  1. Anal Commitee Meeting January 11/01/23 minutes. Thanks everyone who attended. Special thanks to @SlipperyP & @Eednud for keeping the gang together Looked like a smooth year until Dec 6th, that's why we have continuity plan in place. @Eednud taken over was expected without flaws. However, we need a new player to step up now and again. Volunteers for the placement will be welcome or we go to a ballot. Numbers have been up and down all year, nothing to worry about. But, if we want to increase the money pot for the weekly winner, we will have to recruit. Suggestions from @Tynie Bagstock were and always welcome, however shouting out loud is not the answer. We will start with pamphlets, no not your next door neighbour. Your team thread. Stick a link and a message, about this thread. This one for the mods. Stick a message on the new comers thread, maybe pin it. So every new person knows about us. We're looking into a Diddy Cup this year (no fucking B teams), the development is in progress, it will happen. THANK YOU! @Rugster @The Hologram @Leeds Saint @The DA @Helpma @Bully Wee Villa @German Jag @peasy23 @Salvo Montalbano @Arch Stanton @Slim Charles. @Insert Amusing Pseudonym @Duszek @TheGreenElves @Tynie Bagstock @Eednud @scottsdad @Geaky @gkneil @JamesP_81 @Ronaldo Jeremy @JustOneCornetto @mathematics @Snobot @TxRover @ArmadaleKillie @Ross. @101 @senorsoupe @Gaz @Spring Onion @The_Kincardine @The Captain @BigBo10 @pleslie99 @SlipperyP @specsaver @kingjoey @Jacksgranda @BaSeDG0DSA1NT To you all. 2. Any of the social media screwballs celebrating this news will shortly have a "careful what you wish for" moment. When Alan was first recruited into the club he dragged the digital media side of the club out of the dark ages. Not long after he started I'd taken some photos at Motherwell reserve games, Alan spied these on my Flickr account, he messaged me and got me pitch side at Fir Park as a 16 year old to take photos. The engagement with supporters from the club has been second to none since he's been in the big chair and he's always fought the club and the supporters corner. Compare and contrast the handling of the Sevco playoff games to the current St Johnstone debacle. I wish him all the best for the future, whoever comes in has big shoes to fill.

  4. Wonderful reading on Twitter from both arsecheeks who believe that this £1.6m loss is a direct result of them only getting one stand despite it being the accounts up until May 2022 when they still had two stands, and our gate sizes being up nearly 20% in number since then. Fucking morons, no wonder everyone hates and laughs at them.

  5. Time for him to replace Doncaster at the SPFL. That's the master plan to avoid relegation this season.

  6. Genuinely gutted by this news. Despite what the moon-howlers on twitter say, the guy understands and is passionate about the club, does his best to stick up for our interests and is very engaging with the fans (almost to a fault). He's made mistakes but who hasn't? Restricting the **** to 2k in the playoff game was a masterstroke of a decision that no previous steward of the club would have had the balls to make. For that he will always have my respect.

  7. Found the comments on Liam Gordon staggering. Clear to everyone that he hasn't been in great form over recent weeks then Davidson admits: "he's basically been playing through a tight hamstring for the last few games." You fucking have a squad of over 30 players and were leaving Alex Mitchell on the bench. Infuriating. Then his comments on Tony Gallacher made me laugh: "With Tony, he gives you defensive solidity, now what we’ll ask of him is a little bit more going forward." Fine, you think, then you remember he's been playing James Brown over him at left wing back. A modern day Cafu, for sure. This nonsense surely can't continue much longer.

  8. Very sad day. I think those who were looking for this outcome have quite the "you don't know what you've got til it's gone" moment approaching on the horizon. My gut feeling doesn't even wonder at any issues behind the scenes or it being indicative of something deeper. I fully expect it's to try and avoid having had a stress-related heart attack by the time he's 45.

  9. Hi, Used to post as D.A.F.C. and had to end up banning myself due to turning into an angry moron and ending up accusing someone of something on here that was out of order. Anyway I’m doing much better now, got a new job and got counselling. Still browse the site now and again just wanted to give an update. Not going to start posting again, don’t spend much time online anymore tbh, just plotting my revenge in my lair inside a volcano.

  13. Few months on so a little progress update. After gently removing the last of his scabs (they were basically hanging off so seemed more stuck to his fur than the actual skin) Bruce has more or less fully healed. Still strange to look at but what an enormous difference from the look of the fresh wound after his operation with his fur all grown back too. He's doing fantastically well and even back to running about off his lead again

