  1. Much as this is an open attack on devolution and the Scottish parliament, the more important thing today is that its yet another open attack on transgender people by the UK government. Sad, but completely unsurprising, to see the denial of rights to a marginalised group being enthusiastically cheered on by the usual suspects. The vast majority who will post on here in the coming days about how this is an 'echo chamber' and 'you won't convince people by calling them bigots' aren't in the least bit interested in being convinced or having their views challenged. They won't be able to tell you what the GRA involves. They won't be able to tell you what the current process for legally changing your gender involves. They won't be able to tell you anything about what transitioning or being transgender involves in general. This is a 'debate' being waged on fear and prejudice. It has absolutely nothing to do with what is best for transgender people, transgender children, people who are trying to figure their gender out. It has everything to do with needing a boogeyman to point at and with the British people being all to happy to go along with hating people because they don't understand them.

  2. It is a naked attack on devolution. I say this as someone who has no particular skin in the issue of the GRR, other than wanting trans people to ahve better lives than they do at present. Anyone lining up behind the Tories or the chillingly inhuman Alister Jack, the minister for the eighteenth century, needs to have a word with themselves.

  5. I’ve been in a severe rut, mental health, the usual shite that life throws at you piled tenfold amongst other things out with your control. I decided to paint; it’s not very good, but I struggled valiantly, fiddled with settings I had no idea what they did (digital art, btw). I tried to paint the from my window (minus the lampposts and circles) I know the sun placement in the water isn’t strictly correct, but what felt best about it for me was getting the colours I love to see down on some form of canvas, in the shape of something I love. The sun rising light over some hills and onto what is supposed to be an hue covered Tay. Or, it could just be utter gash, who knows. Regardless, if I croak it, be sure to create a bidding war for it in the future.

  10. Let’s take your ridiculous premise to be true, if someone has an illness and the cure to all the further health problems is to let them be happy, then why the f**k would you oppose this, or even care? On todays news overall, I have a tendency to almost shrug and mutter fucking torries when they behave at their worst, we have become used to it but this has really got under my skin. It’s a terrible move for them politically and yet they have actively harmed people just because they can, how much of a scumbag do you need to be to do that?

  12. Having a three stand stadium with one of the stands sitting entirely empty also depresses the f**k out of me - entirely reasoned argument for opening it, I know xxx. Put the away fans in one half and give tickets to school kids for the rest of the season (barring Pars, obviously).

  13. The club clarified we were doing it due to feedback from the fans in the mainstand. I don't think it's a bad idea listening to your paying customers and providing a solution that's only going to cost you a little extra.

  16. Considering he’s working on a tighter budget I think his signings in general have been fine. He’s taken a few gambles in attacking areas that haven’t paid off but we don’t have the finances to go out and get proven options in that areas. I’d give pass marks to McNeil, Millen, Ngwenya, Nolan, O’Riordan, Brown and Easton. McBride and Frederiksen time has been limited but probably due to the fact they are not very good so they can be classed as failures. Likewise Connell, he had a couple of really good games but overall not what we needed. So I make that 7 out of 10 signings have been passable, not many going to fire us to the title any time soon but in a transition season on a tight budget, they’ve all added to the squad. Few of the pass marks are outstanding signings but McNeil - Is as good as you could expect for a young 3rd choice keeper. Millen - Has really improved and been fine after a slow start. Ngwenya - Isn’t perfect but offers something different at left back and gave us a boost when he was brought into the starting 11 earlier in the season and been a worthwhile signing. Nolan - I think he is probably a back up centre back if you want to aim up the league but he’s had more good games than bad and been pretty solid overall. O’Riordan - Excellent, not a whole lot more needs to be said. Brown - Underrated amongst our support IMO, with Matthews injuries we’d have been fucked without his defensive presence in midfield. Easton - Has blown hot and cold but seems to be coming onto a game again and I think when he plays well, the team plays well. I don’t really have a problem with saying Murray’s signing record has been average but I think saying his signings have been ‘more often dross’ is very harsh. Far from a perfect record but it’s not been a disaster. He’s also got more out of the likes of Liam Dick, Stanton and Connolly than McGlynn did.

  17. After 6 years of simplified gender recognition in Ireland, 195 certificates were granted in 2021, including one for somebody 16-17. We're talking tiny numbers. It's incredible that something that all mainstream parties were pretty well agreed about a couple of years ago has become a major constitutional issue in the UK, all started by US alt-right teenagers finding a way to wind up feminists, and gullible folk like JK Rowling and Graham Linehan falling for it hook, line and sinker.

