  1. Thanks for the concern mate. Been a really tough time recently so just keeping low and not got the motivation to engage with many people. Hope everyone is ok. Hopefully be back soon.

  4. Obviously very much in the minority, but I'd have absolutely no interest in him returning. He had an excellent debut, looked decent his first couple of games, unfortunate to be injured early on, but after that offered nothing more than the (very) occasional flash. Did nothing at all at Cappielow and summation of Morton fans from his time there was "complete sand dancer" . I don't see what he offers that's any different or of an upgrade on what we already have. If Alegria is gone we are crying out for someone with a bit of physicality and presence up top. Oliver's performance on Saturday simply highlighted how woefully lacking we are in these qualities. Given the limitations of the financial situation, he'd be way down the list of priorities. Absolutely no thanks.

  5. If the Lowland League clubs end up shafted I won't shed a tear, they've kept this shite alive by letting them in "for one year only".

  6. I can't really be bothered reading through the whole thread - so would this be a new division below us and above the Lowland/Highland League? Thus LL and HL teams would need to be promoted twice to reach the old 'senior' leagues? I can't see that getting much support. I saw Mick Kennedy's Tweet the other day and, despite obvious questions about the long-term sustainability of clubs like Darvel, he's been a strong voice in opposition to the way Colt teams and the LL sides who supported them have shafted the WOSFL clubs. OKI is absolutely spot on above RE the OF clubs too, especially with the comparison to the woman's game. Previously they didn't give a single shit about it. But as soon as popularity grew they suddenly chucked big money at it, looking to dominate. Now they've wangled a way into the lower leagues they'll want to dominate at this level too - hoovering up more support and more talent to add to their bloated squads. The only interest of the people running Rangers and Celtic should be Rangers and Celtic. I understand that. But the rest of the clubs (again) need to show a united front and tell them where to go. All the scab Lowland League sides who have supported them are letting every other club at their level down. Hopefully it was worth it to have 250 folk turn up and watch a bunch of full-time 19 year olds on £2k a week stick six past them.

  7. Nice to see that you're still on here talking shite. So aye - Mozza here. TLDR, there is no team left in Tullibody (not many in Clacks full stop), hence me trying to get one off the ground. We're awaiting confirmation of joining the Stirling & District Ams just now and any conversation about the EoS will be parked until we can get proper facilities etc in place - likely a good few years away. After leaving the one club I've worked for, figured I'd put my efforts to good use in our home town. Fingers crossed there's enough appetite to make it a success. As @FairWeatherFan says, had a fair few offers but this felt like the best use of my time.

  9. Top Six has slowly wound down his social media / posting game over the last couple of years. I doubt he'll be making a return any time soon. Scarf is fine and still a #TopBoi. I should be seeing him for some lovely pints pre match on Saturday so I will let him know that he is missed on here.

  10. Whether it takes years or decades, the end goal of these b*****ds is to get Rangers and Celtic's B Teams permanently into the SPFL and in perpetual possession of the top 2 spots in the Scottish Championship, We should do everything we can to delay and frustrate them

  11. Interesting that quite a few players scoring highly when assessing them through #data. It seems pretty common ground that one of our issues we have as a side has been a lack of someone, anyone with the intangibles - leadership, direction, ability to lift others etc. I'm generally really very wary of the "more passion" nonsense but this lot are just such a bunch of passive shitebags. The sort of attributes we're missing don't show in the metrics, and while trying to gain an advantage through assessing players through the numbers is something I think has plusses, it's fast approaching the time to get in a few lads who can mix it up a bit.

  15. If I was going to give a two year contract to a guy in his 30s it would be to the club legend, the local lad, the guy who still contributes meaningfully whenever he plays and who probably still has an ambition to earn more international caps. No questions asked.

  16. Anyone who airily dismisses further change I think underestimates the resolve of the OF to further their own ends. Having annexed Scottish senior football at the top end, they are now doing similar in the women's game, and IMO they will push hard to further embed their B teams in the senior structure. Sure it might all be mince, but perhaps it's interesting that this issue has resurfaced shortly after Peter Lawwell has returned to Celtic. And let us never forget that when we have owners and Directors of cash-strapped smaller clubs, principles and the impassioned views of supporters can become sidelined when money is dangled, even if it is obviously Fools Gold.

  19. Wonderful reading on Twitter from both arsecheeks who believe that this £1.6m loss is a direct result of them only getting one stand despite it being the accounts up until May 2022 when they still had two stands, and our gate sizes being up nearly 20% in number since then. Fucking morons, no wonder everyone hates and laughs at them.

  21. Pie and Bovril is my all-time favourite website. I've been using it for almost 18 years after an associate recommended it to me and it's the very best place on the internet to talk about and debate Scottish football - nothing else comes close. It's the first place I come after a Stenhousemuir match, and I feel like I've learned so much about the game courtesy of this site: a reasonable degree of knowledge I've been able to take on in my career. On top of that, I've had some brilliant real-life interactions, most notably playing for the Pie and Bovril Select side between 2006 and 2009 (who could forget David Wilson's lob from inside his own half against Bairnfica!) and winning the Pie and Bovril Fives tournament in 2007 with a squad largely pooled from people who used the site (and judging by the photos from this period, my vibe was simply appalling). Here's to another 20 years! Finally, the greatest post in the history of Pie and Bovril is: Ronkers

  27. Apologies if its been covered already, as I only really dip in and out when I see "B Teams" mentioned, but have we got to the part yet where we're assured there'll be 40,000 travelling supporters at Cumbernauld Colts on a Wednesday night if its a go'er?

  28. My first experience of watching a Queen's Park side taking on Inverness CT was in the CIS Cup in 2003. The experience was a first for me in being on the wrong end of a giant killing. Robbo rested some of our best players but still it should have been a strong enough side enough to see off a plucky 3rd Division side. We were absolute dog shit complacent and the 2-1 defeat flattered us, it easily could have been worse. I don't think anyone cared at the end about our penalty miss at the end, we were shocking and Queen's Park deserved the win. Having to watch through fingers everytime they countered with pace. Been to Hampden a few times on my football travels to watch a Queen's Park game, liked the tablet from the club shop and bought some merchandise for the collection.

  37. Alegria will be a loss, but he's not irreplaceable. The annoying thing about it is that it seems like a replacement we didn't bank on having to do. In the end of the day though if the laddie wants to go home for personal reasons and we are to lose him, so be it. Life is more than just football for him. I hope he stays though.

  39. This feeling sorry for Shields/saying he is being utilised incorrectly can get in the bin. He played for QOS through the middle and on the right as part of a 3. He played for them as one man up too and he played for them in a two. We've tried him through the middle a number of times. The fact is that he's not good enough and more importantly for me he's not improving. He was signed off an 8 goal scoring patch over a couple months but outside of that he is not a goal scorer.

  41. Accies 3-2 Clyde, Challenge Cup Quarter-Final. Not really a random one, since I'm getting to a lot of Bully Wee this year, but enjoyed the Young Team viewing the game from the top of a shipping container. Nae luck for Clyde, with Roberts hitting the post with literally the last kick of the game.

  44. I was actually thinking about this a few weeks back, when I described doing something quite complex to a colleague as 'like being on the Krypton Factor', and was met with a blank expression. Didn't think it was that old a show, but there you go! Also, would describing haphazard driving on a busy road as 'Wacky Races' be lost after a certain generation?
