  2. I'm greatly enjoying these James Cairney series of interviews where he just lets people speak and make c***s of themselves. It's like a Scottish football version of Louis Theroux.

  8. - Throw the Trust under the bus for not communicating properly. - Blame the fans for harming the club and the budget. - Bare-faced lie about the share transfer being done in secret so as not to distract the team who were on a poor run of form on the pitch (utter bollocks because we were playing really well when all the Trust business appeared). Full Jacqui Low bingo card going on in this interview. Lies, blame shifting, making excuses and then trying to play the sympathy card. She’s dangerous and delusional. f**k off, Low.

  9. Exactly. When Jesus done it everyone was all "our lord and saviour has returned" and he got a public holiday commemorating it. But when we done it, everyone was raging. Double standards, IMO.

  10. Week 48 update One death this week, rugby player Doddie Weir: Doddie Weir, former Scotland and Lions second-row, dies aged 52 | Scotland rugby union team | The Guardian There's also a nice video tribute from Tom English here: Doddie Weir: The rugby titan who captured the heart of Scots - BBC News I watch BBC Breakfast before I go to work in the morning and although I only really see 20 minutes of it or so, over the past few years there's been a lot of time devoted to another rugby man and popular Dead Pool pick, Rob Burrows, as he's lived with MND for the past few years. Doddie Weir was featured here occasionally too but I hadn't seen him for a while until a couple of weeks ago when he and Burrows were featured along with Ed Slater, another rugby player recently diagnosed with the disease. The last I remembered was befitting of the famous commentary description of him as a "mad giraffe" - he looked like a rugby player. Tall and large. In this most recent appearance though he looked about half the weight he was before. He was in a wheelchair and had difficulty speaking. Since I started running the Dead Pool I've taken a bit more interest in the ill and dying and I don't think I can imagine anything as horrible as MND. To me, it's a combination of two things. You see someone like any of these rugby players, or Fernando Ricksen, and it's an athlete. It's someone you associate with being physically strong or remarkable, and you're just used to them being fit and strong. Then you see them diagnosed with this disease and see what it does to them and it's hard to rationalise this against the perception you have of them, or imagine such a rapid and obvious physical decline. The other thing to consider is what it must be like to go through this yourself. Seeing people like Weir and Burrows and how they fight through the disease doing the good they have, I don't think I could do that. They're lucky in that they have the support of family and friends, and they have a platform to raise awareness of it, but it must still take a massive amount of resilience to carry on. I don't know that I could. I hope I never have to find out. This month, a former teammate of Burrow's, Kevin Sinfield, ran seven ultramarathons in seven days to raise money. He's over £2,000,000 so far. Weir died at 52, so he's worth 73 Base Points. He's worth an extra 37 for a Vice-Captain and an extra 73 for a Captain. He was a popular pick, so I'm going to list them all separately: 73 Base Points for: @Arch Stanton, @ayrunitedfw, @Blootoon87, @buddiepaul, @gkneil, @HI HAT, @ICTJohnboy, @Karpaty Lviv, @Lex, @LoonsYouthTeam, @Lofarl, @mathematics, @Melanius Mullarkay, @paulathame, @pawpar, @peasy23, @psv_killie, @qos_75, @Raidernation @Sergeant Wilson, @sleazy, @sparky88, @The_Craig and @The Naitch 110 as a Vice-Captain for: @10menwent2mow and @thistledo 146 as a Captain for: @cdhafc1874, @Fuctifano, @JustOneCornetto, @mozam76 and @nessies long lost ghost After all of that, the standings now look like this: 1. 11. Missing Scott Stewart enormously, out since the last Morton match. Always rated him individually, but what he brings to the team defensively and attacking has really become evident over the past 10 weeks.

  12. I know it's the Old Firm and nuanced discussion cannot be expected, but the fuss about QPR's recent form is a good filter for c***s that have no idea what they're talking about. In the EFL teams play a game every six hours or so, and teams swinging from good to bad runs and back is very common. Even in teams who go on to get promoted or relegated, good and bad runs just happen. It's an incredibly cut-throat environment with mad levels of fixture congestion. All of the top teams in the Championship have lost recently. It's that kind of league. Blackburn in third have lost 2 of their last five. Swansea are eighth but haven't won in five. It's just what happens. There's nothing to suggest that these teams can't go up. This bad run QPR have been on has taken in six games, but it's lasted less than a month. It's entirely insignificant in the discussion of whether this guy is a good coach or not.

  14. I was at school with a boy who was a tailgater. He passed his test and it was a white knuckle ride sitting in the car when he was behind the wheel, inches from the bumper in front. No clue how he ever passed his test. Years later he crashed his hand glider into the Ochil hills and smashed his leg to pieces, as well as loads of other horrific injuries. Tailgating a hill, ffs.

  15. Me and the laddie done a score prediction pre-match, I went for 4-0 and I wasn't far off. Felt it looked pretty evident throughout the game that Talbot were every bit a junior team, they were poor. Some of our fans need to take a look at themselves though, booing the team off the pitch at half time was a really shitey thing to do. Typical Rovers fans though. The game panned out exactly how I expected in that it was going to require a patient performance and in the end I don't think you could begrudge us the win. Into the next round which is the main thing.

  16. The absolute brass neck to accuse fans of damaging the club. If she would just fuckoff and take the PTFC Trust with her, this all goes away. If she actually cares about the club and what fans think, she will resign. Also, to use "It is a group of people in one bit of the ground" is nonsense, I joined the protest on Saturday and had a chat with various people, a fair amount indicated they were JHS season tickets and also mentioned people they'd normally attend with decided not to attend the game instead of protest.

  20. Simply put, no. The five trustees currently in post were hand-picked by the football agent Stewart MacGregor, working together with senior figures on the Club Board. The organisation has existed since 2015, and has held only one set of elections (in 2018). From November 2019 onwards, it has operated with precisely zero elected fan representatives. Under their current proposals, unelected trustees will continue to be in the majority until at least summer 2024, and the trustee group will not be fully elected until at least summer 2025. None of the unelected trustees are being put up for election in their first set of elections (which may or may not take place). The Trust deed has been varied several times to circumvent the requirement to hold elections following changes in personnel. The beneficiaries of the trust (season ticket-holders of three years standing) have no meaningful legal or democratic rights under the trust deed, because the trustees can routinely overrule them. The Trust doesn't even know how many beneficiaries it has, let alone who they are, because of a GDPR problem. Compare and contrast with The Jags Foundation, a conventional supporters' association with over 930 members, substantial proven fundraising capacity, a fully elected board, and one of the most prominent engagement strategies in Scottish football. Who were overlooked for the share transfer, pretty much, because they wanted to be able to hold the Club Board to account for trivial things like, oh I don't know, losing £215k in the last financial year.

That team inspired a generation of fans and a standard every player and team since has been compared to. To give you an idea how good they were in 50 years since there are only about 5 - 6 players who would get in the squad. You have to feel sorry for them
