I think if he'd had more game time he might've kicked on a bit. He was really good in flashes for us, and he was excellent for Inverness.

He couldn't get in our team as he was never a wing back. This has been said before, but now we often play with a front three I'm certain he'd have seen more game time had he stayed with us, than he has at County.

I imagine the deal breaker to go to Ross County though was for more game time, considering why he knocked us back was due to lack of time on the park. He may well or not be getting more money, though he wouldn't have move dup there to be on the same sort of role as backup as he was with us. All imo of course.

  2. There are diefintely goals in tonights game and its just a matter of who turns up best on the night. Our goalie has been absolutely solid at the back, with our issues being before Saturday, taking our chances. I'd imagine more chances will fall to us than that of the game vs Rangers for example.

The weekends game shows what we are capable of, as we do create great opportunities in games. Mandron could have had another couple in reality.

I wouldn't change the lineup tonight, though respect that tactically the manager may, to suit the best starting 11 to cope with Dundee's impressive attacking play.

He's not likely to turnaround and say 'the reason was Dundee were offering me more dosh'.

For what it's worth, I think he makes a good point and I've no doubt that was a big factor, but I'm pretty sure the deciding factor would be money.

Commuting from Elderslie, when he was 10 mins from Ralston, he must be making a slight bit more where he is now to justify the travel.

We've let big earners go previously? Carson, Brophy, Gallagher, Main, Big Joe etc.

Truth is though most of them were aging and/or less likely to produce the goods week in week out.

Goga is different. Only 29. He is strong and fit. Gives 100 % every week, and can contribute at both ends of the park.

With the extra Euro money we can afford to make him a decent offer and he clearly loves it here.

He is a fans favourite for all the right reasons.

I think he'll sign on again, it's good for all parties.

    All for different reasons really.

Carson fell out with management, Brophy was not worth his wage, Gallagher lives in Dundee and logistically made sense, Main knocked back a deal and big Joe was surplus to requirements. Apart from Brophy, all in their 30s.

We need to give Goga whatever it takes to sign a new deal.

Highest earner at the club. Would most likely need to offer him higher to stay (if he wants to stay), since his performances have been absolutely solid since day 1.

I'd hope the only reason he moved on was to be closer to home or a last big pay day.

If we make one of those top 5 places this season, it may well be a deal breaker for next, and the fact he is getting international recognition whilst playing with us shows you don't need to be playing for one of the top clubs in the country.

Right from the first rumour, I just couldn't see KVV coming to us. Don't get me wrong, it was totally worth a punt and Killie have pulled off quite the coup.

That said, KVV doesn't particularly strike me as a SR striker. Is he the guy that will do plenty of donkey work out of possession? I don't think so.

But, purely based on last season, clubs in our position cannot afford to pass up on someone who is capable of that amount of goals for a diddy side. It was worth a shot and it's not worked out. We're no better or worse off than we were 24 hours ago.

I really don't see much in difference between ourselves and Killie, so it was a personal preference for him.

It may look like an in hindsight not bothered take because me missed out on KVV, though we may have avoided an expensive gamble. I felt it had similar vibes to Tony Watt signing last January window, where his goal tally didn't exactly set the heather on fire. He could prove me wrong, though he hasn't had a lot of game time in a couple of months, he turns 33 this summer and he's had one purple patch season (an incredible season at that) in his career.

If we look at games in blocks of 5, the next 5 are season defining.

Simply put, we must go to Livi and Dingwall, two grounds where we don't pick up a lot of wins and win them both. We also probably need to win against a much improved St. Johnstone and take something from a high on the crest of a wave Dundee.

Easter Road is the wild card. We can do anything there from winning relatively comfortably all the way to taking a shoeing.

10 points from the next block of 5 should see us to 39 points and within proper touching distance of securing a top six place. No point in looking all around us at results, we have it in our own hands still

Those home games vs Dundee and St Johnstone are absolutely vital to pick up maximum points. The likes of Livy and Ross County are always a couple of our toughest trips for a result, though I am confident we can take something from both or either. And as you say, our recent form vs Hibs has been a lottery, though mostly positive.

Played 21 games scoring 2 goals. Would rather we were not in the mix to sign him.

We have enough low scoring players

To be fair, I don't think he has been an out and out striker his whole career, has he? I thought he was more of an attacking mid. Just like Robbo getting the best out of Main at Motherwell and us, my hope is that he would be able to get similar out of Scott if the rumours are true. This guy sold for 7 figures only three years ago under the development of Robinson and his team.

  9. I'm personally not bothered about getting them this early in the competition. Nice yes, to get a wee away day down the coast or to an obscure ground we haven't been to before, though I'm a firn believer that a home game vs them this early in the competition, strengthens our position to go all the way IF we beat them. Other than that, worse case scenario is that it gives us more focus on a strong league finish if we go out.

I really hope we have a striker lined up because I can see us being left behind Dundee and Killie.

We would really have to move someone on to bring in another striker surely? We just punted Greive out on loan as he wasn't getting minutes. We already have Nahmani and LJ on limited minutes, already alongside Ayunga, Mandron and Olunsanya. Unless either of those leave from now till the end of the window, I can't see us bring in anyone else.

Out of the those players if any were to leave, if we could get an upgrade on Olunsanya (a player with pace that can trap a ball) then I think that would be the best of what we would see.

He was offered training facilities the last couple of weeks but apparently there wasn't an offer on the table.

In all honesty, a proven striker would be as nice for ourselves as any other club but I wouldn't be prioritising that area of the park with a guy who will get us about 5 or so goals rest of the season if we only have one or two more players inbound as Robinson has said is the plan.

