  1. Is the discussion this morning positivity at winning 4 on the trot for the first time in an age, or the fact that Burrell came of the bench and scored the winner, is it the fact in Morrison and Kennedy we have 2 in form wingers, or is it about the improvement in Brad and Leon under McGlynn ? No. We’ll surely it’s about us being in the last 16 of the cup, or the great support we took yesterday or the fact we look strong contenders to finish in a play off place ? No. Is it f**k, it’s having a go at 2 guys that love Falkirk who follow us up and down the country to provide a service to every Falkirk fan and do it free of charge. YOU COULD NOT FUCKING MAKE IT UP.

  2. Yes. The two part-time media two staff take the kit to and from the games and usually edit the highlights. One of them operates the camera and the other does media stuff like tweeting during the game and putting out the team lineups. Stuart and Lewis do the commenting and most of the technical stuff involved involved in setting the thing up. FFCTV wouldn't be where it is today without the two of them and the humongous amount of hours that they've put in every week for years.

  3. You won't meet a bigger Falkirk fan than wee Lewis. If we were playing a preseason friendly against Mars FC on the moon he'd find a way to get there. He's earned everything he has with the time he's put into this gig. Gaun yersel wee fella.

  4. Have to say criticising the two commentators for a couple of repetitive phrases or offering opinions on their team as we literally sit here and do every week when they are showing up to every game, no matter the distance, offering their media expertise and technical knowledge... For free... to make sure those who can't make it can see the game feels more than harsh. They are fans the same as we are and want to talk about potential changes/improvements the same way everyone on here does (and most fans do). Can only say to them: thanks for the service.

  5. We’re still in the cup, with the revenue it brings 2nd in the league with the title still a real possibility We have a coach who actually knows what he’s doing Close to 4000 each home game, and as alway a healthy away support (something teams in the Premiership would be jealous of) Things behind the scenes are less amateurish, more professional And yet, the complaining continues ”La tristesse durera toujours”

  6. Stuart Mccafferty. I think it's an excellent service, the commentary at times can get annoying but it would't be a simple task trying to remain unbiased whilst watching us play. Also easy to forget how much the FTV boys are giving up in order to put the streams on every week.

  7. Another Scottish Cup run filed straight into the bin. Let's set aside his baggage - I've shared my views on that before - and focus on his record. It's dreadful. The team was mostly garbage for around half of last season. A terrible first 10 games, followed by a good wee run, then an inconsistent run, then an abysmal end to the season chucking the best chance of Europe we'll see for some time. The squad isn't good enough. Dhanda and Iacovitti are maybe the only two I can see deserving of a step-up to a better club. The rest is a collection of guys who should have been binned years ago, faceless jobbers, the instantly forgettable, and "projects" that might have come good under a more progressive manager. But the club went all in on him so I guess that's it. Either this or an untested Don Cowie.

  10. Dundee United v Stirling Uni for me. In with 1000 noisy students in the Jolly Jim Fair Play stand (which means I've now seen games from all 4 sides of Tannadice) I had a good day out, enjoyed the match, Dundee United's bridie wasn't bad and an Arabs player scored with an overhead kick, the posing get. Letting off a flair before the game- a bit naughty...

  13. Rayo Vallecano 0-2 Real Sociedad Beautiful afternoon in Vallecas with La Real seriously impressive in easing to a 2-0 win. Illaramendi and David Silva strolling about the middle of the park and running the show. Was in the middle of a brilliant away support, Rayo fans as good as ever too - fantastic old stadium (despite falling apart) and a great club to visit.

  14. The testimonial committee would like to thank Dave Smith from Aberdeen and all the people who attended the night in Inn on the parks event, attendees were extremely impressed by the guest speakers, The Moff , Lee Bullen and Graeme Mathie ( unfortunately due to the icy conditions Neil Cooper ) was unable to attend due to an accident on way to event , where he slipped on ice on and has potentially broken his ankle ( we wish him well ) Ayr United gained a number of new fans in the North coast tonight , an event where we hoped to raise around £1000 towards Michaels fund , is looking like we trebled that total , massive thank you to all who purchased a ticket , bought an auction prize and who participated in the raffle it is gratefully appreciated, the number of fans from Ayr fans who attended even though the game was called off was unbelievable , can’t thank you enough

