and manager.

It does seem coincidental that our bad run has been within this period of time of internationals.

I think from the next 2 home games, we need to look at taking 3-4 points minimum and then hope me muster some points together over the following 3 games before the Celtic game on 2nd.

    Nahmani needs more game time

Wouldn't be surprised to see him punted in January. Jamieson ahead of him in the pecking order and we now have Ayunga on the comeback. That's Ayunga, Mandron, Grieve, Olusanya, Jamieson and if you want to class him in the same positions, McMenamin. He's not even getting anywhere near a sniff of action.

Exactly.  Also the "we have been found out" stuff is laughable. Football has been played for 150+years yet folk keep trotting this line out as if Robbo had "invented" some new formation that every coach in the league needed months to "work out" when in reality we had a bad day at the office and lost a game. We simply don't have the finances to sign the level of player to make inconsistency a thing of the past. Robbo has worked wonders to get us where we are but there are always going to be bumps in the road. It's during these bumps that we need to get behind the team not call for Robbo to rip it up and start again.

Top 6 last season and off to a better start than last season. We are never going to go through a full season undefeated. Yes it was a high score defeat, though sometimes best to get this out the road, get the players lifting their game again and get ready for after the international break to get us going again.

What happened to the Ryan Strain who would bomb up the wing and get crosses in ?  These days he reaches halfway and turns back to pass to Fraser .  🤷‍♂️

Is he possibly seen as a thorn in the side to the opposition where a lot of good play comes through him getting high up the park. He was certainly cancelled out from doing this vs Hibs from what I seen.

Celtic were in a game every time they played us last season. If we can keep 11 men on the park then we I'm sure we can make it difficult for them.

I'd maybe go with Olusanya to start. Whilst there's a chance he'll struggle to get into the game, he's a bit more unpredictable than Mandron.

Why not play them both from the start, even better. They linked up for the third goal on Saturday.

Wee bit early for January window talks, but if we can stay 3rd we will be very attractive to potential recruits.

Given we'll likely lose about 7 in the summer, we will no doubt be looking at their successors and/or working hard to extend contracts. (Potential prospect of playing in Europe next season too)

There are not many in the squad that need to be let go either, but we cannot stand still.

    Points this week C O Y S

Lets do all we can just now to extend the likes of Gogic beyond this season, Taylor an extra year or two and guys like Olunsanya. I honestly don't think we need to recruit much more unless we lose anyone to a transfer.

We are building something good here and the players we have a realistic chance of keeping, it would be good to get them tied down and invest in the current crop of players who are key to our success.

They honestly don’t bother me. I reckon we will end up keeping the wooden ones as these are still bringing in revenue for smaller businesses.

The wooden boards generate over 50k per season including VAT. Can't see us dropping them. Having your advert appearing on a rolling digital board isn't for every business. Some things are just as effective static.

I wish SkyView would withdraw again, then their bright white adverts would disappear from an otherwise excellent new addition to FeegieField. I contacted the club to complain, but they said Glasgow Airport beat me to it. An incoming EasyJet Airbus A320 nearly landed on Murray Street because of them. 😎

In reality of course, I haven’t complained to the club about the boards. They’re fine. When the background isn’t bright white. My money is, as I said, on it being the perfect storm of the bright white adverts, coupled with half-strength floodlights, and only semi-darkness overhead, rendering the white adverts to look exceedingly bright. Probably a set of circumstances only seen at one or two home games all season anyway.

The digital advertising boards are £2500+VAT for 60  seconds advertising per game for the season. Just think how many  you could get on there for the duration of the game.

The static woodnen boards in front of this are £2600+VAT for the season, so plenty of money to be made.

Drey Wright out so the RWB choice could be huge, seeing as theyll be up against Tanser.

Dont know how we set up for this really. 4-3-3 seemed to kill us when we played the shite 3-4-3 that St Mirren have copied, so presumably at some point itll get found out for them too.

    Mitov

    Olufunwa - Gordon - Considine - Robinson

    Jaiyesimi - Phillips - Sprangler - Max - May

    Kane

With the wide players getting high and narrow?

We are also missing the heavy in-form Ryan Strain through suspension, though a shift at the back should allow us to put Fraser in there and im guessing Bolton coming in at centre half.

  12. 13 hours ago, Bobby_F said:

Agree with all of that, but think we should probably have waited another 10 minutes.

And probably McMenamin should have been one of the ones taken off in the first swaps.

He had a great game, but could see he was running on empty.

Pretty sure that the team won't have a knock in confidence as a result of this.  Before the sending off we matched them - comfortably.  And if it had stayed 11 v 11 (15) I think we'd have come back for at least a draw.

Last comment - Gogic.  What a fantastic performance he put in.  Again. It's every fecking week.

    Love that guy!

McMenamin was also carrying a yellow card and was walking a tightrope for a second, so it affected his game a bit. Agree he should have been taken off earlier.

The human factor will, of course, mean that there are still some errors. But I think part of the issue is that there aren't enough cameras.

