  1. In a darkened livingroom somewhere in central Latvia a man sits with a full ashtray and a cup of coffee long since gone cold. He mutters to himself in Finnish "Why didn't I apply for an academy role first?!"

  4. She quite literally said that she would have voted to deny people the right to marry had she been in parliament at the time the bill was being voted on because she disagrees with them being able to do so, while standing for a post which would give her a great influence in making rules. That she wouldn't actually bring forward a bill on the matter now doesn't mean the people whose rights she'd have liked to deny are going to shrug their shoulders, ignore it and gleefully vote for her. Other religious parliamentarians, including one who is a member of the same church and same party, are not under attack for holding religious views, because somehow they've managed to reconcile sincerely holding a religious belief with not believing same sex couples should have fewer rights than heterosexual couples. It's almost as if no one is being criticised for being religious and the crux of the issue is holding a homophobic viewpoint, regardless of the underlying reason for holding it.

  5. Let them carry on imo. Fan involvement and volunteering your spare time is great to see and can be really important for clubs at our level. But you do it because it’s the club you support. Not because you want special treatment or stuff in return. If you’re willing to boycott a club because you aren’t getting your own way then you weren’t much of a supporter to begin with.

  6. It's not about absolute purity of beliefs. It's about choosing someone who will protect the rights of those she serves. The crux of her argument is that while she may disregard the civil rights of gay people, may feel it is wrong for folk to have children outside of marriage, that it's OK because these are already enshrined rights and she isn't going to tamper with them. Yet as First Minister, she may be called on to protect those rights, there may be calls to enhance those rights or those policies that may be to the advantage of those groups. Is that going to her priority? If the Tories in their likely dying days of government decided to implement cuts that would massively disadvantage single parents, would Forbes use political capital to protect that? Or if they came back after gay rights, now or ten years down the line - would Forbes see that as something she would fight for? She isn't going into bat for the GRR after all. What ever you think of it, it was passed with massive cross party support, but because she personally doesn't like the content of the bill she isn't willing to expend her efforts on protecting the wider devolution settlement. So she clearly isn't taking the tack that her faith is a private matter, or something more malleable than the strict orthodoxy of the church that she finds comfort in. Her faith informs her, helps shape her view of the world. Well, fine - there is, I gather, a great comfort in the idea that a higher power can guide you. That's not why she's being pilloried. She wants to put herself up in the gallery and ask people to vote for her, by extension she is putting up her beliefs - formed in part from her faith. There is no way to shield herself that way. Folk can and will make up their minds, not that they don't like religious people but that they believe that her views - informed by that faith - make her an unreasonable candidate to protect the rights and policies those people want to see kept safe.

  7. Chairman sat down 3 weeks ago on camera and updated everyone. I’m sure they will again when there is something to actually say. I’d rather these things were getting sorted professionally behind closed doors than play out publicly like the embarrassing back and forth we had a few weeks back where there was a Courier headline every week.

  15. Tbf it feels like we’ve had our fair share of roasters in our support try and do good for the club then f**k off in a rage when they aren’t allowed special treatment. Certainly more than the average. Mind the footgolf w**k that went in the huff? Ended up having an argument with Lachlan on Twitter after an Ayrshire derby where he was told to f**k off by the big man.

  20. Firstly berwick the unbeatable is a troll and his points are not informed and are aimed at replys which I have given. Its also personal which I find dis tasteful. I apologise to the core group of fans who perhaps didnt like my reply. Its my intention to come on here only to update key supporters and I find myself having to unfortunately being now likely taking a step back from posting and updating fans. Its difficult to keep fans up to speed unless they wish to attend meetings which I know a hell of a lot of people cannot. 1 1milliion percent can take criticism of certain things but i see posts previously which are simply not true which Is why I would then post to tell the truth. We were not relegated due to people stuck in their ways a FACTOR perhaps and a valid opinion. We were relegated due to not winning enough football games. Directors dont pick football teams or players and gave a budget that should never had a team relegated. A lot of progress is being made on and off the pitch currently and i hope the clubs fans can see that.

