  6. Nice to see the club are doing quite a few things in the lead up to Christmas. A pop up shop in the town, the calendar signing, Christmas Carol's and a party for the weans before the Dundee game. Definitely good things when the feel good factor is already high on and off field. Well done to all involved in those

  7. They've just announced that the Montrose game will be free for season tickets holders too, which on top of very reasonable pricing is great to see.

  8. When Croatia won the shoot out yesterday there were loafs of Japanese fans standing there filming them on their phones. What the f**k is wrong with people? If that was Scotland I wouldn't be filming the opposition team celebrating. Why do this? Nobody cares for these shite little self taken videos anyway, just f**k off you idiots.

  9. This is a good question, when did Hogmanay stop being special? I think that having a huge all night bevvy up used to be seen as something very special and out of the ordinary but the binge drinking culture of the 90s made it pretty normal. I think commercialisation has also changed things. Hogmanay used to be considered more important a holiday in Scotland than Christmas - my grandparents didn’t have a full day off on Christmas Day and up until the mid 1970s a full football card was played on the 25th. Now Christmas is universally the most important holiday and that’s changed how people see Hogmanay. Commercialisation has also changed the Hogmanay celebrations. The street party in Edinburgh used to be free and was a gathering of people to have a drink and celebrate. Now it’s a ticketed concert and really pushed towards tourism. Even things like the Loony Dook, which was a small local event in South Queensferry, is now a commercial, ticketed concern. The move away from Hogmanay being something that people participate in with their family, friends and neighbours to being a commercial experience that you pay for and then expect to occur probably explains what it seems less special. That or we are all just getting old.

  11. Oh and sorry I forgot to mention the strip. I am all over it. For aesthetic reasons and for the "dark to light" mental health stuff. Oor Flow's had a tough time recently (it's nae secret, he noted it himself) and it's nae secret that we've had our fair share of folk who have had their troubles. Good to see the club recognise this tragic situation in another way.

  14. I know the phrase "OCD" is thrown around to describe things like someone liking to keep their home tidy etc, but that does this condition a massive disservice. Tidying your house is a productive thing to do. Washing your hands until they're raw and cracked isn't productive. Feeling that you need to do an utterly pointless thing multiple times or something bad is going to happen is not productive. I have been living with OCD for many years, and it has manifested differently over time. It currently manifests as "checking" things numerous times. It used to manifest as handwashing like a surgeon everytime I touched something I felt was "contaminated" and flicking switches on and off for no reason. I am fully aware that it is irrational and if anyone saw me doing it they would think I am a fucking idiot. Thankfully it does not take up as much time or cause as much inconvenience as it used to. I will probably never be completely free from it, but as I have grown older I have got better at managing it. A tactic that I usually employ is postponing. I'll wait a length of time and see if I still want to do whatever I feel compelled to do. If I still feel that I want to do it, I'll wait again. I'll usually be doing something else anyway and eventually forget to do whatever the compulsion was. Another tactic is going somewhere that other people are, because I'm less likely to do any compulsions with other people around. I am aware that to someone who does not understand the condition I will sound like a lunatic. However, I thought I'd make this thread to challenge that stigma and in case anyone else here had this condition.

  15. Bit the bullet today and managed to speak to my GP about my mental health, which has been in a downward spiral for a while now. Keeping my head in the sand wasn't doing me any favours. Back on Fluoxetine, which I was on back in 2018. Hopefully it will get me straightened out a bit.

  17. It was always OF dominated, yes, but there's definitely been a large reduction in coverage of other clubs and even things like going round the grounds on OAM in the "Kenny mac" era. Instead it's now ranty tabloid arguments about the OF's weekly humiliations in Europe, the OF's boards, the Rangers manager, and VAR, which all feel like they have been going on and on for months, regardless of what is happening at Scottish football grounds on a Saturday. One of the worst things about it is teh general tone which McIntyre brings - he sounds constantly agitated and desparate to talk about "what's going on at Ibricks". Completely made-up stat but to me it feels like it's gone from about 60% pandering OF drivel to over 90%.

  20. Oh dear. We're not friends. We don't get along. We have vastly different opinions and indeed standards but, in an effort to reach out across the divide and provide some assistance to my fellow man I will be as charitable as I can possibly be here. This is your Ratners moment. This is you putting your hand up at a conference and asking "have you considered Blockchain?" This is referencing Peppa Pig to the CBI. This is you volunteering to sign for the deaf at Mandelas funeral. I have never seen a more complete admission that you don't understand how to have or care to try anything approaching a debate in good faith. A disaster of a post. A single screenshot entirely eradicating what few picogrammes of credibility you left. A complete integrity self-immolation. And may god have mercy upon your soul..

  22. Like to see Fin get a start in this one, can't think of anyone to bring in for the defence, maybe give a youth a chance. Think players like McMullan/Williamson/Byrne/McGhee are better off rested for this. Don't see the point in risking injuries to key players.

  28. The youngest is progressing well with his pool, apart from covid times we have played it every Saturday for over 2 years now. Thank you @Mr. Alli The Old Mill is fantastic. We play best out of 5 and he has never beaten me over the 5, until last weekend. When I was 1-0 up, I told him if he beats me on the day, I will give him £5. 4-1 the little shit beat me. Now I'm not claiming to be a World beater at pool, but I have played it countless times in pubs and offshore. He is 11 and it is great to see how far he has come.

  29. So basically, she does NOT support the right to strike. Causing an inconvenience is the whole point of striking. There is nothing even remotely left-wing about the modern Labour Party. Being a fag paper to the left of the Tories doesn't make them left-wing.

  35. I do the sockets/ cooker thing countless times before I leave the apartment and before I go to bed and also take photos ( before leaving the apartment that is not before bed though, that would be mental) some days are better than others, some days I hate myself for it and others I just laugh to myself at the ridiculousness of it all, I also have to check that doors are locked and closed properly which can be quite a challenge with my job as I have the keys for my clients apartments and I'm in and out of folks houses everyday. I've learned to live with it over the years but it can be hard work at times.

  36. Agreed. I'm OK with Ethan going. He's earned a shot somewhere else and probably would already have been playing league 1 or championship level down south if not for the last couple of years as apparently the Barnsley loan move being made permanent was a total goer before covid hit. He's immensely talented and I have always been a fan. Some of our support still give him a bit of shit and it's mostly unwarranted, he's one of those guys who we'll appreciate once he's gone. If we can pull a decent January fee for him and he's adamant he won't entertain a new deal then probably best for all parties to go separate ways next month if the interest is there.
