  1. Quite enjoying that even @capt_oats is melting down atm. Do you see what you've done, Motherwell?

  4. Seeing a clip of the red in slow motion the only question that might cast doubt on it being a clear red is whether slow motion is making it look much worse by making it look more deliberate action than it is, ie has his elbow just caught Dunne through a natural movement rather than intentionally elbowing him. Watching it back in real time removes any doubt. The elbow is obviously thrown at the face deliberately, there is no argument against that being violent conduct. The only person Aberdeen fans should be annoyed at there is McCrorie for being so stupid.

  6. Dunne was probably too busy checking face wasn't broken. Only came on here as an article came up about pundits disagreeing with the decision last night. Knew it was a red before I even watched it as Michael Stewart said it wasn't: "I can see why he's given it, but that's not a red for me". Makes sense. Given that weapon loves to disagree with everyone it's no surprise to see it's a clear red. Surprised so many folk on here agreeing with that fanny mind you.

  7. The club has 9 signed players for next season which I would hope we can add too before the end of this season. Recruitment never stops really and the process of improving the squad short medium and long term continues. There is good processes in place now and targets already identified for next season should the budget allow and targets for if the budget is x y or z... Never again should the club be in a position to sign 20 to 22 players with no processes in place. Building relationships with clubs currently for loans for next season and beyond also. Let's hope the team can get 3 points on Saturday and extend the recent positive results and performances.

  8. Carlisle United 5-1 Barrow @ Brunton Park . Sky Bet League 2. A brilliant night under the lights. A tight first half ended with on form United breaking the deadlock . They ran riot in the 2nd half to win big in the Cumbrian Classico and move into 3rd place. Crowd 9351.

  11. Aye. I'm no Barry Maguire stan but we loaned him out and haven't bothered replacing him. Like, what the actual f**k? If we're playing with two midfielders in the 4231 that the squad seems to have been built for now then we have 3 players for those two roles. Given the extent to which Hammell was constantly having to point to our lack of depth in the first half of the season that is fucking mind blowing. Also, to that point. See when he was going on about how much of a problem our injury situation was then. Did no one think to tell him we could still fucking sign free agents? Like we didn't *have* to be running the same 14 players into the ground? Again, that was a fucking *choice* he made.

  12. Thoroughly enjoyed the performance from start to finish last night. Other than the totally needless penalty that we gave away it was a perfect performance from every single player including the subs. How many times have we seen us fail to capitalise on numerical advantages over the years? It was brilliant to see us absolutely nail the game plan against the ten men, we absolutely battered them. Fantastic to see both Dec and Maino getting goals up there but what I really liked was the reaction when VAR confirmed the third goal. Every single player straight over to the bench to celebrate with the manager and the rest of the squad. The togetherness on the pitch with this squad, the management and the supporters is like something I've not seen since the Millennium Champions team. These good times typically don't last too long at clubs our size so drink it all in and enjoy it, because it is absolutely fucking glorious.

  14. I felt Hammell deserved the window to fix things but based on last night, we’ve absolutely fucked it. First game after the window shut and we finish the first half with a back 4 comprising of 3 right backs and Ricki Lamie(now our only fit centre back) still being ‘protected’ by Goss/Slattery. What a state to get yourself into. We’ve known we needed a midfielder to protect the defence, we signed nobody- despite supposedly trying to sign Fuchs on deadline day!? We’ve known for over a month Penney was away, we’ve waited till deadline day to sign a 20 year old kid with practically no first team experience who’s now our only ‘senior’ left back. The one genuine player we seemed to invest in was Danzaki. Who based on last night looks like a technical and hard working but extremely lightweight no 10. Which is basically just Ross Tierney. I know January is difficult but clubs like us live and die by our recruitment and I make that our third poor window in a row. Last night felt like proper end of days stuff- even the booing was half hearted at the end, it was almost like acceptance. I don’t think they’ll bin Hammell(yet). Last night was the first time post match though where he essentially hasn’t protected the players and basically called them out. Which is generally the last throw of the dice from a desperate manager out of ideas. How they react on Saturday I suspect will seal Hammell’s fate. Unfortunately it’s hard to see him getting any sort of reaction from that shower.

  18. Fair or unfair, we’ve got to be on top of the rules. It’s basic stuff. We’re a professional football club now, so there’s absolutely no excuse for it. There should be all sorts of procedures before every single game, checks and double checks, on things like suspensions and registrations. It’s down to the Chief Executive to make sure that the football club is functioning from the top down. Outsiders will think “top of the Championship and still greeting”, those who know better will see a building site, a probable Scottish Cup exit due to an admin error, and home games being played 25/30miles away being changed at relatively short notice. We are not a properly functioning football club and that’s totally unacceptable when there’s someone being paid big bucks to ensure that that’s what we are.

  21. I'm worried that if the League go back through all our games this season it's going to turn out that there's been a counting mistake and we don't actually have 20 points. Where did they all come from?

