  1. A great thread, cheers for posting @djchapsticks P&B was started almost by accident. I had set up the Black & White Army forum at the time and I moved it to a new web host who offered me a free domain name at the time. I was a regular SFO user and the site was up and down all the time (sound familiar?) so I registered PIEANDBOVRIL.CO.UK as it was back then and set up a forum and just told the SFO folk it was there to be used as a backup whenever SFO went offline. SFO eventually succumbed and never came back and enough posters went across to P&B to give it the momentum it needed and it went from there. I've had some unbelievable good times and bad times running the site over those 20 years. The lows have mostly been technical, the Wasteland summer was the most stressful, whilst I've been threatened with legal action a fair few times, and of course offered a few square go's over folk that didn't really appreciate being banned The highs have been incredible though, the fives tournaments were amazing back in the day, the golf day was brilliant, and I even got to judge in the Scotch Pie World Championships once. The fact that the site has helped produce marriages and kids blows my mind a wee bit. Social media has obviously taken it's toll on traffic over the years. At our absolute peak we were doing about 5.5 million page views a month but we're still getting 3 million which is not at all bad! Couldn't have got this far without an incredible mod team, some of whom have been looking after the place for more than a decade! And of course all the regulars who make the place what it is. Thanks to all of you and here's to the next 20!

  2. Adamski Junior version 3.0 arrived on 20th December! We’re so delighted. It’s been a long road: eight miscarriages since the beginning of 2020 and we’d pretty much resigned ourselves to it not working out. And dread all the way through pregnancy that something was about to go wrong. But he’s here! A wee brother for our daughter and son aged 8 and 6, who I’ve never seen so excited. We’ve all been enjoying getting to know him over Christmas. Also meant watching Argentina become world champions from the maternity ward of the QEUH. A World Cup final that we’ll never forget.

  4. You're a fairly new poster, this thread isn't really a debate space for why depression is on the rise. While I'm not for a moment saying it isn't a worthwhile discussion, this isn't the thread. It's a safe space for people to post and gain support from other members of the forum. It's free from the usual gentle piss takes and banter from elsewhere on the board.

  5. Wait, haud the bus here. You got to judge a Scotch Pie World Championships because your website domain mentions pies? Right, on an unrelated note I'm away to register 'travelingaroundtheworldandpumpingsupermodels.com' and see what doors that opens.

  8. If Sim has been talking to this group for six weeks, what was the purpose of the public appeal for investment? Was it a way of giving fans a heads up that he was looking to sell up / open the door to foreign investors, after saying previously he’d prefer not to do that? Or was it a negotiating tactic / threat if things were stalling? Perhaps, like a lot of things at Raith Rovers, it was just a chaotic ramble with little sense behind it?

  9. Which are what, specifically? There have been two public consultations regarding this reform bill. Elaine Miller had plenty of opportunity to plead her case. Evidently she, and those sharing her views, have completely failed to convince the parliament that there was any reason whatsoever why this bill should not progress as intended. From where I'm standing Miller and her ilk look like nothing more than a bunch of people who can not accept that they have lost this debate. They've failed to substantiate their argument, and they can't reconcile that there is nothing of substance to suggest that the 'majority' they contend they represent actually exists, and as a result of that they've resorted to the sort of histrionics and delusionary rhetoric that they accuse trans rights activists of. Again, the litmus test of policy is electoral outcome, and evidently most people are more than happy to vote for parties who favour GRC legislation and Self-ID. Miller's stunt in the chamber reeks of impotent rage in the face of a democratic outcome she doesn't agree with. While I understand the frustration, it is emphatically the result of democracy in action, so I don't have any time whatsoever for this nonsense about the SG going rogue and pushing through legislation against the will of the Scottish people. That's yet one more claim that they make repeatedly in the face of the only evidence suggesting the opposite of the claim. And as for this nonsense about 'MSP's protecting sex offenders over women and children' - If someone can honestly have a wee think about the implications of that, come back, and still claim they genuinely believe that elected MSP's prioritise sex-offenders, then I'm sorry, you need to go seek help for your mental health.

  11. Disappointed to lose a match where if we’d had our shooting boots on we’d have easily got something. Davidson had a howler with his team selection. A powder puff midfield three that every Saints fan could see before kick off gave us a mountain to climb. We were getting a pummelling, was as if we were playing either of the OF for the first 20 minutes or so. Hallberg getting injured ended up being the best thing that could happen for us. McGowan is an average centre back, not as good as Mitchell, but is probably our most effective and reliable centre midfielder since McCann left. Fucking play him in there Callum!! When he did go to CM it freed up Crawford and Carey to get on the ball more and up until our penalty we were excellent. May, who had a great game, had 3 chances through on goal that he wasted. Dreadful penalty. Just hit the target ffs. Strange that both times we did score we then seemed to sit off and lost all momentum we’d built up. Hearts were very good going forward, and scored a couple of decent goals, but for that third somebody has to step out to close the ball down surely. Thought Drey and May were our standouts, and MacPherson and Murphy looked decent when they came on. Dropped points for sure but have to say after some of the turgid pish we saw at home last season, nobody could complain about lack of entertainment or attacking play.