  21. Yes, if there's one thing to take away from the likes of Kate Forbes, Fergus Ewing, John Mason and Joanna Cherry being elected representatives of the same party as Mhairi Black and Chris Law, it's that this party allows no dissent or plurality where everyone is forced to adopt the narrative of the leadership on every issue. You only have to look at how everyone who openly flirted with support for Alba was expelled on the spot rather than every single one of them being allowed to leave of their own accord. Some are even still there as they decided they didn't fancy jumping to Alba after all once they were trounced by the electorate. There's no other major party in the UK that has such a wide range of views on either economic or social issues among its parliamentarians as the SNP. The only one that even comes close is Labour at Westminster, and that's a relatively tiny number of left-wingers who the leadership are actively trying to purge. If anything it's a lack of discipline through desperation to maintain the 'broad church' approach that's brought the SNP to this point, not a leadership ruling with an iron fist.

  22. Today was my final session of radiotherapy on my leg. Only downside is that in the last week a couple of blisters have appeared (this wasn't unexpected and no cause for alarm) so they will need the dressing changed daily, for the next week or two. But at least to begin with this will be done at my doctor's surgery which is within walking distance; no need to get up at the crack of dawn (lovely girl) and get the bus out to the hospital.

  24. That’s not an old leadership analogy that was ever applied to WWI. You’re thinking of “lions led by donkeys”. Or perhaps not. Perhaps you are actually thinking of “donkeys led by asses”. I wonder where that came from? I can only find it having been coined in the context of pallet-burning, swivel-eyed UK nationalism by Northern Ireland’s own David Vance (once banned from Twitter for sending “hateful” content to Marcus Rashford). You really can’t help yourself, can you? https://m.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/a-case-of-donkeys-led-by-asses/28143711.html

  32. Aye, looking at it in those terms, I could see why an outsider would think things haven't been too bad; I was talking specifically about player recruitment, where there's been clear gaps that any casual observer could see that haven't been filled. This season, the lack of a striker(after punting Watt and Clark), a defensive mid and a mobile right-sided centre-back have largely been our undoing(along with the goalkeeping debacle, presumably down to poor or non-existent scouting before we signed the Biro). Last season, we would line up against bigger teams with both Fuchs and Butcher in the middle, the difference has been night-and-day with our current centre-mids, and it's dragged down the likes of Levitt due to how wildly imbalanced the team is.

  33. I didnt mind Ogren. Seemed like an alright guy. And i really want to like him. But that interview has pissed me off. The biggest issue is he's being too loyal to Asghar and Fox here and that's going to be what kills any good will he had with fans. The football hasn't improved since promotion. It's gotten worse. We're most likely going to finish bottom (or 11th if we're lucky) unless something changes. I dont care what anyone says, the playing side is the most important thing to a football club. Win games, fans happy, fans spend more money. Players sold. You can scoop it up. Please don't sit there and say "it's easy to bury our head in the sand" then say you're not going to make any changes to any staff while also saying there's no one more disappointed than you. Because there are clearly thousands of fans far more upset than you. You are burying your head in the sand by not acting and making changes, backing a guy who's built this wildly unbalanced team that's rooted to the bottom and picked managers who've failed. Thousands of people are spending cash during a cost of living crisis to travel around the county to watch a goalie that can't kick a ball or fall in the general direction of a football, a defence that can't stop crosses or pass forwards, a midfield that's like a seive etc etc All constructed by two blokes you're backing. If Fox goes, then Tony picks the next guy. He's picked the last f**k knows how many managers who've either been shite, bailed at the first chance or both. Faith in him has gone (I've never had much, if any, in him). We're broadly just fed up at this point and we're looking to you as the boss to change things. Please don't ask us to blindly support and cheer on a team of highly paid professionals that have consistently failed to do the basics of their job. Don't ask us to cheer on a team that were so bad people accused them of downing tools for a manager when fans were paying to watch. Dont ask us to back a manager that clearly has no idea how to change a game. Don't ask us to chuck money at a sinking ship when you aren't anymore. It's insulting. Sorry, a bit of an incoherent ramble folks but while I appreciate him taking time to speak to fans, that's a Mark Birighitti of a video and I'm just fucking done now.
