  1. There is, and today provided a huge amount of evidence as if more was needed, absolutely not one fucking shred of doubt that Scottish Football would be a country mile better off without these two "clubs" and their "fans".

  4. Thanks everyone for your thoughts here. Last week was very difficult but we went up to spend the day with my folks yesterday and they are still raw but doing a bit better, although I think my dad and brother, who were there in the moment, have had a bit of a trauma response. The very good news is that someone has been charged under the dangerous dogs act, with a second person being actively looked for. The dog seems to have been moved on but apparently failing to produce it will go against them in court. My brother put a fair amount of pressure on police and councillors but seems to have worked, so some sense of justice there.

  11. It's possible to concurrently wish to see your team progress through the pyramid as far as possible while also wishing that the LL wasn't so clearly and absolutely shite. No matter how progressive you proclaim to be I'd be sceptical of the honesty anyone saying they don't think the LL is anything better than a purgatory division that has to be endured rather than enjoyed. Yes, there are reasons for that which can be substantially laid at the doors of the traditional minded teams in the WOS league, but lamenting past actions doesn't make the current situation any better whether you were on one side of the argument or the other.

  13. Has it been mentioned already that Aberdeen fans were prevented from doing their chosen display because the police mistakenly thought it had, wait for it, IRA connotations. 15. We last leafleted 4 games in a row just over a month ago - a thousand leaflets at each game - we will no doubt do that again but after the 4th leafleting people were a bit fed up getting more paper. We decided to wait for a while before doing it again. There is a monthly electronic newsletter and we have people next to stand up banners at every home game trying to get sign ups. We are active on social media and we have a good tie in relationship with Falkirk Daft that has a monthly draw for the prizes we offer to members. We are looking at other benefits but we have to be very careful about attracting VAT on any benefits - we recently did some research on this and it can be a minefield if we get it wrong. We have put leaflets out at all hospitality events when we can. There is a page in every programme written by FSS. The club website has a direct link to the FSS sign up page on the ticket pages. You can sign up directly on teh FSS site (which is reasonably maintained) or download a standing order if paypal is not your thing. Here it is: https://falkirksupporters.org/subscribe/ There were 3 "sign up" videos by McGlynn, Jamie, and Paul Watson produced and shared on social media at the beginning of the season. There you go - we've done eveything you suggest in your post and continue to do them.

  16. The league should have made sure that if a champion was unlicensed then the next placed licensed club went into the play offs. Clubs spending cash on players without spending it on infrastructure shouldn’t be rewarded for it!

  20. Victoria Park, home of Newtongrange Star in 1994. Now a housing estate. The stand was financed by the Midlothian Coal Company. They offered a similar stand to Rosewell Rosedale but the people of Rosewell opted for pithead baths instead. Victoria Park hosted stock car racing in the 1970s also. Willie Bauld, Dave McKay, Freddie Glidden and, er, Walter Kidd are among a number of famous Jambos who turned out on this park for Nitten.

  23. I mean did they not have to submit their plans to Hampden/SPFL? They would have had access the day before to set it up surely. Did nobody running the stadium or league think, hey glorifying guys who didn't accept Good Friday and run protection rackets in another country under the auspices of being freedom fighters is a good look for one of the three showpieces in our game. f**k me.

  24. First and foremost, to have any chance of keeping Brophy beyond the end of the season we need to stay up. Secondly, Brophy needs to feel like he is getting back to his best and enjoying playing for the club, which hopefully he is. Lastly, we'd need the finances to entice him to stay. Even if we met all 3, there could still be a more appealing offer on the table. I'm taking it on face value at the moment, and will enjoy the next few months that he's at the club. What happens after - we'll see, but I'd like to think that if he continues on the form he's in now then we'd at least ask the question.

  25. Another personal view: There are 640 members in FSS some of whom are donating more than £10 a month. That is NOT A FAILURE. In fact the mention of Motherwell at the AGM was a mistake - their membership has a lot of young people paying next to nothing and a large number of £5 a month subscriptions. If you look at the other supporters schemes they pretty much max out at 50% of their season ticket holders. FSS has been a huge success from a standing start and I get annoyed when it is hinted at that it has failed. There has been a steady stream of new members to join FSS over the last month. Around a further 50 will have signed up in the last 6 weeks and it keeps on slowly growing. I expect we will have around 700 by the end of the season and a boost if we get to the Semi Finaly/promotion. That brings in nearly £8,000 a month - a decent amount to help John and Paul. It is important that FSS is well supported as it is the only voice of the fans - you can come to the AGM on the day after the Ayr game and ask questions, keep everyone accountable and meet the fan directors. That is much more important than simply just raising money for the club - you can have representation as well as helping keeping the team out of the red. Furthermore there is a lot of work being done behind the scenes of FSS which will, we hope, will bring long term benefits to the club. That is another reason to donate to FSS instead of another scheme that gives you nothing really. Time will tell.

