  1. You are a massive c**t. Stop saying you are sticking up for women and children. As a woman you can f**k off.

  2. Hard to convey how gutted I am by this news. It very much feels like the kick in the stones after 2014. I firmly believed that if there was one politician that could lead this country to independence, it was Nicola Sturgeon. Every other politician is either too thick, too entrenched or will get caught in the weeds to have a chance. This is an absolute body blow to the SNP but more importantly, Scotland. Absolutely gutted that we've lost the most competent politician in the UK. We were lucky to have her as a leader. My only hope is that she doesn't start fucking destroying her great reputation ala Alex Salmond did before her.

  4. 2 observations Sturgeon is a top class politician. The standard of what we now refer to as Journalism is hilariously bad.

  5. Some of the personal abuse and outright vitriol Sturgeon has had to endure, especially recently from terminally online bigots, has been disgusting. I wouldn't blame her at all if it turns out that she has just had enough.

  6. If I was on record admitting I used to get my parents to ply young lassies with drink for me I would simply be quiet on the subject of fantasists, deviants and dangers to women tbqfh.

  7. A girl has just been killed and as one final act of transphobia the British state will force her to be registered as a boy for the funeral paperwork. Could you have some decency and realise this isn't the time nor the place for vitriolic pish.

  8. Independence is not about who leads the SNP. The reality is that the young are overwhelmingly in support of this as a principle. With each passing year, that goal is closer to reality. The right wing press, fawning Royalists, The BBC et al, have no appeal to young Scots. Nicola Sturgeon has been the stand out politician of the last 10 years on these islands and the vitriolic hatred she endured only proves the point.

  9. Thank you again to everyone who has taken the time to respond to my issues over the weekend, I really appreciate the insight. I’ve really not been able to speak to anyone about this as anyone I would confide in my wife knows and I know she’s really embarrassed and resistant to sharing her issues so I’ve just kept it in. We had what I hope is a turning point on Monday. She looked after my daughter alone on Monday while I worked (she’s ill and we’re taking it day about to take time off work). Anyway she had an absolutely horrendous day, didn’t cope well at all and had all the bad things that have happened over 2 years come at once. Horrible for her yes but when I got home from work it was like she had woken up from everything. She had already called the GP, she had a phone appointment yesterday and has been prescribed some pills. She’s getting therapy and seeing the mental health nurse next week. It sounds horrible because she was a bit broken on Monday night, but it was like the woman I knew was back, albeit in a very weak state. But she was saying ‘this isn’t me, I don’t want to be like this’ which was really encouraging for me. Hopefully not a false dawn but as long as she’s in a place where she’s willing to fight it then I’m up for it too.

  10. Being SNP leader is pretty much the hardest major job in UK politics. It's like being a Hearts supporter on Hibs.net every day. Everybody you deal with in public, all the major political parties, all the major media outlets, fundamentally oppose what you stand for and will almost never give you a fair hearing. You have to be patient, you have to be engaging, you have to be very calm under provocation, you need an excellent command of your brief and able to get your message across while everyone around you is screaming noise at you, and you need to accept that any errors you make will be rounded on by the whole gang and amplified. In short, it's an incredibly difficult job that requires a huge amount of skill and a certain type of personality. Scotland has been very fortunate that in Salmond and Sturgeon we've had more than a generation of excellent leaders who have done a frankly incredible job for the SNP and the Yes movement between them. I don't see anyone with remotely the level of ability required to carry on their work. Pains me to say it, but this is a massive blow to the independence movement that will set things back years. Whichever of the major candidates gets the job next will be well off the level. It takes a very special candidate to do it.

  14. It seems that Sturgeon's final act as leader may have been to inspire some P & B members who never normally come near these political forums to demonstrate that unique brand of Scottish self-loathing.

  29. The reaction of the UK media right now tells us exactly how powerfully regarded a figure Nicola Sturgeon has been, and we can expect a flood of hypocritical nonsense over the coming days. The Queen is dead, long live the Queen. But any unionists inclined to pronounce today as the death of the Scottish Independence movement would do well to resist that urge. I'd like to think that the movement is stronger than that, and in any event it is broader, much broader than the SNP.

  31. Ignoring the result, I thought we showed a bit of streetwise-ness(?) and game management tonight that has been completely missing over the last few months - things like Butcher’s cynical foul, Casey and Butcher getting in the referees ear on plenty of occasions, and Kelly’s time wasting. We’ll need every trick in the book to get out this mess so glad to see we at least have it in the locker.

  34. Well your argument was Kennedy could take over any League 1 side and win the league, not that Darvel would win it. Do you think he could manage the current Clyde side to a league win? Kennedy and Darvel are spending money others can't dream of even if you boys want to kid on it's the scenic Ayrshire coast that is bringing them there and they've already failed to go up once. The guy is an imposter. Great connections in the game? He's a nobody who is playing real life Football Manager.

  40. Haven't thought much of Sturgeon for a while but I don't think many would fancy keeping going when Scotland and UK's disgusting political press, liberal commentariat and dinner party set decide it's your turn for a good monstering. She was never one of the lads anyway so fair play to her for keeping them off her back that long.

  42. Some of this reminds me of an international Scout camp in Kenya back in the 90s. Rather than have fancy chemical portaloos, they'd just dig a deep hole in the ground with the spoil heap left beside it, place a wooden toilet seat over it to form a temporary latrine, and then fill it all back in with the spoil at the end of the camp. Trouble is, when they took the wooden setup away, they never filled the hole up immediately. Instead, they covered it with a plastic sheet, accompanied by a warning sign saying to stay away. Slight issue with that was that not every young attendee could read English yet, particularly one French lad that walked across this sheet. I know very little French, but following that little incident, I still remember that their call for help is "au secours!". Like many Scottish kids, we knew "merde" well in advance, which was evidently far more useful than "how do you get to the library", and is a decent argument for getting the most popular swearies on the school curriculum. What sort of utter weirdo goes to a library on holiday anyway?

  46. Nah, we'll just carry on spending next season, we won't pay our creditors, maybe try a CVA, maybe not, probably flirt with administration, and when the dust settles we won't suffer any real punishment, not even relegation. It's been done before by some Lanarkshire mob.
