  2. Atmosphere sounds pretty decent. Never understand why folk get hung up on crowds. Never stopped to think ‘oh this is good but would be brilliant if there was another 1,000 people around me’ Much rather sit amongst 10-15,000 folk who support their local team than 52,000 bigots, dregs and glory grabbers tomorrow.

  3. Didnt watch the game, but its mental people are having a go at Cove's tactic. Same kind of goons that think Motherwell sitting in away to Celtic is somehow damaging to Scottish football. Theyve just got an unlikely point that puts them firmly in the driving seat to avoid automatic relegation. Fair fucks to them.

  9. SFA and SPFL are an incompetent mess that really need gutting, Scottish football is so badly run from top to bottom with everything done to suit two teams and this B team nonsense just illustrates that point. I’m 100% against B teams and that includes the ones in Non League. One club, one team but if they are going to allow them they should certainly have to start at the bottom of the pyramid. They’ve no right to jump the Ex Junior clubs many of whom reluctantly joined the set up. The sad thing here is the pyramid has the potential to be a good thing and the Lowland League could be a great league if they’d open up the bottlenecks at Tiers 4 and 5. Scottish football is never going to be on the level of the big boys of Europe but it’s certainly capable of far more than the current shambles of self interest. It’s well supported with good attendance per head of population, there’s some really good rivalries across the country between passionate fan bases. Sadly the SFA and SPFL are only interested in selling as many Old Firm games as possible to SKY TV, the last Edinburgh Derby wasn’t even televised. What’s badly needed is leadership who want to work on a product for Tiers 1-10 and promote our game at every level, the current mob want Celtic and Rangers winning the Premiership with their B teams winning the Championship what a terrible product for everyone outside those two clubs. It’s almost like Maxwell and Doncaster believe fans of the other clubs are just Old Firm fans without the bus fare and are delighted to see them.

  10. Auchinleck Talbot 2-0 Clydebank, WoS League Cup Final, 28/04/23. A well deserved win for Talbot in Irvine as they really took control of the game after the break. They went ahead in the first minute of the second half and sealed it with a nice free kick not long after, also having a goal disallowed (I think rightly) for offside in between. Clydebank had the better of the opening stages, missed a decent chance then hit the bar with a penalty. But they faded out the game and were comfortably beaten. Highlight of my evening came pre-kick-off, when a local resident came out of her house to protest that my car was blocking the entrance to her driveway. As I showed her, it absolutely was not, and was not even close to doing so. But she continued to object and insisted that 'Mah man' would be most displeased when he came home. What exactly would displease him about a car being parked on a main road a perfectly legal and reasonable distance from his driveway is beyond me, but I decided this may add a level of hassle to my evening that I did not require, so shifted the car round the corner. Irvine seems nice... Another lad round the corner was running up the street shouting down a phone (presumably to a neighbour) telling him to get pictures of all the cars parked for 'evidence'. Why he wanted evidence of legally parked motors is a question only he can answer. In fairness, Medda Park is not the most traffic-friendly of venues for a game like this. Anyway, a good night at the fitba, and well done to Talbot.

  11. That was an incredibly unremarkable game of football, particularly from a Rovers perspective. Everyone performed almost exactly as you'd expect them to, maybe with the exception of Adam Masson who did well over the piece after a couple of early slips. Beyond that, MacDonald made some good saves, Brown battled manfully in the middle, etc etc. Absolutely run of the mill, and when you look at the injuries and the players available, and the fact that we'd nothing to play for, I think that's... fine. Maybe the manager learned one or two things about a player or two, but nothing more than that to take from it. One game closer to the end of the season. Good luck to Ayr United, I really like Frankie Musonda and I hope he can go on and do well in the playoffs for you. Frankie alone is a more likeable character than anyone who's ever been associated with Greenock Morton or Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

  12. Aberfoyle Rob Roy 0-7 Gargunnock Of all the 10 grounds in the Forth & Endrick League I've been to so far (all but Gargunnock, including Thornhill who are now in abeyance), this is my favourite. Lovely old turnstile, but especially the views were just great. The game itself was very one-sided. The scoreline still flattered the hosts as it should really have been double figures. And that while Gargunnock's goalkeeper went off injured after about 30 minutes without them having a reserve goalie. The outfield player who played 60 minutes in goal had no issues keeping a clean sheet. Attendance: approx. 20 humans, 1 dog & 2,000 midges

  19. 42/42 Dunfermline 2-1 Clyde, League One, 29/04/2023. There we have it. 291 days after getting the ball rolling in summer of 2022 with Albion Rovers v Cove Rangers in the League Cup, after the darkening months of autumn and the freezing your baws off of winter; after long drives to get home at 2am and long days with cans of Tennent's on the train, at East End Park today it all came to an end. A party atmosphere (of sorts) for the home side, but it was a bit flat for much of the day as Clyde played well, showing good discipline and looking a much better side than they have for most of the season, while Dunfermline obviously lacked a bit of intensity. Salkeld has been a fine signing for the Bully Wee and he scored a really well-taken goal to put Clyde in front 12 minutes in. It was the first thing of note to happen in the match. Poor defending, with multiple chances to clear missed, led to Clyde conceding an equaliser right on half-time. It was a shame, as they'd have deserved their lead for their hard work, composure, and discipline. Second half saw Jon Craig miss a good chance for Clyde, and then the visitors had a goal ruled out for offside, which looked fair enough. Dunfermline took control as it moved on, and Lewis McCann won it for them with a really good hit after an error by Craig. Tough on Clyde, whose performance deserved a point. But good news from Kelty means it's the play-offs for the BW rather than automatic relegation. And recent performances give cause for optimism heading into those ties. So, there we have it. 42/42. I'll post up a wee reflection/summary later for anyone who's interested. But it's been a joy.