    I just posted similar in the Kilmarnock match thread but off the top of my head;

    Greive 'goal' against Dundee

    Mandron 'goal' against Hearts

    Lyons handball on Saturday

    Strain handball on Saturday

    Miovski double touch penalty

All of these decisions stuck with the on field call not because the decision was definitely correct but because the pictures couldn't conclusively show the decision was wrong. And this is before we get to the ludicrous offside calls like Greive's against Hearts.

We're paying a lot of money for a system that makes watching the game worse for spectators and at best marginally increases the number of correct decisions.

Walsh's call at Ibrox vs Livy a few days after the Mandron one v Hearts is even more of a mind boggler. The forward CLEARLY fouls the defender, tumbling him over. Play on, goal. Never seen full highlights, though apparently checked on VAR and stood as a goal. Martindale has already came out and said the struggles of finances at his club and they are paying 6 figures for the VAR system, then something like this happens. He should have pulled his players off the park.

  14. As daft it may sound, it's recognising your flaws during a good run that can make you stronger.

I think we tried to do things a little differently last night that never quite worked out and some players had an off day.

If this exit from the cup has learned us a lesson and allows us to regroup and continue the great league form, then great.

Anything from Rugby Park on Saturday, would set us up well for the home game the following week.

I think this will be a terrific game. We come out the traps flying - and there's not been much teams can do about it. Wasteful finishing has been most to blame for us not taking bigger leads in several games.

But it's hard work playing like that and we tire. BTTS absolute banker.

Yeah, Aberdeen a few weeks back springs to mind. Should have been out of sight in the first half before they surprisingly took the lead through a freak goal.

  16. These games are always hard to predict, especially with us at home. They are always well contested between the both os us.

We have kept our home as a bit of a  fortress since last season, so Hearts certainly won't be in for an easy ride. Our levels have been unbelievable and I believe if we can reach the same levels as we have so far, we should get the result we are looking for.

Our depth upfront is something we haven't had for a long time. The boy Nahmani can't get in the starting lineup and also from the bench and he was tipped as being a coup.

Unfortunately not making it on Saturday due to other commitments, though will be keeping an eye on the score.

Initially I thought the same, but surely the likelihood of them accepting an extended deal from St Mirren would depend on how any offer to the players was structured.

Perhaps the deal on offer could contain a transfer offer price that would trigger a release clause, with the player being guaranteed a chunky % of that fee. Such a deal could be a win-win for the player and the club.

A few positives if any in our favour is that we are playing well, there is a great bond in the dressing room and those players are still being recognised at international level playing with us.

If we could offer a 2 year extension to both with improved wage, a minimum release fee and sell on that is fair, then if there is any small chance of them staying, that would be it. It could still mean they move in the summer, though we get a return rather than nothing.

If Robinson was one of those candidates  there would have been something from the club along lines of 'blah blah blah, met clause, blah blah blah, reluctantly granted permission to speak to Hibs'

Until that comes out, there's no panic.

And... i really cant see an employed guy flying half way round the world to not be given the gig.

Anyone hearing anything at all about any further incomings before the window SLAMS SHUT?

I still feel we are light at the back for the following reasons:

    1. We only have one proper RWB. Aware that Bolton is mooted to be able to fill in there and we have used Flynn there (but does anyone want a repeat of the Ginnelly incident that chucked away points v Hearts?). But this isn't proper cover in my honest opinion, as this isn't their primary position.

    2. While we now have adequate cover for the left side of central defence, I wouldn't say the same about the central position of the three, or the right hand side of the three because i) I still don't really want Gogic consigned to be a CB all season, it isn't his main role, ii) the only adequate cover for him and Fraser, in any case, seems to be Bolton. But what if either one of those two is hurt or suspended and Strain is at the same time? Bolton can't do both at once. People may say "well, Taylor or Dunne could do it" but that's square pegs in round holes stuff.

We don't need many injuries or suspensions in the wrong places to go from looking decent to the possibility that the defence becomes a bit of a disaster area imho. A bit of foresight will tell any fan we aren't going to get through the season unscathed as far as injuries and suspensions go.

I recognise that it's unlikely we solve all this but I would like to see at least one more CB come in tbh. As a fan, I don't always have to think of this in business terms, and I perceive that having proper players for cover for these positions rather than patchwork stuff where you are putting guys there that can't really do it is what might be the difference between an ok season and a brilliant one.

And I hope Robinson is currently putting a similar case to the board.

It's trying to keep players happy too. In my opinion we have decent enough cover at the back.

LB: Tanser, Small, Taylor, Fraser. The boy Ethan Sutherland if called upon.
CB: Taylor, Dunne, Fraser, Bolton, Gogic
    RB: Strain, Fraser, Bolton, Flynn

I genuinely think we will be fine with that. Bolton and Dunne at the moment, can't make the starting 11 due to the good form of Fraser Taylor and Gogic when dropped in there.
