  1. This is not just a transfer window. It's an M & S transfer window.

  2. People keep saying they are protecting women's rights. As a woman I have absolutely no issue with those who have changed their gender wanting to access toilets or whatever space they feel is appropriate to them. Sexual predators can get into these spaces no matter what. In regards to Isla Bryson, she has been risk assessed and deemed to not be suitable to be in a female prison. This has absolutely nothing to do with the bill that was passed in Parliament. Like all prisoners are risk assessed and moved to the most appropriate place for them and their fellow prisoners.

  7. Its ironic that some fans are arguing for B teams as a way of improving our game for the better. Those same fans will be only too eager to tell you that they can't wait for the day that they can abandon our league and can chase the money in whatever league will have them. I don't buy the argument that B teams improve football. The case for B teams usually offered by old firm fans is to point at Spain and Holland and to say that the existence of Barcelona B and Jong Ajax is proof that B teams deliver a regular comveyor belt of talent. But that ignores countries where B teams aren't a feature in league football but where youth development is streets ahead of Scotland. It ignores countries like Germany. The 2nd string teams from Dortmund, Munich and other big German sides are usually found struggling in 3.liga or playing regional tier 4 league football. The Italians don't have B teams littered throughout Serie B and Serie C. It's almost as if the existence of B teams isnt the determining factor in whether or not a country produces quality footballers and that its instead due to everything that happens from the moment that kids first play football right through to a league club being willing to take the chance on giving them first team involvement. B Teams work in some countries because they're the last stage of years of excellent youth development. In other countries you see youngsters getting meaningful first team action. At Rangers and Celtic you see a succession of kids who can't be trusted by OF managers to play in league or cup competitions ahead of perma-crocked bench fillers who still draw thousands of pounds per week in wages. How many young footballers leave Rangers or Celtic at the end of their youth careers and go on to make a meaningful impact in the game? Where are the young players making meaningful contributions at top flight clubs outside of the old firm? If we want to talk about improving Scottish football then lets talk properly about league reconstruction and about a better distribution of finances. Lets talk about the madness that is playing the same team 4 times a year on league duty and potentially another 3 times in cup competitions. Lets talk about clubs making sustainable investment in facilities. Or about teams that are committed to keeping football accessible as a sport to be played and as a spectacle to be followed in person on a Saturday afternoon. Would Rangers and Celtic be willing to give up the lions share of their domestic SPFL and SFA prize money if it meant that other sides could afford to run youth development systems? Would top flight chairmen be willing to surrender a capacity crowd game against the old firm to expand the size of our leagues and to give fans more variety across the course of a season? I won't be holding my breath waiting for any of that to happen.

  8. Seems a very strange match until you consider the opportunity to list some of their songs on the back. RIP It's A Long Way To The Top Borrowed Time Breaking The Rules... Spoiled for choice!

  9. Born in Glasgow. Brought up as a Celtic fan. Abandoned them for the navy blue as soon as I was old enough to see sense. FTOF.

  10. Baccus hasn't even been bad. He was good against Aberdeen, Livi and was probably the best player on the pitch against Killie. He was also fine against Hearts at SMP. This "dip in form" is basically a defeat away to Celtic and a bit of a shite performance against Dundee where the whole team were rotten.

  11. Jeggo AND Arfield? Sure why not sign Russell Howard too and the three of them can play in midfield together.

  12. Lots to like about tonight but most pleased about Brydens goal. Not sure I’ve ever wanted an Ayr player to succeed more.

  13. Wee man here over the moon his star player Bryden scored a screamer! Had to correct his fan chants though... Let's go Rob a Tesco! Let's go Rob a Tesco! Fantastic tonight. Any new players would have to be world beaters to fit in this team

  14. Seems an entirely reasonable response to me. Don't make sweeping decisions that discriminate against all trans people, do protect women if a trans person is an actual rapist. Not sure how anyone could moan about that or suggest that Sturgeon was "flailing" based on her making the correct decision.

  15. Glad they are receiving their rightful punishment for giving Hartley another job in football and ruining my Saturday last week. No excuses now for not beating them on Tuesday. Mullin has been our best player for about two months now and it’s imperative we keep him on. Sure that will do a lot of good for the confidence of some of the fringe players tonight who will be very important over the next stretch. Again, there are not 4 teams better than us in this league and at our best I’m not even sure there is 1.

