  1. Rather pleasing. At least Clyde fans can sleep easy knowing their promotion winning team who finished 2nd in League 2 in 2019 would pump us.

  3. Vale of Leven 4-1 Royal Albert A good day out despite horrible conditions. Lovely ground and I've received a great welcome by members of both committees. Vale were easily the better side and thoroughly deserved the win, which was a very important one for them. Great seeing @Craig fae the Vale again too.

  4. Runcorn Linnets 2-1 Macclesfield Northern Premier League: Division 1 West clash between the table-topping visitors and a home side firmly in the play-off positions. Very open end to end game. The home side, (who lost the promotion play-off up to the Northern Premier League proper last season against Marine) were probably the better side first half, yet found themselves 0-1 down to the leaders about ten minutes before the break. The game turned 5 minutes later with a straight red for a proper forwards two footed lunge by the Macclesfield number 9, apparently on his debut! Two minutes into the 2nd half a peach of a free kick from the edge of the box restored parity. An injury to the Macclesfield keeper (a Brazilian lad on loan from Liverpool) proved to be the second turning point, with no sub goalie on the bench we got the always exciting sight of an outfield player pulling on the top. To be fair the Macclesfield defence managed to keep his shot stopping interventions down to a minimum but with 20 minutes remaining they conceded what was to be the winning penalty with a lazy leg out tackle on the edge of the box. Both teams should be in the running for the title in this division come the end of the season. Impromptu fireworks display right outside the ground seemed a weird seemingly-unrelated interlude with 10 mins remaining but did serve to gee up the loud celebrating home fans further as the game closed out. The game apparently marked a record 1,080 attendance for a league game for the home team No sign of Macc DoF Robbie Savage, though they did include Ex-Palace, Leicester and Guyana international Neil Danns

  5. Greenock Morton V Queen of the South. Scottish cup round 3. 4-1 to The Ton. 1614. Crowd 1614. £18 no programme but free team sheet. A real treat today. Finally managed to tick of Cappielow Park. A perfect day for football, cold, wet and windy and a cracking cup tie. A deflected shot by Robbie Muirhead put the home side ahead but QOS fought back to equalise on the half hour mark. Both teams had chances but it stood 1-1 at the break. Second half continued to be even end to end, but with 15 to go, Morton won a free tick on the right after Quitongo pulled a Ton player back. Man of the match Robbie Muirhead then hit a left footed shot over the wall and beat the keeper at the near post. Morton had took control, and then won a penalty with two minutes to go which Gillespie converted after Muirhead handed him the ball. Morton then scored a fourth in injury time to put a very comfortable score in what was a tighter game than 4-1 suggests.

  6. Having had three and having shared a business with my ex - so being 'hands on' - I'd brain-dump as follows: 1. You'll spend the first few days looking at 'her' (or him) sleeping. You'll think 'Out of 7 billion people this is the most perfect baby ever'. This is normal. Enjoy. 2. Ignore yer maw and yer Mrs' maw. Your family is now down to you, your Mrs and the wee yin. 3. Wee weans, from Day 1, are unconditionally fascinated by you. It's the first time in your life that has ever happened. Engage with them. 4. Buy a sling or some sort of Baby Bjorn devise. Strap her to your chest and take her out. Or just walk about the house and do stuff while (s)he's with you. 5. Resist the urge to buy 'everything'. All she needs is food, warmth, engagement and hygiene. There's a reason why 'hardly used' baby items are everywhere. 6. Have a social life. Go and see folk and have them back at yours. (S)he is not a doll and will love engaging with folk - even when (s)he's days old,. 7. Buy hunners of nappies, wipes and nappy bags. The amount of shite a wean can produce seems out of proportion their cavity size. For me, the important thing is how you bond with and socialise a wean. Not what you need to buy - nappies aside - for them.

  7. When we were training in trenches it utterly pissed down one night and I had to spend it in the cold clammy clinging mud. It is vividly one of the worst memories in my life. No one was trying to kill me, I knew hot food was only a day or so away and I knew a dry clean change of clothes were waiting for me when we rotated out.. Day after day, week after week of that energy draining, hope sapping mud must be a vision of what real hell is like. The mud gets into your food, you constantly have to clean your weapon, even taking a shit becomes a task of getting the slimy cold things off off you to somewhere they will not get slimier and finding a way to dump and wipe without getting more mud on than shit off. Trench foot is a huge risk. The skin becomes cold and wrinkled and circulation to the outer bits gets cut off. The skin dies allowing in disease and things like blisters and open sores develop leading to further infections and worst case the foot can end up being lost. Prevention is theoretically easy, keep the foot dry and change socks regularly. But, well those pictures... taking those boots and socks off once a day for your foot inspection will be another chore of mud, cold and discomfort. Bleak pictures. f**k Putin and f**k every one of his apologists.

  8. Western League Premier : Clevedon Town 2 Welton Rovers 1 att 102. Scrappy affair between two Somerset (ex) giants. Two goals from Archie Ferris settle the score, not greatest quality but plenty of effort at least. A lot of the Bristol and Somerset clubs struggling for support now that the old guys have died off, and youngsters are either playing or have other interests.