  16. There will not be a better goalkeeper in League One than Kevin Dabrowski. In fact, I'm absolutely staggered he's not at the very least a No.1 for a Championship side. I thought he would go back to Hibs after his spell with us and be their number one by now. Especially after his derby heroics last year. You know how some players just have a bit of an aura and a presence about them? A bit of magic almost just in the way they conduct themselves? Like a swagger that makes you believe in them before you've really seen them in action. That's Kevin. He came into us during the Covid season and was nothing short of sensational. He commands his area superbly, he pulls of genuinely jaw dropping saves, his handling is fairly solid and although he's prone to parrying shots - he does it with so much power that he pushes them away from goal and out for throw-ins. He's a huge character. A bit of a maverick. He'll pull off saves that'll blow your mind, then make a really tame shot look like it was the toughest in the world by throwing himself on it in a mega dramatic way. He's exceptionally loud on the park as well and will happily be a bit of shithouse, winding other players up (hiya Brian Graham, hiya pal). I absolutely loved watching him play for us. And loved it even more when I met him a couple of times. He's the most gentle mannered, polite and lovely big guy you could ever meet. And he just has a huge passion for football and goalkeeping which rubs off on you instantly. You'll probably all have seen his interview after the Edinburgh derby last year, and that is exactly what he's like. A really genuine, and incredibly talented, guy. After he left us, I spoke to Sons goalkeeper coach at the time about him - and he likened him to Fraser Forster. You can read that - here. He's reminded me of Nick Pope since I first watched him in action for us though. But either way, those are good comparisons to have. Here's a link to the GoPro from when he single-handedly helped Sons draw 0-0 with Partick Thistle in the Covid season. It's one of the best displays of goalkeeping I've ever seen.

  20. The use of 'just about' by commentators. He just about saved it - to me that means he failed and it went in, not that the keeper managed to push it round it post. He just about was on target - seems mean it was off target and a miss and not a goal/save Just about is surely a fail, just about tall enough to ride a rollercoaster means you are not tall enough.

  21. Whit? No it isn't. On what basis is it easier, because as far as I can see it absolutely isn't. Maybe if you are a Premiership side registered as a sponsoring employer anyway it's not all that different. For lower division clubs it's much harder than it was pre-Brexit.

  22. Indeed. It'll be blamed for a loss in the 2027/28 season if we don't.

  27. Maybe Big John has thought he could walk in to this team after his big fanfare arrival or has he underestimated how good the championship is whatever Murray has said was needed / worked as you can see with his goal and his 2nd attempt which showed real quality/ believe to take that on , However speaks volumes for the guy when he’s been stuck on the bench and he says that goal was for the fans tonight to say thanks for sticking by me , Every Rovers fan wants you to succeed John just kick on now

  28. Dabrowski is a sensational keeper. What a loan signing that is! I didn't see him coming out on loan at all. Would have taken him in a heartbeat at Cove as I'm sure nearly every other Championship side would have. Bravo Doonhamers for getting that deal done.

  29. Can't figure out why but warmed to JS more than I ever have. Confusing and contradictory at times and evasive as always. However seems to try to do the right thing. I fear the skill in that interview will be quickly undone when Mr A Journalist if whatever paper needs to fill a page and our board/owner blab. Given clubs in our league don't even stream home games we are utterly spoiled by our TV folk.

  30. Only real justification I can see for that is they might have felt that if overpaying a couple of players kept us in the Premiership then that was a gamble worth taking. It failed, so they're not willing to do the exact same thing this January in order to gamble on getting back up there. Irrespective of what any fan thinks of McPake and the players he signed, at that particular point in time he was the manager that Nelms had appointed, so it's reasonable for Nelms to take the view that the manager knows best and back him to sign the players he says he needs. Given that faith wasn't repaid, then I can see why they will be reluctant to do the same thing all over again even though it's with a different manager. TBH, I know I've said plenty of times on here that it galls me a bit that Dundee FC appear to be one of the teams that is pathologically incapable of living within it's own means, so as much as a lack of signings is frustrating in terms of what it might mean for results on the pitch, there's a part of me that would actually respect some leadership at the club deciding that the continual cycle of huge losses and underwriting a playing budget that the club can't support off it's own back needs to be brought to an end. I doubt that the yanks thought for one moment that 9 years on from appointing Paul Hartley the club would be in pretty much an identical league position to where they were at that point. There was a lot made about their plan for us becoming a self-sustaining club. Clearly it hasn't gone as intended on the pitch and that no doubt has consequences for the progress elsewhere, but I don't think it changes the ultimate intent of turning a continual loss-making venture into one that pays for itself, it's just a question of exactly when that becomes reality and what level the club stabilises at. Even if I had Keyes' level of wealth, and my life-long affinity for the club, I wouldn't just indefinitely swallow the losses either, not because I couldn't afford it or because I don't care to, but because it doesn't actually benefit the club long-term. As soon as I'm gone there's no guarantee there's going to be anyone else around to pick up the slack. It's kinda like the commitment parents make when having kids. Sure, you expect to have to parent them for a while, but not still housing, feeding, clothing, and wiping their arse for them when they are middle-aged.