  13. I can just envisage a boardroom somewhere in Hong Kong with an evil mastermind furiously gesticulating at a drawing board with a map of Linktoon on it. Circling Starks Park and “prime real estate” written next to it… The idea that someone is going to buy our club with the underhand thought of bulldozing Starks Park and building houses on the land is a bit far fetched. There is a housing crash. It is in one of the least desirable areas in an already undesirable town. The buy to rent market is now pretty much unviable. There is the east coast mainline mere meters from the back of the land. There are so many other areas of Kirkcaldy which you could buy and put houses on - if that was your wish - without the need for evicting a football club and bulldozing a stadium perched on a terribly shaped piece of land.

  15. I don't remember a single person on here being up and arms when blues got released. Saw him a few times for the dev teams and he never really looked anything other than bang average. Not particularly quick , not particularly athletic didn't score many goals and wasn't exactly Tom taiwo in the tackle either. Didn't seem to make much of an impression at ivi either. Back then though we were supposed to be looking for players that would win us the championship and replace the likes of vaulks and Alston and blues was never going to be good enough to do that. As it ended up we brought in a load of complete dross anyway . I'm sure if he was coming through now he'd be a regular for us at this level but that wasn't the case back then.

  29. I agree with most of this except this idea which I’ve seen raised a few times that somehow the only way to make money from transfers is through the academy. We as a club have also had considerable success from identifying young players who’ve either fallen out of bigger clubs’ youth systems or from lower leagues and selling them on- Taylor, Vaulks, Wallace etc and in my view, this is an area we should be prioritising. Hartley signing a bunch of young duds is no more an argument for solely focusing on the academy than the likes of a Blues or O’Hara are for scrapping it. Yates, Burrell and Lawal are all examples of players who didn’t come through our academy but who could potentially be developed and sold on. I wouldn’t want to see that policy scrapped in favour of dogmatically throwing all resources at the academy.

  31. I'm just finding it all to be a total slog now. I don't need to be in the Premiership. I don't need a team that I expect to win every week. I don't need the standard to be particularly high. What we have now though is a team bereft of any oomph or even the slightest hint of entertaining football, a manager who looks increasingly incompetent, a sporting director who has way overstayed his welcome and a CEO who seems to be nothing more than a charlatan. It's better to die on your feet than live on your knees but we're now dying on our knees and it feels like no-one even cares - including the fans.

  39. As someone with an ASD diagnosis, this emerging 'trans people are all just misguided Neurodivergents' narrative confuses me. I mean, even if there is any truth to it, what exactly is the purpose of making this claim? Where are they going with it and why are GC's like a dog with a bone when it comes to autism? Are they seriously trying to suggest that ND people are incapable of making appropriate choices or somehow require saving from themselves? Some ND people do have comorbid learning difficulties, but those people tend to already be well recognised, for obvious reasons. Those of us who don't are perfectly capable of making informed decisions, so this 'save them from themselves' pish needs to f**k off to the far side of f**k, and yes, it is eerily 'conversion therapy'ish.

  42. Alright! Debt issues are horrible and are a leading cause of mental health problems, but it's nothing to be ashamed of. It's very, very common and, as you've experienced, easier to fall in to than some folk might think. Regarding your energy, your supplier won't cut you off. If there is an unexpected and unwelcome surprise you can speak to them and sort out a payment plan, so don't worry that they'll somehow disconnect you. Even if you don't pay, it takes ages for them to cut your supply, but getting on the phone to them is the thing to do to sort it out. Suppliers are often c***s, but they're heavily regulated when it comes to these sort of things. Might be worth just calling them as soon as you can to dicuss. Will put your mind at ease and you won't be waiting dreading a letter. It will take a mental load off. If necessary you can set up a payment plan that works for you, so you won't be paying loads back each month. Would also be worth firing in a complaint as well, as their equipment is faulty and has caused the issue. Might reduce what potentially is owed? Credit card and overdraft debts are a shitter. You may wish to consider opening up a new bank account and moving everything to that (wages, direct debits etc) and just pay off the overdraft as you can, so that your pay doesn't get swallowed up. Again, give your bank a call and they should be able to do a payment plan and freeze interest. Same with your credit card. If not, get in touch with your local Citizens Advice Bureau to discuss. If necessary they can do a debt arrangement scheme (as mentioned earlier in this thread) and also look at all options. They're good at dealing with the folk who you owe to on your behalf. The pets situation is a tough one and unfortunately there's no easy answers there, although others reading your post might have a suggestion. It's easy to say but hard to do, but try and look objectively at your situation. Sounds a bit like you're catastrophising things. Most folk with mental health problems have been there, where thinking things through ends up with the worse case scenario in your head (your supply getting cut off), but that's our dickhead brains messing with us (thanks brain!). There are solutions to your problems and you can come out of this.