  10. The Britnat mewling about “move on” “once in a generation” “divisive” “day job” might hold some water, but for the fact that in numerous elections since 2014 & especially after 2016 the Scottish electorate has decided it’s not a dead issue. It’s not the SNP pushing for a second referendum, it’s the Scottish electorate who keep voting for them, it’s not the SNP being denied democracy, it’s every single voter in Scotland. I’m personally aggrieved that despite winning several elections since 2014, my voice isn’t being heard. The UK nationalists can howl all they want about wee Nippy etc, but until they start winning elections, it’s not the SNP being fucked over by Westminster it’s every single voter in Scotland. The sooner the debate isn’t about SNP but about who really matters, the better!

  11. That’s been our issue all season, we’re very attacking and generally look dangerous against most teams, just so soft at the back. I’m not reading too much into extra time, I think Dundee could have scored as many as they wanted by that point, but no doubt they deserved to go on and win from there. I enjoyed that as a day out though. It was a pretty even game overall, Dundee perhaps having the ball in our half a bit more but I rarely felt like they were going to score during the 90 minutes. I felt we were worthy of the draw and the second half was a good cup tie with both teams really going for it. It was nice to be back at a ground we’ve not played at for a while too, makes not turning up in the play-off final last season even more annoying.

  15. Kilwinning Rangers 0-1 Glenafton, WoSFL Premier Division, 25/11/2022 A last-gasp winner for the visitors here in a game that should never have taken so long to produce a goal. Woodwork was hit, chances missed, lots of heavy tackles. All in, a really decent game and a very well-taken goal to finish it, although he should never have been played on by lazy home defending. Two games today, and a decent enough Friday.

  16. Scottish Cup day, pretty uninspiring draw, so Hill of Beath v Elgin was my pick. Connelly put the Haws ahead but Dingwall and Hester won it for Elgin. Ross Allum won and missed an early second half pen as Mailer was sent off for a DOGSO but Haws never really capitalised and Elgin are in the draw for round 4. About 600 in attendance.

  20. It's so pointless. Rangers don't have a game today, or for a few weeks, so their fans are less likely to be listening. Folk who might be listening who don't normally are fans of Drumchapel, Darvel, Hill of Beath etc who probably thought they'd be featured for once.

  21. Absolutely spot on imo. There’s a few ITK on here with friends on the board or major shareholders who appear to think it’s wrong of anyone to ask questions. The recent statement was overall a positive development but it was laced with very little of substance, so why some take offence when anyone dares ask questions is a mystery to me…..a bit like the details of our apparent positive financial situation I suppose….

  24. They just don't get it. Every time the PTFC Trust make a statement, The Jags Foundation sees a bump in its membership. Every. Single. Time. They fundamentally seem not to understand why it is that the fans feel the need to protest in the first place. It's really pretty galling to see precisely the people who divided the support, by going behind everyone's backs, thwarting fan ownership, refusing to democratise, failing to engage with the fans for three months after being appointed, voting to re-appoint the Club directors en-masse, then turn around and tell other people that they have responsibility for uniting the fan base. The most unifying thing two things that could happen at our football club right now would be Club Board resignations and a full set of Trustee elections.

  26. It's more a case of why in gods name would you be so interested in the finances of another club in Scottish football that you'd listen to 90 min podcasts they put out.? I couldn't give a feck about the financial position of any other club in Scotland other than my own. Nothing he's asking hasn't been asked by others on here either so we're just going back over old ground to appease someone who doesn't even support Falkirk.

  33. Black Americans used to use "woke" to describe the realisation of the hurdles they face in the economic and justice system they live in. Now that Scottish retirees are using it as a derogatory term to describe anyone who thinks we should just try to be nice to each other, maybe the word should be dropped from the lexicon.

  34. I was thinking earlier in the week that around this time 10 years ago I was struggling massively. I have come back a decade later to answer this question - yes, I was lucky. I thought that life was not worth living anymore, and that I had wasted my chances to become better than what I was. That was not true. There are too many things to list that I would have missed out on if I had not been prevented from hanging myself by a complete stranger. Here is a few of the things I would have never got to experience: 1. Getting into unversity to study Mental Health Nursing. 2. Seeing my nephew grow up. 3. Learning to drive. 4. Meeting my ex-girlfriend. We may have broken up now, but that was a really fantastic time in my life. 5. Ayr United winning the league in 2017/18. I was in my early 20s when I posted that. The idea that nothing positive will happen in your life when you're that young is ridiculous. It's never too late for good things to happen. It's going to eventually become my job to promote recovery in other people's lives. I know that recovery from mental illness is possible, because I am evidence of that. If you're struggling, don't give up. You have so much to offer, no matter who you are or how you feel. Jamie xxxxxxxx

  44. Reading the third of their thread it's clear what the PTFC Trust's tactic is here. They are calling on The Jags Foundation to renounce the planned protest at tomorrow's game while being fairly certain that they'll do no such thing. They can then claim that the Jags Foundation are condoning action that will harm the Club. To be fair TJF did similar with their call for the PTFC Trust to vote for the removal of 4 directors at yesterday's AGM. They can't possibly have thought that they would do so. It's pretty much Civil War now. The PTFC Trust would be well advised to try to avoid going further down that route. TJF have the support of a large section of the Thistle support, have moral right behind them and are just a damn sight better at it. The PTFC Trust may, over the passage of time, become the fans' organisation that the current Trustees you imagine/hope aspire to become but those current Trustees won't be the winners of this civil war. I'm not entirely sure how this will end but it's going to be messy and damaging before it does that's for sure.