  17. Week 3 update Two deaths this week. Up first, Gina Lollabrigida: Gina Lollobrigida obituary | Film | The Guardian It's interesting that none of the obituaries I've read include mention of her stormy relationship with a Scottish guy in 1958. Weird. She died at 95 so she's worth 30 Base Points for @get_the_subbies_on and @sleazy. She also gets a Deadly Duo bonus, and subbies gets a Vice-Captain bonus, so it's 70 and 55 points respectively. =================== Second death, David Crosby: Legendary US musician David Crosby dies aged 81 | David Crosby | The Guardian Outside of that, I have my own history with David. He was a good man and I wouldn't be here without him. David died at 81 so he's worth 44 Base Points for @ICTJohnboy and @peasy23 with a Deadly Duo taking that to 69 each. After that, the standings look like this: 1. buddiepaul 194 2. psv_killie 185 3. JustOneCornetto 181 4. Desp, Ned Nederlander 151 6. 18. Am I correct in thinking that while we have to pay for the FTV service that the co-commentators work on a voluntary, unpaid basis? If that indeed is the case, maybe we should cut them a bit of slack? Or somebody else could always volunteer to do it? Anyway, FTV is the only way that I can see us play for most of the season, unless I am back home for a couple of weeks holiday, so I am extremely grateful that the facility is there, no matter who the commentators are. Before that I was like @Long Suffering Bairn, relying on Sky Sports or the SPFL website for live text updates. As @Bairney The Dinosaur says, there is always the mute button.

  20. 37/42: Peterhead 1-0 Clyde, League One, 21/1/23. Second week running at a wind-affected game, but this one was even more farcical than East Fife last week. A gale blowing in meant that each keeper got a half of taking goal kicks that would get nowhere near the halfway line, and this was the main feature of this game between two of the worst teams in the SPFL. Clyde failed to make enough of having the wind behind them in the first half. Jordan Allan should have scored when one-on-one and then wasn't sharp enough to make the most of a poor passback, but Clyde should have been using the wind more to get shots in from the edge of the area, but were too indecisive. Peterhead used the conditions better when it was their turn in the second half, and won it with what looked like quite a sharp finish from Shanks not long after the break. Clyde should have cleared it, but that's a familiar story. Clyde seemed clueless as to how to play into the wind, and 1-0 seemed inevitable from soon after the goal. Cunningham was unlucky when his deflected effort spun up in the air and past the keeper, but Ritchie was able to get back and catch it as it held up in the wind. That kind of season. So, Clyde remain without a win since August in the league, and slip to the bottom of League One. Grim. Clyde have brought some bodies in this week, and Martin Rennie showed enough in his sub appearance today to suggest he'll be useful. But it's really not looking good.

  21. A tale of two recruitment teams, that match. Hearts have defenders who do their job well, a midfield that digs in and works hard, and a strikeforce that scores goals. Hibs have a terrible defence (and I am increasingly thinking Marshall is not all some think), a cobbled together midfield, and a front line that flatters to deceive. We are about to lose Porteous, and Rocky was cabbaged at the end (either a leg break or ACL). I thought Neilsons comments on the radio post match were sensible, I thought Johnsons were drivel. On fans, we really need to stop people (from both ends) throwing things, its not improved since the Zander Clarke one at Tynie - fannies. Time for wine, I think.................................

  23. The East was virtually wiped out so took the chance to tick off the Synergy Arena for Bonnyton Thistle v Gartcairn in the WOSL div 1. Not been looking forward to this at all but it's better than the average 3G cage and it was a decent game with Gartcairn falling behind early on but recovering to win 3-1. Had a chat with a couple of the Bonnyton committee and surprised they knew more about Whitehill than the average westie.

  29. You have to wonder whether it's time to call a halt to thoughts of playing at Lesser this season and making other arrangements. At least we'd know where we stood. We're in the best position we've been in on the park since the mid 1950s, and we have this nonsense detracting from it.

  30. Just listened to the audio from our Dinosaur manager. Did I hear correctly? "best we could have hoped for was a 0-0 given the conditions? Thats bordering sacking offence on its own, is he saying he was playing for a point? oh what a surprise! Honestly he is the most negative manager ever Certainly not since our last negative manager, what was his name again? Oh aye Jim Effing Duffy!

