Stranraer -vs- Stenhousemuir
Clayhole Blue replied to Francesc Fabregas's topic in Scottish League 2 General Chatter
Great start!! Just need to stay focused second half now. -
Think it was also Hibs’ only win under Franck Sauzee?

Elgin City v Stranraer
Clayhole Blue replied to Thom & Gerry's topic in Scottish League 2 General Chatter
Huge next 4 games for us - Elgin City, Edinburgh City, Stirling Albion and, err, Hibs. Ironically, the 3 league matches more important. -
Confirmed now, and less than a fortnight until the game. Day and KO time to be confirmed. Hibs first visit to Stranraer since Jan 2002 - 0-0 draw, followed by 4-0 up at Easter Road. Oh, and we only have 3 crucial league games against the teams immediately above us in the table between now and the tie! Will be the tenth meeting between the clubs - all since 1988.

Tbf you couldn’t move for cameras at Brora yesterday. Suspect they had it in mind for one of the main matches on Sportscene but changed their plans because of the outcome [emoji38]

Scottish Cup 4th (and 5th) Round Draw
Clayhole Blue replied to LoonsYouthTeam's topic in Domestic Cup Football
There were so many postponements the afternoon of round 2. Our tie with Kelty only went ahead because they switched it to Starks. -
Scottish Cup 4th (and 5th) Round Draw
Clayhole Blue replied to LoonsYouthTeam's topic in Domestic Cup Football
They didn’t though - our last draw was Camelon or Brora Rangers or Hearts v Stranraer. It was only drawn after we had won our 2nd round tie -
I’ve no doubt both of these clubs would do well in the SPFL. My real gripe is that a lot of the people who trot it out know little about clubs in League One and League Two, and only ever bother to watch us when we are losing a cup tie in what they call an upset. We were poor yesterday for spells of the 90, but could have made life a lot easier if we had scored one or two of our few early chances. I’d also have loved to see the offside incidents from the stance of the BBC camera, but they didn’t show them. We were there for SFC Live but we were at the other end of the pitch. But the squad kept going, and dug in. And a testament to our squad is the difference all of the subs made when they came on. Jinky and Matty scored, and both Joao and Tom freshened us up. Tbf, still need to acknowledge how few games Brora have played this season. And want to add what a hospitable club they are.

Season a write off?
Clayhole Blue replied to EdinburghBlue's topic in Scottish League 2 General Chatter
Nonsense. The agreed protocols included them operating in a bubble so that they would be allowed to continue playing. Operating in a bubble does not include attending house parties... -

Gretna’s food was verging on criminal. -
Season a write off?

That would be ok if it had been agreed at the start of the season. Better extending the season and playing 27 as agreed. -
Worst football catering?
Clayhole Blue replied to EdinburghBlue's topic in Scottish League 2 General Chatter
Haven’t had the chance to sample League Two catering this season, but I do like Bain’s pies - as at Edinburgh City. They’re mince pies rather than scotch pies though. Best pies in recent seasons have always been at East Fife. Sadly, Stranraer’s catering is one of the poorer offerings. -

Would help Scottish Cup to restart if Leagues One and Two restart, but there are still some teams from leagues below that in the competition. -
Stranraer 2020-2021 - The Big 150
Clayhole Blue replied to GallowayBlue's topic in Scottish League 2 General Chatter
Came to us as a raw youngster, immediately scored on his debut and then took some time to establish himself after that fantastic start. By the end of the season when he returned to Killie we were desperate to see him stay. He had bagged a number of important goals by then and was a real presence up front for us. Not sure how many games he’s had recently, but think he’ll do a job for you! -

Help Please : Refreshment Stands
Clayhole Blue replied to Football by Film's topic in Scottish League 2 General Chatter
Don’t think there are too many ‘iconic’ ones, although there’s a really traditional one in the dusty old main stand at Starks which I kinda like. Also loved the old ‘canteen’ at Stranraer, but that disappeared 30 years ago. It had a lovely smell of pies and Bovril. Shame it’s been replaced by a van. -

Game now switched to Starks Park with 6pm KO according to Scottish Cup Twitter feed

Anybody out there? Looking forward to seeing this on Saturday as it’s always good to come up against somebody different. We’re on a very good run of form but also very much aware that this will be a tough test given Kelty’s form and league position.

Stranraer v Annan Athletic
Clayhole Blue replied to Clayhole Blue's topic in Scottish League 2 General Chatter
Apparently Sonkur was kicked off the ball. Agree with Cairn Terrier - totally scrappy fare first half with far too many long balls. Got to grips better after the break and always felt confident after Tam Orr’s opener.