  31. Now I've upvoted all of Elroy Kromheer's downvotes for folk calling him out, can get into this. We will definitely look back in a years time with nostalgia. Is the next person going to make decisions mindful they sat in the same stands as us, going to be put in the hours at the expense of his young family? Quite simply no. You will not find anyone else running a club as empathetic to the support, there is quite simply no need for him to walk a mile in our shoes. The only chance we have of anyone exhibiting anything like the same degree of engagement is if they're under 40, have a background in media and a Well fan too .... thin on the ground. The next six months are as pivotal for the club as they've ever been and while a CEO can do little on the park how this club steers the business end of the season and any fallout could be momentous. If demotion happens then you need it to emulate Kilmarnock, Accies offers a warning and Falkirk/Dunfermline is the abyss. Alan benefitted from being in the building excelling at his first job, given a soft apprenticeship to learn the executive ropes, took his chance and by and large performed despite the hope of many detractors. Well spoken in interviews, I always assumed we would be tapped up for a higher position in our game. The difference with a executive they don't move off the back of success like managers. Their achievements are measured over years than week to week. I doubt this is out the blue, I'm annoyed he couldn't make the announcement on his terms because someone it has been shared with betrayed the news entrusted to them. One thing he is very adept at is being aware of perception. If he has secured another position I'm sure he negotiated it comes with the understanding he will take up the role where Motherwell are not left in the lurch. Of course it could be medical related, it is not a job you leave in the Chapman at 5pm. If it is neither, then a wee girl gets her daddy back.

  32. Lasley's timing for jobs is about as good as his timing for tackles... On the coaching staff at Fir Park since retiring, only to decide to head elsewhere in the summer. Two months later and we sack the manager and give it to Hammell (it would've went to Lasley had he remained). While coaching, spends time doing his Uni degree in Sports Business, but looks upstairs at Fir Park and thinks Burrows has a job for life here. Decides to take on a similar role at St. Mirren. Six months later, Burrows quits! Stay where you are Keith, I don't think it's meant to be here.

  33. Mahon had a very poor game against Elgin and has never been seen again, despite us paying a significant fee for him and Gordon has been shite all season, has been injured for weeks and we have 5 specialist centre backs in the squad, yet he's not even getting the chance to recover. Vertainen tried a flick round that lead to a goal from a corner about 2 minutes later (where McCart was caught sleeping and Morelos got in ahead of him) and he's been sent to Northern Ireland. He treats his favourites and pals far more favourably. Imagine if the likes of Bair had gotten sent off in the manner that Bryson did against Hibs last season. Davidson didn't even mention Bryson's stupidity post match, and that's far worse than trying a flick on the halfway line against Rangers. Sooner this clown is binned the better, might actually be fun supporting Saints again when he is.

  38. I'm going to go with the optimistic viewpoint that he's going to go out in spectacular fashion by sanctioning the signing of 3 absolute #ballers before the end of the month to propel us into the European spots and have us wondering, as we watch Blair Spittal hold the Scottish Cup aloft in May, what all the fuss was about. Maybe.

  39. Someone alluded to where all the revenue has went from last seasons cup ties etc probably to pay for the Floodlights 150K I saw somewhere at the time an issue that had to be address ASAP and the Titan cabin but probably would have saw some grants mixed in with that , The numerous operations the club had to fork out on injured players etc general maintenance around the ground which included the Electrics being overhauled which were a shambles going back years well before the John Sim days also the main stand being painted , the concourses at each end with non slip paint not to mention the remedial work already undertaken by the club to the north and south stand dont want to mention costs on a public forum but just for the price of the specialised paint under today’s climate you wouldn’t believe , John Sim and the directors made a huge error in signing you know who but on the whole he has had the best interests of the club at heart would rather him at the moment than anyone else

  40. I think I caused a bit of a stir with my first comment, however contrary to speculation I'm not a disgruntled employee, but a fan over over 30 years....I'll hold my hands up and admit I made a dick of myself, but again no-one is perfect. Anyway, whilst I had a go at Alan, by no means did I want to see him leave the club, especially whilst are in this position. I don't blame him at all, he has a young family and at the end of the day it's only a job and we all seek to better ourselves. I cannot argue with his passion for and commitment to his job and hope he goes onto bigger and better things, he deserves it as do his family. For me, we shouldn't we fixated on another 'Well fan and need to go and get someone in the mould of Leanne (a self confessed current bun) to inject new thinking and structure at Motherwell. Under Alan's watch the record of appointing ex players was staggering, some good, some bad, but it's life and we never get it 100%. Hopefully we can bring fresh blood and bounce out of this hole.

  41. I'm not dismissing the internet, was just agreeing with the point made earlier that the internet has done weird things to football rivalries. It allows you to be absolutely outraged about everything a club does, or instantly revel in bad news, whereas in real life if someone brought up St Mirren's accounts in the pub you'd look at them like they are mental. So while it seems like everyone hates everything, in reality it's just reactive pish.

  47. Obviously very much in the minority, but I'd have absolutely no interest in him returning. He had an excellent debut, looked decent his first couple of games, unfortunate to be injured early on, but after that offered nothing more than the (very) occasional flash. Did nothing at all at Cappielow and summation of Morton fans from his time there was "complete sand dancer" . I don't see what he offers that's any different or of an upgrade on what we already have. If Alegria is gone we are crying out for someone with a bit of physicality and presence up top. Oliver's performance on Saturday simply highlighted how woefully lacking we are in these qualities. Given the limitations of the financial situation, he'd be way down the list of priorities. Absolutely no thanks.
