  3. I hope Forbes is following all teachings of the bible as stringently. Slavery, stoning people to death, not eating shellfish, not wearing clothes of two different materials etc. No? Thought not, she's just using her religion to justify her bigotry. People like her should be nowhere near the levers of power.

  4. Was my mum's funeral this morning. I'm absolutely knackered. Didn't get much sleep last night but that was mainly due to the shite pillows my older brother and his wife provided! Well they weren't actually shite, just not ones I like/use. Was worried how the funeral was but was over really quickly. Did a wee reading of something I wrote and was glad I was able to do it. When we were walking behind her coffin going in to the crematorium I had the thought that I was looking at a stark dose of reality. Was all a bit surreal this morning getting in the fancy big car to ride behind the hearse and walking past everyone to the front row when we got to the crematorium. Thought the old curtain close was going to be rough but I was ok. The photo montage to music got a few folk but mostly there were chuckles, as we'd picked some amusing ones to go with the nice ones. Having a wee laugh at some of the silly ones helped. Thankfully the funeral went well (you know what I mean) and was really nice to see loads of family. Insert the usual cliche about funerals and weddings. Glad I decided not to drink today. Plenty of beers and other stuff was had after. No judging those who did, but I can get emotional when drinking if I'm not careful/have heightened emotions. Pleased that it's all done with now (the funeral I mean; we're getting a headstone and burying her ashes in the cemetery in the village she lived in/my dad lives in, but that won't be for a bit yet). A little worried that things might suddenly 'catch up with me' at some point over the next few days/week, but I think I'm going to be ok.

  5. Quite simply, both Forbes, and arsehole Dave down the pub, believe that sexual orientation is a perfectly valid grounds for subjecting someone to negative, exclusionary discrimination, and they would both, in an entirely free vote, enshrine that in law. It's fine for Forbes to hide behind 'oh but it's law and I won't roll it back', but if the vote was hers and hers alone she would have legally forbade same-sex marriage, as no doubt Dave would have also. The fact one is religious, and one is just a poorly educated, low IQ moron is neither here nor there. They both believe in the same thing, they are both equally as unpalatable, and they are both completely out of touch with modern society. Arsehole Dave wouldn't have prominent politicians running to his defence and claiming people who vocally disagree with him are bullying him because of sinister motivations, a la Regan re Forbes, so why the f**k they think Forbes should receive a free pass 'because religion' is both incomprehensible and indefensible. You don't cease to be a bigot just because your bigoted views are rooted in your religious faith. Dave doesn't give reasons or excuses for his homophobic hate, because nobody would be particularly interested anyway, but even if he did put some argument forward nobody would just go 'ah, well you have your reasons, so that makes it ok', which is exactly what Forbes' defenders are attempting to do by highlighting the fact she's an adherent of a specific faith. I haven't seen one single example of someone criticising her today where they have criticised her faith or religion rather than her actual view on same-sex marriage and reproductive rights, so to contend people are attacking her because of her faith or religion is palpably nonsensical. She is being attacked because of her views, the exact same way that it's Arsehole Dave's views, and not the basis for them, that people find repellent.

  6. Absolutely stunned by this news, like many I thought the announcement was simply him stepping back from his quite public presence at Hibs to fight the illness. I never really know what to say at moments like this, perhaps best to say nothing at all then, but I've got some reflections. I remember him sitting down with various podcasts about Hibs in the last year or so, even when things were bad for the club. He didn't have to do this of-course, but he genuinely seemed to want to reach out and understand the views of the fans, even when those views were at the time mixed to put it politely. To do all this in good humour at a time of extreme personal difficulty for himself is as others have said a mark of the man. I also remember the day when he bought the club, the pictures with him, Leanne, Rod and Sir Tom Farmer holding scarves aloft and talking brightly about the future. Since then he threw himself into things, and the more time goes on it seems he did actually get the big calls right, even if they're only starting to bear fruit now. I think each of us has their own experience with this disease affecting the people we hold dear or even ourselves, the moment it's first talked about I remember vividly, your world changes. My thoughts are obviously with his family and friends, particularly with his children as to my mind nothing compares to the pain. I hope this isn't in bad taste but I was introduced to this song on the big screens Ron installed. It was played as a backing track to pictures of members of the Hibs community that sadly passed away during Covid, it made me greet at the time and I may well do the same now. RIP Ron, you'll be remembered, you'll be missed.