  31. Will you actually be engaging with what other people have said at any point? This is about the third time today that you've made up an opinion nobody holds, written a post arguing against it and then finished off with a sage 'guess everyone on this forum is an idiot except me'. Appreciate that this is all just deflection because you realise you've been proven spectacularly wrong on your early season 'Tierney isn't actually second choice' thing, but actually having a discussion with people rather than making things up might be worth a go.

  32. Berwick Rangers beating a pretty weak Rangers B team 3-0 at the weekend shows the farce of the B teams as it can be a completely different team depending on when you play them in the season. I know if wont matter too much this season but if Berwick for example beat Civil Service by 1 or 2 points to the title or from relegation spot or qualifying for Challenge Cup then really unfair as the teams have played a completely different Rangers B team.

  34. Thank you @djchapsticks St Mirren - Scotland Thanks for joining, you have now been entered into the league, you will start in the 3rd tier (Last Chance Saloon Shootout) The League - Runs from Mon to Fri, each day a link will be posted by the first person to do the quiz for that day, therefore if you come on to post your score and you are the first for that day out of kindness, stick a link in your post. Also, say which day you are posting, easier for myself. If you missed a day or two you can catch up using the http://quizoftheday.co.uk/archive/ Your final scores for the week, usually have to be in by midday on Saturday, however I'll remind those folk on a Friday, before I head out to the disco to bed. League tables are posted on Wed/Thu and Sat. If you're in the top 3 you will be promoted automatically, coming 4th you're in the playoff, which will be held on that same day. This is always a well constructed question to the highest standard possible. . Weekly Cup - This runs along side the league, you don't need to do anything extra, you will enter this cup if you are in the top 3 of any league. Sometimes there is a playoff question, this question is always about football stadium capacities. Diddy Cup - This runs along side the league, you don't need to do anything extra, you will enter this cup if you are one of the 12 worst players from the previous week Random Cup - These cups pop up now and again, which are put together by one of the league members. At the moment we have just started a six nations cup @The Hologram is running at the moment, you may be too late to join. It's all rather easy to follow, just remember to keep posting.... gifs are welcome and the unwritten rule @Jacksgranda is not allowed to win anything apart from a few wooden spoons. Good Luck!

  35. Yer’ arse. Want to look at the list of fines handed down over recent years for the songbooks, the banners, the behaviour at certain other games? Reading someone posting, in seemingly serious fashion too, that Old firm fans watch their Ps & Qs for fear of European sanctions nearly made me actually soil my breeks. The beaks should have been handing down closed-doors punishments at the very least, rather than a derisory fine after fine, with an associated slap on the wrist and a ‘gonnae no’ dae’ that’ edict issued to Old firm clubs due to fans very much stepping out of line season after season, time after time.

  40. I'm giving this 4/10 Feigning misunderstanding for comic effect is something I'm a big fan of (as regular readers will no doubt have noticed) and I'd never condemn anybody for trying it but the execution is sadly lacking One can't help but think that you should have come up with a sillier punchline that would have delivered more comedic payload For example maybe using Dumbarton and Stenhousemuir You are entitled to appeal your grade but bear in mind it could go down instead of up on review

  41. I now qualify for a concession season and asked this year if I could pay the full price with the balance going to the club. They were happy with me paying the extra but wanted that to go to the scheme that was running at the time which allowed less fortunate folk to go to a game. I'd happily pay more for my ST if the balance was going to the FSS and I'd wager that a good few more folk would too.

  42. There's no defending Slattery making a homphobic remark at a police officer whatsoever. However, I can't help but think that any comment on him playing during the campaign this month is devalued a bit by the fact it was his sixth appearance in the month of February and he had just scored a last minute equaliser against your team. If the point was pertitent, surely it would have been made on one of his previous five appearances.