  35. If Cove did make precautionary measures the club should make a statement to confirm what those measures were. In truth they bottled it. Nothing was done at all. If an unsuccessful effort had been made then no more could have been asked. You will not find one Cove fan who was remotely bothered by the postponement. They are probably hoping for another cold snap to prevent Friday's match going ahead. Volunteers to clear the pitch? Where were they? Pitch covers? Where were they? I would have no gripes about the postponement if an effort had been made.

  36. With Montrose idle I took in this Festival of Incompetence at Balmoor. Firstly, a beautiful day but absolutely Arctic, and it became clear that whoever handled the strong wind blowing up the ground would take the points. Clyde had the wind at their back in the first half and had a couple of good opportunities; both falling to the no. 9. One saw him bearing down on the Peterhead keeper after one or two nice passes but the goalie won the battle; secondly an abysmal sclaff from a Peterhead defender (no.6) played him in but again the forward unable to take advantage. The frustrating thing about the game was that both sides played as though it was a completely calm day. With such a high wind short sharp passing is needed and forget the long ball. Unfortunately both teams, largely, did the opposite. The wind was so strong that the ball quivered whenever it was placed for a corner or free kick; both teams went for the default blooter rather than keeping on the ground and trying to move it quickly. With the game scoreless at half time, it seemed as though pre-match predictions were coming to pass; both teams the mangy curs of Division One scrapping toothlessly over a pointless bone, desperate for the footballing vet to come along with his big needle and put an end to a miserable campaign. The second half was a little better than the near-subterranean bar of the first. What proved to be the winner came after a flurry of corners for Peterhead; the ball bobbled around in the box, the Clyde cludgie unable to clear the blockage, and wee Shanks cheekily back-heeled the ball home from an angle just inside the six yard box, past the sprawling Parry. Huge celebrations from the team and the home support and the goal really gave Peterhead an energy. Shanks was possessed for the next ten minutes, bullying the slothful Clyde no 14 off the ball inside his own half on a few occasions. Big Fosu upfront for the Fishy Jailers is an unguided missle; you never know what to expect from him. He's a limited player but very willing and a trier. He should have has Peterhead further ahead when he met a lovely right wing cross by the penalty spot, but somehow scrambled the header wide. A few minutes afterthere was an almighty scramble in the box and uncertainty from the Clyde keeper as the ball floated and swirled like a balloon at the end of a wind tunnel; somehow the ball stayed out with shots blocked by Clyde defenders. Jim Duffy seemed to regard the game with the indifference of a man at breakfast, thirty years into an unhappy marriage. He looked glum and miserable throughout. Bringing Rennie on for his debut seemed to ginger Clyde up a bit and for the last fifteen minutes they had the lions' sure of the possession and attack. However, watching Clyde trying to attack at present is like watching a drunk try to eat an avocado with a screwdriver. Peterhead's defence was more or less assured in dealing with the visitors' clumsy efforts, with the goalkeeper not having a save of significance to make. It was more nerves and mind games in the home defence that threatened an error. A couple of things to conclude. Firstly a crowd of nearly 700 on a totally freezing day who care enough about the fortunes of two such poor teams is a credit to both and I have to complement a good humoured Clyde support whose persistent chanting for their team was by far the most impressive thing about their club today. Of the two I have more optimism about Peterhead. Yes they are a very limited side who've had a terrible season for one reason and another but there are green shoots there. I thought they defended quite well with big Joshua and Jason Brown having good games at the back. The on loan keeper was decent. I was also quite impressed with young Jack Waddell and Shanks, a livewire confidence striker. Davie Robertson may just get enough of a tune out of this charity shop fiddle to see it in the play offs at the end of the season, a task which looked hugely optimistic when he was appointed a few weeks back. Glad that it's not really my problem where Clyde go from here. What a sorry mess the club is in.

  45. I haven't been that scunnered with a decision since we had a goal reversed sans var against Hamilton 15 years ago They say to cause an upset you need to be at your best and for the opponents to have an off day. Well that's no longer enough. Now they have a new system in place to just invent penalties out of nothing. They say it's the hope that kills you. You expect some resolute defending followed by a sucker punch. You don't even get that any more, it's just a blow of the whistle and a 4 minute delay of the inevitable. Every single person in the ground knows what's coming even though not a single one actually saw an offence, all standing around looking at each other bemused. The game is rigged, what's the fucking point