  7. Spoke well without giving away any massive secrets. Thinks squad he inherited is imbalanced, with not enough wingers for instance. Too reliant on Ruari for goalscoring. Saturday was lost due to a crazy 15 mins or so but the performance wasn't good enough regardless and won't be accepted. There's a right way to lose, giving everything like at Hamilton, and an unacceptable way like at Kelty. Working on fitness, checking what players are up to away from club too, 60% of them failed a hydration test on Monday. There is talent in the squad but some of them need educated how to give themselves the best chance in the game. Lee Connelly not fit enough yet since returning to training but will be involved for Reserves today v Livingston. Biggest managerial influences: Eddie Howe who he speaks to several times a week, Sean Dyche, Paul Heckingbottom. Pathway available for young players to 1st team if they seize it. Not bothered about reputations or what players have done in the past, or may do in the future, only interested in what they can do now. Sorry he hasn't been able to get Dom McMahon on the pitch yet in 1st team. Had planned to at Peterhead but we only had one sub left by time game was safe and then Easty went down with cramp. rjc will be delighted to know he agrees Lewis Gibson's strengths lie in attacking not defending and he also thinks he's played too much football for a 17 year old and will try to rotate him a bit more. He's not strong enough to compete with a lot of senior players. Won't accept top 4 is impossible until it actually is and won't be sending teams out to draw games. Will be looking to beat Dunfermline Saturday like everyone else in the league when we play them. Turned down other management jobs before Queens. Felt we were a good fit for what he wants to do in the game.

  8. Thanks guys. Not going to lie, I broke down as soon as I stopped talking. Hilly watched as soon as it was out every week & he’d have wanted us to do it this week, but was bloody hard. COYB

  9. Thank f**k we haven't had to put up with Falkirk fans in such a long time. They have a really bitter, obsessive nature about them. And yet amongst all the stone throwing from their glass house, Leigh Griffiths just comes along and smashes it up. Stay doon Bairns.

  17. Oxgangs Trinity 0-8 Broomhall FC @ Colinton Mains Park . LEAFA Sunday Morning Championship. 10.30pm Kick-off. The 2nd placed visitors with 4 goals in each half secure a convincing win. Fair play to Oxgangs though who battled hard against a strong side. Crowd 13.

  18. It’s a bit rich of Rangers fans to have an issue with their players standing back and letting the other team score when 100% of them stood back and let the old club die.

  19. Teams shouldnt be putting the ball out for an injured player in the first place. Let the ref stop it if he thinks its a head knock or a serious injury. Other than that play on and we dont end up with these situations. On this incident though, it was the right thing for Rangers to do and would like to think Thistle would do the same. But it is fucking hilarious that some mutants are raging about one of the only decent acts their horrible little club has ever done.

  27. Nice wee goal after Craig Wighton set up GGH to unleash McGowan. Boy loves a wind-up - expect this against Falkirk: But if it's not going well, can always rely on him to dish out the telts:

  31. Another addition to the endless list of shameless grifters preying on this family's tragedy for their own personal gain. It all gets him a bit more publicity for his next psychic floorshow down the Dog and Duck though, where he can contact your dead nan to confirm she's at peace and you don't have to worry about her, as well as her assurance from beyond the grave that your current troubles are coming to an end and everything is going to be rosy very soon. The Phoenix Nights scene perfectly portrays the absurdity of these ghouls. Absolutely parasitic scum preying on the vulnerable and insecure. I'm astounded at the number of folk who, in this day and age, still give these cnuts the time of day never mind their hard earned money. Cashing in on a tragedy like this is beyond the pale though. Arsehole.

  39. So much of it, Burley being a horrible horrible scumbag, talking head of ill informed former/shamed/couldnt hack it/lying about their qualifications ‘experts’. Endless speculation. Said before, one day, and it will absolutely happen, her kids will look back at the news of today, of what was said on twitter, the lies, the unnecessary shite and be equally traumatised by that. I welcome vetting and corrupt police officers being prosecuted, ive contributed to that, but how many journalists will change their practice in a sense of realisation? How many of these ‘citizen journalists’ or ‘search experts’ will change a fucking thing. They wont, they’ll wait for the ‘next’ big thing and another family will go through the same thing, but these crayon munchers dont have the self realisation or maybe they do and their just fucking evil.

  40. Not to cynical, but why not a “none” option. I suspect an increasingly large percentage of the population either get their news from online aggregators or family and friends rather than a traditional paper. Also, does reading the electronic version count?