  20. Don’t get much time off work that doesn’t involve going to a Scotland game, so decided to do a bit of a European tour this week. Reymersholms IK 6-2 IK Viljan Strängnäs and AIK 0-0 IK Sirius Whilst enjoyable, not a patch on the German football experience - and the football wasn’t great. Stockholm is an absolutely stunning city though.

  23. The penalty decision gets worse each time I see it. Scandalous really. There's no way that the sanction and 'offence' are remotely proportionate. McCann has literally done nothing wrong. Morally, he's not; he's not even made an error. It's just stupid. Nobody suggested introducing VAR so that decisions like that could be made. I enjoy a laugh at Falkirk's expense more than most. I'm struggling to find that one funny though - it really is just wilful stupidity.

  24. He can identify a hundred different players but the issue is that the quality isn’t there in January. You can take a punt on a random youngster like Caley did with Henderson which may or may not work out. Those that expect a great window in January simply haven’t gotten to grips with how hard it is and tbh I’m not sure how as it’s been that way for years. January was poor but you’re stretching it to try and lay the blame with the club. You can lay blame however at the way we have approached different key games and ultimately dropped points from them. Edit: I find it hilarious how quickly we’ve come to the point that folk are now questioning why we have a head of recruitment considering he’s the one that was responsible for us finding and signing our most valuable player in about 50 years. Give me fucking peace man.

  25. Amazes me that there have been people watching this saying Falkirk have been clearly the better team. They have had lots of possession but done very little with it other than a howler from Ridgers. Inverness much stronger defensively and carrying much more of a threat going forward. Falkirk’s defence of cross balls has been shambolic.

  28. Cove were entitled to play that way. Dundee were shit in terms of doing anything about it. I think it's a good thing that the winning points total will be low. It suggests a division of well matched teams in which wins are meaningful. Give me that over the division above it any day.

  32. I know I didn’t put him in my TOTS but if there’s any justice in the world Sean McGinty will be in it for this league. He’s been a colossus for us all season and stepped up when we were missing Kirk and Musonda. Scored a couple of important goals into the bargain as well. I’ve got no doubt that if he didn’t have such horrendous spells at Morton and Thistle then he’d get more plaudits from other teams but he’s been 7 or 8/10 most weeks for us.

  35. They were excellent. Admittedly Airdrie were weaker in midfield today (both physically and in terms of quality) but those three bossed whoever we tried in there. I’ve been really impressed by Todd this season, he’s exactly the kind of player we need in there and while Wilson is made of poppadoms (any contact today seemed to leave him needing treatment) he’s a very good player at this level. I can’t say I’m too fussed about the game itself. Airdrie were poor throughout but we already knew that we had a good starting eleven and not much quality beyond that. Salim did alright and took his goal well. Byrd had a shaky start but was probably one of our better players. Euan Deveney put in the worst individual Airdrie performance I’ve seen since Jay Riley, he’s hit and miss at the best of times but he seems to be someone who needs a run of games to be at his best. The Paton celebration was a weird one. I was at the other end so couldn’t read it but apparently it said justice for Rico. Fair enough, not worth getting into it as the court decision said it all, but a bit like the Kyle Doherty one at Clyde a few weeks ago, I don’t think many people even knew who he was before he celebrated like that. As I said the last time we played Queens, he’s a very good player but an odd character.

  36. Can already see the, we need you to get behind the team messages and get gayfield full, fact is the team has had unbelievable support all season and it hasn't been deserved for most of the performances we have had to witness, We don't expect to win every week but we deserve way better performances than we have had, Next week it's up to the management team to play the best players in there best positions snd go out and win the game and for them to pay back for the unbelievable backing they have had

  38. The short sighted decision to let Murray go has cost us big time. Whatever we received was but a pittance to what we would have earned in the Premiership. I have no doubt in my mind that if Murray had stayed we would have won this league some time ago. As it is we are a shattered team with no leadership on the park and little sense of direction. Huge task to build them up for one last hurrah! If anyone can do it OC can.

  41. A young St Mirren player just played a pivotal role in getting his loan team to the Scottish Cup Final. I think ge deserves the praise he's getting. He played well and put in several terrific crosses. OK, Falkirk could've maybe pressed him a bit better but his delivery is excellent. I'm all for looking for better players - Henderson is still likely to improve - but he deserves the plaudits coming his way today.

  42. Oliver goes back in for the playoffs IMO. Very much onwards for me. I think we will progress. Obviously I hope we will. Today was a bonus, where ultimately the difference in the respective final thirds was way too much. Inverness were well organised an good value for that but anyone that thinks we embarrassed ourselves or anything like that is at it. Bring on the playoffs now. Honestly can't wait to be playing to go up.
