  1. Rangers fans trying to sing sectarian bile through the Hibs fans tribute to Ron Gordon angered me far more than it probably should have, seeing as I have no particular connection to any of the teams. I won’t hear a word from Rangers fans that it was a ‘minority’ either, it was the vast majority of the away end trying to drown out Sunshine on Leith with a rendition of The Billy Boys, for absolutely no good reason. When Walter Smith died there wasn’t a team in the league, with the possible exception of a few mindless Celtic fans, who dared to disrespect any minutes silences or tributes Rangers fans wanted to hold towards him. The fact that these mutants have turned up in Edinburgh knowing there was going to be some sort of tribute before the game, after singing through the minutes applause at Hampden a week earlier, and thought that the smart thing to do was to try and make the spectacle all about them makes me genuinely angry. If I was in any sort of position of authority at Hibs I would be letting Rangers know that their fans are no longer welcome at Easter Road, and if they tried to argue the point in any way they would be pointed directly towards the attempted bigotry at Easter Road, and the audible rendition of the Billy Boys at Hampden. Old Firm fans truly are the absolute dregs of society, living in a world that revolves around the fortunes of a football team.

  5. That perspective isn’t really taking in the whole picture. Davidson has spent a fortune on players and the best we can really hope for is 8th and you’d think probably 9th given current trajectories hes replaced a young vibrant squad (built on a shoestring relative to what Davidson has been allowed to spend to replace the departing players) with aging ‘do a job’ signings who have no resale value. He has either had the final say in signing all the players currently at the club or agreed to extend their contracts, so I’m struggling to see how he can hide behind the board and previous employees of the club on that front either. the football is terrible to watch and we lose more than half the matches. Literally the worst of all worlds. Setting up to not lose every week, no matter the opposition, is depressing. Even against Ayr in the league cup, when we knew a big win could get us through, we scored an early goal and made no attempt to try and get more, just happily take the 1-0 even though we were out without more goals. he’s married to a horrendous shape that hasn’t ever really worked, outside of a ridiculously good 4 month window. He has shown no signs that he’s learning or that he can be adaptable, he’s just more than happy to hang players out to dry out of position and leave out of form players in the team if they’re his favourites. his treatment of individual players is inconsistent and at times awful. Wotherspoon being the most recent player he’s decided to try and freeze out for no reason, when you’ve got a dumpling like Carey stinking out the place every week and he’s apparently undroppable. the general standards that are acceptable at Saints have dropped through the floor under Davidson’s stewardship. We used to take hammerings off the bigger teams occasionally - it’s par for the course when you’re St Johnstone - but I’d never expect a manager to say they’re pleased after such a performance. He should be furious and going all out to get a reaction the following week. The club seem to be buzzing at the prospect of finishing above 11th, despite spending a fortune and with what must be the biggest squad in our history. There’s just no desire to try and push on, we just chase after bad for short term fixes. The pitch doesn’t help but it’s the same for both teams and the home form has been dreadful since Davidson took over. 9 home goals in the league the year we won the double. The cup successes and the players at that time - all of the main players were brought in by Tommy wright at that time - masked that issue in his first season but he’s not really tried anything to improve that either. As things stand I can’t see me renewing my season ticket. Other issues at the club and in my life generally are contributing to that as well but the main driver is Callum Davidson and his anti football philosophy. I can feel myself drifting away from the club - I didn’t even follow the game on Saturday, which isn’t like me at all - and have to drag myself along to games out of habit… and because I like the steak and gravy pies.

  6. They probably will the fannys. But the lack of self awareness from you is magnificent. Can’t wait til your fanbase’s next display of look how oirish and rebellious against the system we is to be sure. Never forget that absolutely everything you think of them is exactly what you are, just in a different flavour.

  7. Normally we can just post any sort of score and it's taken on trust. But not today. I was drinking a pint (well schooner) with none other than @Eednud, and he will testify in a court of a law that I got 10/10. Some might say flying 10,000 miles just to have your quiz score verified is a bit extreme, but I think it's worth it.

  9. If I had any belief that all this was about building something then it would be something but there are just no signs that it is the case. Shy of having the ever regressing Mitchell on the right of the back three, the team he put out at Motherwell when he returned to the back three was decent as it was largely square pegs in square holes but since then we've had to contend with injuries and suspensions and there has been absolutely zero flexibility despite not having the players available to make that system our most effective option. Brown at LWB or LCB, Hallberg too deep, McClennan as a centre forward, Carey full stop. None of those work yet he continually tries it because, to him, the system is the most important thing. We are going backwards under Callum Davidson, wherever we finish this season, and eventually that will become tangibly evident in the level we find ourselves playing at. Those defending him right now will forever be remembered as being on the wrong side of history and forums and social media preserve it for us.

  20. I would normally discuss games with opposition fans on the match thread and with fellow Falkirk fans in the Falkirk thread. Does that not make sense? I never feel the need to go on to another teams thread to get involved in their own discussions on the match whether we win or lose but for some reason other teams do.

  22. FFS... 1. There is no 20-odd billion Barnett bonus. The Barnett formula provides return based on a population based share of the money Scots tax payers have already paid Westminster to invest on projects (unsurprisingly mainly in and around London and the South East). We DO NOT receive back any of the associated multiplied effect economic (and therefore revenue) growth inspired by our share of that initial investment. That economic growth is often very much localised in the area the investment is made. Subsequent revenue raised is assigned to that particular region. As the term "multiplier" would suggest the revenue raised is often multiples of the initial spend. We give a broker money to invest in a stock. The stock price rises (sometimes by multiples). The broker gives us back our initial investment and keeps the profit. The broker then claims we owe him money. Sorry to dent your Daily Express reader levels of comprehension with regards to the workings of the public economy.........but the rest of the UK...and very much so Scotland........are subsidising London and the South East. 2. It might have been a while since you last visited, but Scotland is actually quite a developed nation now with much of the infrastructure and agency required by a sovereign state. Any initial costs will likely be massively dwarfed by future savings.