  22. Quick check of the premiership table after tonights results and it would appear that Aberdeens run of form has been that bad, they have been banished from the league. Harsh but fair.

  23. Don't they know what it means to play for a team like Sportsound?? Ah tell ye, Sportsound should be one of the leading Scottish football programs and look at the state of them. They should get Richard Gordon in to shout at them about the responsibility they have taken on at this historic institution which used to be good in the 80s! Their performances this season have been chaotic - and yes, embarrassing! No organisation or formation under MacIntyre, no basic competence to play their positions and do their jobs (i.e., describe the action and tell listeners who has scored); it's like they don't know what they are doing when they are supposed to be pros. As for the lazy foreigners like Pat Bonner who can't even be bothered to learn the names of non-Celtic players... I'd clear the lot of them out, from the producers down to all the reporters (especially Biscuits, and except for Kris Doolan).

  24. This makes zero sense. Why would getting beat off a team that are favourites be humiliating? You need to pick one or the other and try again.

  28. It's going to be a big few weeks coming up! Hibs and County at home, Saintees and Well away in the league, Celtic away in the cup. Never want to write off Saints off these days, but I think beating Celtic at Parkhead in the cup is probably beyond us at this stage unless Celtic have a meltdown, we play well above ourselves and we get a friendly ref, but what an opportunity that run of league games is. In recent seasons that Feb run of "winnable" games has been our downfall as we haven't won them, hopefully this time is different. Honestly think we should be aiming for 8-10 points at a minimum, though all of Hibs, County and Saintees looking a bit better at the moment. I really like watching this team as well. Nobody hides. they work hard and they seem ready to look after each other as well. Even the guys on the bench seem happy and motivated and that's a great credit to Robinson. There is just enough of a chip on the shoulder as well, few guys with something to prove and obviously relishing the chance to do so. Long may it continue!

  31. I'm usually quite optimistic about Scottish football and will defend the diddy clubs at any opportunity. However, the standard of player has been in steady decline for years and I'm now utterly despondent about the whole situation, I don't see how it changes. 15 years ago, off the back of the Malpas season we were still managing to sign players like Chris Porter from Oldham who had scored 22 goals in League One the season prior. Our very own Steven Hammell who had made 47 appearances for Championship Southend the season before. Plenty other examples. Now we're loaning out of favour players from bottom of League 2 Gillingham. We really are scraping the very bottom of the barrel. It's absolutely desperate stuff and we're still being skinned £25 for the privilege. The worst part is, there's a couple of other teams that are just as bad as us, the right man would have a fighting chance of keeping this band of jobbers in the division which is a sorry reflection of the rest of the league. The gap between the two mediocre bigot brothers and the rest is wider than ever. Hearts look the best of the rest by a fair distance but are still as close to 12th place as they are to The Rangers* in 2nd and a country mile behind Celtic. Scottish football is paying the price for pandering to TV companies and doctoring it's whole structure to allow for six bigot derby games a year, now seen by outsiders as nothing more than a freakshow curiosity. It's such a frequent fixture and there's so much football on TV that it's lost any relevancy outside of their own support. I know it's hard to be optimistic, or muster much enthusiasm after last night but I'm past giving a f**k if we get relegated. We've played the same teams four times a season since what feels like the beginning of time. Goss, Slattery, Van Veen and any of the other pea hearted big time c***s can f**k off and find their level in the middle of the Conference North.

  35. You should simply sack Hammell tomorrow, appoint Goodwin before the weekend, and then turn up to Pittodrie on Saturday and claim your three points in the most hilarious possible circumstances.

  36. Anyone working on Sportsound has a cheek berating Aberdeen's players for lacking professional pride. Most of the pundits have had the gig for years but the quality on the show is beyond laughable and only getting worse.

  41. Would agree with lots of this. The atmosphere in the away end last night was as sour and toxic as I can remember. Every single mistake, regardless of how innocuous, got hounded on by, what wasn't far removed from, a baying mob. Fairly sure a significant percentage of our fans revel in getting on the players' backs like that. As far as I can see our we're hamstrung by finances and we'll just need to go with what we've got. Ogren wouldn't appear to be returning to the well to dish out more cash to finance more sackings, more appointments, more signings (When a gambler has a bad afternoon in the bookies, the sensible thing to do is cut his losses and leave it at that, rather than eye up the 20/1 shot in the last that he likes the look of). None of this excuses last night as the players and manager were awful having looked pretty decent since the WC, but they look so brittle and lacking in confidence I'm not sure what constant berating of them actually achieves.

  42. In my experience (and I've worked with a lot of them) football managers have absolutely no idea what many of the rules are. Why should they? It's not their job to study the rulebooks. I'd be genuinely surprised if any of our former managers knew a player had to be signed before the original date of the tie to be eligible. It's the job of the Club Secretary or someone else at the club taking on that responsibility to let them know who is eligible to play in the tie and who isn't. To be honest it's a very easy thing to overlook with everything else going on. I've sympathy for them, but it won't save them. They'll be chucked out.
