How many times- we didn’t outbid you for o Reilly- you only offered him 6 months while we offered him 18 months and he lives in Glasgow.

You had the funds to easily replace him with Ashcroft despite a number of other clubs seeking him.

rather bizarrely however both o Reilly and Ashcroft immediately picked up injuries and have barely played for their new clubs

To be fair, Partick also offered him more money than we did, in addition to the longer contract. We got him on a fairly cheap deal on the basis he didn't have a club at the time, but on a wage which was a lot less than he'd be earning at Hamilton.

A fair point on Lee Ashcroft, although this did involve Dan O'Reilly's wage being freed up and a couple of other players on admittedly smaller wages leaving the club - one on loan but one permanently. Similarly, Zak Rudden was part-paid by Jamie Gullan (one of our highest earners) being sold. That looked a fantastic piece of business, but unfortunately it backfired.

Rovers also have all that “conservatory money” to spend, whereas we don’t.

You outbid us for Dan O'Reilly and then left him on the bench before he got injured. This left us short in defence.

A big part of the new board has been controlling costs. Indeed, the increase in backroom staff was my only real concern of the new regime, as this obviously must be paid for. What has been eliminated are the McGlynn contracts including automatic increases and the daft spending on some players, with a better focus on costs to prevent them spiralling. We had no money to bring players in at the start of last season as McGlynn screwed the budget with players receiving significant incresses, decimating available funds even with departures. There is a proper cost structure in place now to prevent this happening again. This seems like something that ought to be obvious and which we should've been doing anyway, but we weren't.

A Saturday Night Takeaway winner says she is devastated after being told that her paralysed dog would not be allowed to go on the family holiday she won.

Charity worker Tammy Fox, 43, was chosen to be in the audience of 410 volunteers for her work running Pumpkin and Friends, a charity raising awareness of disabled animals.

    ...

Speaking about the ordeal to The Sun, she fumed: "I'm angry. This is effectively discrimination against my disabled dog. We wouldn't have the holiday if it wasn't for Pumpkin so it's only right that she comes.

Ignore airline policies, Tammy is special and deserves an exemption.

  4. Helping to send Inverness down would be fitting payback for the years of misery against them.

Alrhough this is as good as a meaningless fixture for us, we need to start building some momentum for the playoffs because our form has not been great. Play a proper back 4, rest anyone that is carrying a knock and don't be afraid to drop players that are out of form That's all I can ask, really.

  5. If Partick don't win then we're confirmed second. Quite frankly, looking at this as a whole, failing to finish second given where we are would be a disgrace.

We have got the better of them this season, but the games have all consisted of thin margins. Our title challenge is over, so now is probably a good time to play us as we'll be a bit deflated. What we need to do is regroup and build some momentum ahead of the playoffs, with a decent chance that we will be facing our Saturday opponents in it. I wouldn't be looking at the league results as a barometer of how this would go, but there is a sinking feeling that if it's Airdrie, then we are totally fucked.

Partick are in good form also. It's very much a turnaround from our last match against them. A very tough fixture ahead of us.

  6. I'm pissed off about last night, but there are some viewpoints so far that are going to look regrettable when reviewed with a clear mind. We have surpassed expectations this season and, whilst there is some clear room for improvement in the team, we certainly haven't fared badly at all. It is fine to be aggrieved at the way it's turned out, but it's also the best we have been for over a decade. There have only been a couple of genuine title challenges at this level since we were relegated from the Premier League: some perspective is needed there.

16st9 on Tuesday. Down another 3lbs since the last weigh in.

Very happy with that, as I had a long weekend away and also a couple of social occasions, which meant I didn't stick to the plan particularly well. Hoping to manage down to the low 16s this month, owing to the lack of such things.

16st6. So that's a stone down for the year.

Going to go up this month though, unfortunately, due to events.

  8. No good comes out of saying anything about Millen, for either the club or the player. For the club you just get all sorts of nonsense in the press (suggestions the manager's lost the dressing room and/or unwanted commentary from various parties having an opinion on matter). You'll also have some people coming along and defending him no matter what it was he actually did/say, which helps no-one. The player meanwhile might find his future employment prospects damaged through gaining a reputation as a troublemaker.

I don't see how else it can realistically be handled.

The farmers were very keen on Brexit because they believed that all those pesky cheap EU imports would stop and they could raise their prices. Here they are giving the game away.

Around 30% of the UK's food comes from Europe, with 20% from rest of world.

  10. Yeah, it's certainly not a bottling. You've got Dundee United who have a budget much larger than than the rest, are miles ahead of them, and yet we are still in with a chance. They are very much favourites, which in fairness they have always been, whilst we've exceeded expectations.

If we don't win it, I'll be looking at both those Arbroath games in particular. You can't say it without coming across as a bit crass, but they are the worst team in the league by a fair distance, and a 2-0 lead in both fixtures yielded a single point. That is disgraceful, to he quite frank. See also the 4-4 with Ayr, which was shambolic as we had a man advantage for most of the game. It could also be argued these are a counterweight to the last minute winners we've scored; there is sometimes a tendency to forget the good stuff that might've never happened when considering the bad stuff that we wish didn't happen.

However, whilst we are still in it, we cannot afford any slip ups and we need to take advantage of any slip up from Dundee United, which we have not managed all season. Time is running out.

Well that's a bit of a minter for JKR and her cultists, since they've spent months gibbering hyperbolic pish about being locked up, persecuted, silenced etc by a government that "hates women" if they dared to voice exactly the things JKR tweeted yesterday.

There is zero chance Rowling is being prosecuted under this. She has the means and time (and willingness) to fight it and they know it. She loses she'll still be very rich; there are basically no consequences for her.

The first test of this in court will inevitably be some Twitter dafty with 120 followers.

What's Ally planning on singing at the weekend ?

He must've forgotten that the OBAF was never used against Rangers or Celtic either.

Despite these clubs being the reason we were lumbered with it before its repeal.

We need 9 points from these 3 home games. Anything less and it's all over.

We need to win the game in hand, and then better Dundee United's results in the other five. Goal difference is out, so we need to win when they either draw or lose a match. Failing to match one of their results during this period and it's game over.

I do think the chance will present itself, but whether we can take advantage of it is the big question.