Curtis would be an asset but would he improve the pool massively over what we have now for the money we'd lay out on him at the expense of improving other areas of the pitch? Hard to say but probably not.

I'd rather we settle on a front pairing that works and Ayunga and either Jamieson or Stav looks the strongest pairing I've seen in terms of energy and connection.

I feel Ayunga is our best option for grabbing the goals for the remainder of the season, with others chipping in too. I genuinely don't think having Ayunga, Mandron and Main in the team would have been beneficial as I think having one option in Mandron is enough for a target man, whether you agree he is better than Main or not. It would have been a luxury we couldn't afford and better used towards another position.

Agree with you in terms of the links up front. LJ has done better than I thought he would coming into the fold.

He does keep himself in good shape to be fair, but I can't imagine he'll get offered much more than that anywhere.

I think the reason he went to India was because no one offered him a long enough contract here, so why not head out there for a bit of a bump in wages? It's a shame for him that it hasn't worked out.

At his age and the form he left us in, it was probably his last chance to coin in serious money. I'm not sure how accurate online sources are, though one is estimating around 3.5k a week in India. Thats most likely an average wage for the likes of Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs up here.

His family seem to be settled up here, so it seems the only sensible option on the table to return even though he has a commute from Renfrewshire.

Between complaining about only beating a team of trialists 3-2 in what appeared to be an afternoon training session after pulling double duty in the morning, folk moaning about Kwon not being good enough level of a signing before he's kicked a ball and a full blown debate elsewhere on a fan forum as to why Baccus actually isn't that good, I genuinely wonder what goes through the heads of some of our supporters at times.

It's almost like the Facebook 'fans' group page Karen's have taken a day trip over to P&B to spout absolute nonsense for a day or two. Really really embarassing stuff.

Aiden Gilmarton going on loan to Stranraer - thought he was already out on loan somewhere but maybe not. Either way can't see it making much difference to the budget.

He was in the Lowland League with East Kilbride. Has stepped up a level into League 2 now. I think hes rated by the club and the step up will test him at a higher level. It's probably the likes of Gilmartin who may fill a place in the squad next season as a lower cost squad player attacking option.Just my opinion

So what is the feeling amongst us lot? After the window do you think we'll be better off, worse off, or pretty much swap like for like.

For me, I've got a feeling we'll be slightly worse off. We are a good team and I fully expect larger clubs to be looking at some "value purchases". Obviously that's value to them, not us, and we are a selling club of that there is no doubt. I'm not being overly pessimistic here, I don't expect us to drop down the table, in fact I reckon we'll finish roughly where we are now, but I do think we'll have a slightly weaker team after the break.

Strain being out injured is a problem for us on the pitch, we'll see if Bwomono is a replacement there, but it does sort of hint he won't be signing a PCA any time soon. O'Hara has gone off the boil a little, so again that plays into our hands, and we just need to see where Baccus sees himself next season and how that affects us in this window.

Overall, I do want to give positive outlook, as the season in general is going pretty well for us. We know we wouldn't win every game, but for the most part other results have gone in our favour when our own results has been poor.

I can't see us reducing the squad depth to be honest.

With Baccus and Strain almost certain to leave in the summer, I'd imagine work is already underway to find a replacement for Baccus, with Bwomono a proposed longer term replacement for Strain if he shows up well from now till the end of the season.

My only concern is that we are currently very light in central midfield (that includes Baccus available). Worse case scenario I see is that we ship out a forward and bring in a midfielder with those funds. If no one moves, we may possibly move Gogic back to midfield now that James Bolton is getting game time.

I don't see any real assets that are currently fit, that would be attracting any suitors at the moment for a January move. Probably Strain before his injury was our most sellable asset.

If it came to one or the other, I would be more focussed on tying up some of the first team squad longer term that are either approaching end of their contract or are 18 months away from.

I'm not even sure I believe that to be honest. Under Lennon we had guys like Thommo, Teale, Goodwin, Paul McGowan, Van Zanten as well as folk like Isma, Hasselbaink, Newton, Dummett, Carey, Tesselaar also kicking about at various points. I just don't see that being a really cheap squad. Under Gus, maybe, but even he managed to push out the boat for guys like Dargo.

Under SG, I believe we didn't budget for anything higher than 10th. When SMISA took over in 2016, they kept the same model, though within that transition, we were playing in the championship.

we have the second smallest budget in the league. Im not sure what the other clubs finances are like but Dundee seem to have a bit of backing, they did a lot of buisness in the summer

I don't believe that is true. Maybe in the past, though the manager was given the clubs biggest budget in years last season to push for top 6. I can't imagine that would have dropped by much (if any) when you see the quality in the squad we have.

Regardless, we have always been pretty good at using what we have in terms of resources vs similar size clubs.

It does seem to have improved since the beginning of the season.
What you will likely be subjected to is multiple steward checks for pyrotechnics but judging by the Motherwell display on Saturday that proved fruitless! 😂

I could be wrong though are we still only opening 1 gate (the one nearest west stand corner) for away fans? Seems part of the problem if we are.

I understand but he's regressed from a level where he was a genuine box to box engine room central mid who was everything that made us tick last season to struggling to find his man with 6 yard sideways passes this season.

I hope it's just poor form or a niggling injury but we need him in there. A guy who if a side had come in with high six figures pre-season, I'd have wanted us to chase them to now wholly advocating an extended spell out the side.

I'm at level now, I'd consider Bolton in, Gogic into midfield and O'Hara rested.

Cannae mind what game it was recently, though O'Hara never tracked his man back who went on to score (think it may have been at Ibrox). It looked like he either switched off or didnt have the desire to chase him and bust a gut.