  22. I'm glad we open the stand for away fans, no matter how few. They're paying customers too and it's disgraceful the way teams like Morten and Celtic treat fans like shite and stick them in the corners or behind pillars. I'm never going back to Celtic Park and I'll only go to Morten if it's good weather and the WDE is open. Treat other supporters the way we want to be treated ourselves, not descend to the level of others.

  24. Late to give my opinion of the match but here it goes. We played as poorly as our line up looked on paper and were fortunate to grab a point. Going into the match and seeing we had no Mitch, Logan and Fyvie along with still trying to fill the void of Sanders, Johnston and Gilmour I feared the worst. Starting Leighton McIntosh up top with Robbie Leitch behind him echoes how thin we were. Both aren't close to Championship quality. Saying that Rovers were without a host of key players too such as Stanton, Matthews, Ross and Ngwenya so we weren't alone on the latter. For the game itself neither side were at their free flowing best although Rovers had the better first half and created more. First goal was very well worked with a superb through ball that Vaughan then confidently tucked past Gourlay. Easton's volley for Rovers 2nd was sublime and unstoppable going in off the post. We will question McClleland's slightly weak header which went straight to Easton's path, however, then on his touch and finish was top notch. As for our penalty it definitely strikes Nolan's hand but saying that Morgyn gives him a wee nudge which could well knock him off balance. It got us back in the game when we never really looked like threatening 2nd half was a poor spectacle all round and by that time I had lost all feeling in my fingers and toes. Can barely recall any goal mouth action and truthfully I didn't see us scoring even though Rovers were getting a bit deeper. When Mitch came on he worked the Rovers back line with his pace and tenacity and started to cause some trouble. For Cove, we're looking to take in 4/5 more players before the window ends and we need them in order to secure 8th. They need to be quality additions if we have any chance of clawing our way back into the mid-table pack. That seems a big ask being 7 points adrift. Rovers midfield with their slick movement is a joy to watch at times. Definitely missing some steel in the defence and look vulernable at set pieces. Also missing an elusive striker, someone who can rough up the opposition, hold it up, knock it on to the midfielders breaking the line. Rovers are still only 4 points off the playoffs so something to play for. Cove still have lots of work to do at the wrong end of the table.

  25. My eldest graduated MA on Wednesday. Obviously I'm a very proud Da. When we had lunch today she said, "I may not have liked school but I always worked hard". Astonishing the effect 6/7 years and two degrees has on the memory. When she was revising for her GCSEs she wept buckets when I suggested she make a revision timetable; would weep buckets when I asked how she's doing wrt said timetable; and would threaten to call social services when I asked her to leave her phone in the kitchen during her revision times. She was a nightmare and scraped by with just the bare minimum of work. But that makes her MA all the sweeter - she did it all by herself.

  28. I find it mind-boggling that so many people have such an issue with a piece of legislation that is designed to make life easier for trans people. The amount of hatred, bile and lies that have been spread about trans people is honestly sickening and anyone peddling it is a horrible, spiteful piece of shit. f**k TERFs and f**k the UK Government.

  31. Make no mistake, this has nothing whatsoever to do with GR, the Tories, supported by fucking Labour have deliberately chosen a contentious & culture wars issue to enact the first S35 order, this will slowly but surely become the norm. It’s a fucking disgrace & if happening in any other devolved democracy would be condemned by the very people taking action. The games an absolute bogey, f**k this, f**k the Tories & Labour & more importantly f**k the UK.

  35. Absolutely - give out free tickets to local schools, youth clubs and juvenile football clubs. Encourage them to support their local team rather than one of the bigot clubs. We are entertaining to watch just now, scoring goals and winning games. Now is the right time to influence the next generation of supporters.

  38. Yup, you'd be bang on. We played him almost exclusively as a winger and he looked, well, like a League One winger. Capable of the odd moment of magic, but prone to having games passing him by. From what I saw of him live last season, and based on your highlights this year, he looks like an absolute revelation in central midfield. You can add him to the huge pile of players Sons have failed to get the best out of in recent years; a pile which includes Kevin Nisbet

He chose the predictably wonderful music himself, and I’m sure you’ll all be pleased to know that the Pie and Bovril forum got a mention at the service as being a passion of his and a great source of strength to him. I’m collating all your messages to pass on to his family. Thank you so, so much for all of them. Happy new year to all of you. Alan x

  45. Thought it would be worth a check in. I'm doing okay. I've been off anti-depressants for a while now, and I'm back exercising a reasonable amount. Shifting a bit of weight as well. I've been lucky in that I've gotten another job that is a lot closer to home. It's gonna save me a small fortune every month in petrol and about an hour and a half a day in commute time, so I'm looking forward to starting that. Our oldest has recently been prescribed Melatonin and that has made a difference to her sleeping.