  23. I would genuinely ban the phrase “it isn’t VAR that’s to blame, it’s the people running it!” until people can get it into their thick skulls that we (the anti-VAR lot) already know that that’s what VAR is, and that’s precisely why we don’t want it.

  26. I think that’s where the “underwhelming” comes in. As the images above show what’s been done is good quality and looks good but those nice dressing rooms are still inside a temporary building. And as a whole project, as a stadium, as a place to call home, still a lot to be done before any of those boxes can be ticked. And how many pints need to be sold to recover the wasted money? A golden opportunity to do something special, wasted by incompetence. If it is just that.

  31. Fed up of reading we are still punching above our weight 14 years after promotion. For these people, how many more years do they want in the Premiership before we become an established top league club in their eyes? It's not even being overly ambitious what we want to see. I'm not asking for cup finals every year and Europe, 45 minutes of decent football would be a good start.

  32. VT's difficulty is that he just can't discuss things in a normal way. Had he allowed himself to merely point out the limitations of considering 'real terms' due to the feature he's identified regarding long standing mortgage payers, he'd have had something worth saying. However, he seems unable to simply do that. Instead he has to say that the entire notion of 'real terms' needs to get "in the bin". In fact, his need to put others down leads him into the frankly bizarre territory of suggesting the focus should instead be on absolute terms. He lets the demands of maintaining his persona on here, cloud his capacity for thought at times.

  33. The notion that there are "no go" areas on P&B for other clubs fans is a complete nonsense to be honest. If people want to stick to their own fans only they will mostly have their own fans message boards to post on if they want. I almost never visit another club's own discussion sites. On the other hand if it's on here and I feel like reading it or commenting on it then I will. It's a multi club forum. People that don't like that are free to not let the door hit them on the arse on their way out to their own place. If Falkirk fans want to be precious about their own place they can do it in "One F" or whatever it's called.

  34. Thought my wee doggy was a goner this morning. I had an awful night's sleep last night, my 2 year old had to be up every 2 hours for some reason, so I was sleep walking when I took my dog out to pee. I walked into the lift, hit the 1st floor button and just assumed my dog was behind, hear the doors close and turn around to see the leash sticking through the door with the dog on the other side, the lift was already moving, I pushed the button for the next floor down and the leash cord snaps. Sprinted up the stairs fearing the worst, to be greeted by my dog just sitting as if to say "did you forget something d*ckhead?" As you can see, this near death experience has deeply affected her...

  35. Have heard this price being banded about but i'm not sure if it's true or not. Me personally, I'll pay it and buy one........before people have a go at me, hear me out. I'm still attending matches in my Italy 90 shirt and I don't buy many of the Scotland kits, in fact I think I only own another 2. So for this shirt, I'll buy it, retire the old faithful Umbro one before it's damaged beyond repair and this will become my Scotland shirt for the next 20 years or so. I'm not sure I agree with this, £25 for an Adult ticket and £10 or £5 for a child, is reasonable in my opinion. The SFA have priced tickets very well since Clarke came in.

  36. Dundee beating QP twice and drawing once is our season in a nutshell. The level of consistency QP have shown out with that fixture and over the course of the season will see them promoted. Dundee have been disgracefully average in a season where the league was meant to be at it's 'weakest'. We may well win our game in hand tomorrow and QP will drop points between now and the end of the season. My spineless team will not capitalise on those dropped points. When QP do go up - absolute fair fucks. What a story and what a journey for the fans.

  38. Dundee have a home game in hand - could easily be down to 4 point gap. Dundee still have to play Queens and have beaten them the last 4 times they've met so that 4 points could be 1. A couple of IFs there I agree but neither would be surprising. I think "monumental arse collapse" is a bit of an exaggeration.

  40. I've been to every game this season apart from our cup disaster and the recent trips to Ibrox and Celtic Park. I feel like I'm living in some alternative universe. we're struggling and already getting beat most weeks? We've conceded the first goal something like 18 times this season. We've got an appalling home record. We've only managed 2 wins this year and that was against a terrible Motherwell side who sacked their manager the following week and a United team who let's be frank on par or worse than last season's Dundee. Yesterday's first half wasn't us trying to be expansive? Other teams are playing much more entertaining football. Livi ripped us to shreds at McDiarmid. Kilmarnock did likewise in the first half with two skilful wingers. It's possible. Struggling to see how anyone can watch our current game plan and think it's as a good idea or that it's working because it hasn't worked very well for 2 years. A result every 5-6 games isn't some sort of vindication that Davidsons game plan works. Other managers have long since worked out how to play against us yet we continue to repeatedly try the same thing.

  41. Dumbarton have got off lightly v rovers 3 times this season Reilly will be in premiership/championship next year, my best bet would be Dundee or Kilmarnock Not only is Bevan only 18, I'm pretty sure he only turned 18 at the start of January, his physical size for a boy of that age is impressive alone Also just to note, this is Rovers first win in Dumbarton since 2001, the first time Rovers visited the rock, Currently in Budapest with work and have now missed my third game this season while away on different work jollies, 1-0 win v Stranrear, 4-0 win v Stranraer, and now 5-1 win v Dumbarton. I may not come back home