  19. Wow, what a horrific thing to say. Bryson is a rapist not a convenient opportunity along at the right time to make Sturgeon look silly. You do realise there were victims who's lives have been ruined because of Bryson?

  20. Lawal signed a one year deal with an explicit option to extend. He's shown more than enough to be kept around - he's by no means the finished article (he wouldn't be with us if he was), but he's one I'd definitely keep. I agree, I'd also be offering Burrell a new deal too, considering he was only on a one year contract.

  21. Everyone will have their own views on the ins and outs of this window however what cannot be disputed is that McGlynn has made us a far better team with a far better squad than we had 12 months ago. I am one very content Bairn.

  26. Just got the result of my 6 monthly PSA test, 0.3 which hasn't changed since chemo and hormone injections got it down from 145 in 2020. Just a 6 monthly test and hormone jag from now on. The jag is to suppress testosterone production which the prostate cancer feeds on, haven't grown tits yet but I do get the odd hot flush which can be handy for watching Highland League football in the winter.

  28. I'd agree that we were quite lucky to keep Fox and if we don't go up, he'll leave. He'll certainly go with my blessing but, of course, I'd hate to see him go. It was a leap of faith for him to come up here and I'm sure he's luvvin' it. He's been quite outstanding. Going up now seems an absolute must to keep the likes of him and, possibly but not certainly, Murray. Is it too soon for us to go up? And I can't believe I'm actually thinking about it seriously..... If not, then when would be the right time? It's like asking the best looking girl at school out; probably a disaster, but potentially the best thing you ever did. As for Lesser, it was never, ever going to be a venue fit for the top flight, so we can discount it. Even if the thing was up and working right now, we'd be looking elsewhere to accommodate 30k plus crowds should we go up. If we have access to our old home, massive crowds on a semi regular basis are possible and, all of a sudden, what is happening becomes, I would argue, a baw hair off being sustainable. All supposition and what if. Let's get the Dismal Dees done over first.

  38. I don't know where people are reading/hearing folk still talking about DG saga other than on here. I never hear folk mentioning it at games or in the streets, I've got a lot of non Raith Rovers supporting pals who are all into football and they never mention it. A quick swatch at our Twitter and we don't really have people wading in to stick the boot in. Away fans aren't giving it to us tight during games. Vals clearly gotten bored of harping on about it. If there's folk still staying away because of it this must equate to a very small minority - it certainly doesn't feel like there's been a massive reduction/impact on our crowds anyway. I have no idea what the uptake is with hospitality these days but money is tight for a lot of people at the moment, whilst the DG situation probably had some effect (at the time) to assume that's the main factor at this present moment I don't think that's quite the case.

  39. It’s not essential for the well-being of our club to be promoted this season. We also don’t have several thousand expectant fans in a league without too many equivalent competitors. We don’t need a result tomorrow and the bookies don’t expect us to get one either. We’re just enjoying some unexpected mayhem. If it continues, then great. Most would have settled for dull mid-table before a ball was kicked.

  42. I'd be massively disappointed if that turns out to be the case. Fair enough, he struggled for game time for the first few months, but, when finally given his opportunity, he showed exactly what he was about, able to pick up the ball in midfield and drive right at the heart of a defence. Capable of scoring as few as well. Really like him and I would not be discarding him so prematurely. Injuries, suspension, loss of form - we'll need a squad if we are to get to where we want to go. In all honesty, I'd want him back to fitness and available for selection as soon as possible. Can never have enough options. To that end, if's there's one further bit of business to be done it's surely got to be holding onto Kennedy for the remainder of the season. For all that today's business is incredibly promising - on paper - losing Kennedy would be a real blow. Probably would not have been saying that eight weeks ago, but much improved now.

  44. I stood on the terracing along the pitch and found it strange compared to my normal watching experience up the back of the Cooper. We were so close to the pitch you could just about hear the cogs in Callum Slattery's brain turning as he looked at the Arbroath player on the touchline at the halfway line, looked around, thought there's no danger and then thought "ah f*** it, I'll do him anyway". Cue one Arbroath player in a crumpled heap and one needless booking for Slattery.

  47. Since joining this thread i've managed a week without eating shite (crisps, cakes, biscuits, sweets). It's not been very hard tbh but i have found myself on autopilot foraging in cupboards a couple of times, and was in a meeting room at work and went for the biscuits automatically. Just needed a bit of attention. Still to come, reducing portion sizes and getting more exercise. Good luck fellow fatties.
