  1. 10/10 for Thursday and 7 for the SCQ. This might be a "worth getting out of bed" day after all

  2. I was thinking earlier in the week that around this time 10 years ago I was struggling massively. I have come back a decade later to answer this question - yes, I was lucky. I thought that life was not worth living anymore, and that I had wasted my chances to become better than what I was. That was not true. There are too many things to list that I would have missed out on if I had not been prevented from hanging myself by a complete stranger. Here is a few of the things I would have never got to experience: 1. Getting into unversity to study Mental Health Nursing. 2. Seeing my nephew grow up. 3. Learning to drive. 4. Meeting my ex-girlfriend. We may have broken up now, but that was a really fantastic time in my life. 5. Ayr United winning the league in 2017/18. I was in my early 20s when I posted that. The idea that nothing positive will happen in your life when you're that young is ridiculous. It's never too late for good things to happen. It's going to eventually become my job to promote recovery in other people's lives. I know that recovery from mental illness is possible, because I am evidence of that. If you're struggling, don't give up. You have so much to offer, no matter who you are or how you feel. Jamie xxxxxxxx

  6. What a steaming pile of shite. So 60% to leave the Union but leaving the EU was 52% - and could have been 50% + 1 vote. As ever the Britnats move the goalposts any time the SNP meets or looks like meeting their criteria. What democratic route is there? We could return 100% of a vote for independence parties and they can still ignore it.

  10. Thursday First night I arrived in Dundee, I met my friend's husband for some pints on Perth Road. Had one in The Phoenix, food and drinks in Tonic then went to Mennies. Some bloke who looked like Postman Pat kept gurning and singing 'Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner' in my ear all night. There was also some Bald Bloke telling everyone to shoosh for some reason. In the side room, there was a group of extremely small but attractive women. Friday Friday was probably the most chilled. I did some cultural stuff during the day (McManus etc.) Had a few in Dynamo then met @Meadow_Jock where we grabbed some food from The Tail End. Back to Dynamo where we met 'The Shetland Pony' who was there to see his daughter's graduation. A small smartly dressed bald man talking in wingdings who switched from being extremely happy to aggressive every ten minutes. He was infuriated when we said he looked sixty. He advised he was a Celtic fan but 'hated all the Irish shit'. I never knew if he found his daughter in Trades or not... Saturday Got to Trades at 11am. I had to neck some water as I was struggling badly. Cheeky vegan sausage roll and then we started in Frews pre-game good crack. I could barely face the pints from the night before. Two pies and a cuppa during the game helped me back on track. After we went to Whites and then The Glens to see some old rockers my mate knew (I was flirting with the barmaid in French for some reason). We went to that awful lodge place in town to see the infamous photo of Saddam Hussain outside their toilets. The place was miserable. Like a living room from the seventies. Felt very dirty afterwards but saw the Saddam photo. Sunday Started at Phoenix around 3ish. Was feeling beyond shite at this point. Drinking and eating slowly. Few froths in there then we went to The Nether Inn to play pool and put some horrible songs on the Jukebox. Then went to Club Bar to absolutely stroll the karaoke and make some friends from Glasgow. Also met a local guy I called The Troll who kept singing AC/DC and kept trying to chat up a lesbian. I had some food from Wee Mexico but they made it extra spicy because I'd fucked them off. Monday Long sober train journey back. I will definitely be back!

  14. I mean it's a reasonable question in that devolved sectors are the responsibility of the Scottish government, but without power to adequately borrow out of these many pay crises like most western governments I think it's fairly obvious. The UK borrows hundreds of billions and hands it to the companies suppressing wages. In Scotland there is fairly limited power and scope to fully combat that while providing the social uplifts we have compared to south of the border. AFAIK the borrowing budget is restricted to book-balancing and not economic growth. Not a like for like comparison for me.

  15. Hopefully there will more but, I will take satisfaction from Mone being the one thrown to the wolves over PPE. She seems thick and arrogant enough to have price gouged quite excessively and left enough evidence around. Hopefully there's enough to bring down those she lobbied like Gove too. Thieving from the public purse and defrauding the nation(s) in a no joke national emergency, supplying substandard kit that cost lives while trousering (or stuffing into her shitey bras) millions should result in actual heads on actual fucking spikes.

  16. Given the inflation rates everyone is worse off even after pay rises. I'm a local government employee and the teachers' grasp on reality and more particularly sense of entitlement is extraordinary.

  17. An often overlooked issue. Any Scottish party could send the full complement of Scottish MPs to Westminster to enact a clear manifesto, and there they would be soundly blocked on every single vote unless MPs from outside Scotland decided to vote with them. There is almost no point in any Scottish-based party even having a manifesto in a UK GE election, because Scotland as a nation has no independent power to vote through anything - whether on immigration or defence - it was elected to vote through. Obviously, to some this is an unacceptable position - for any self-respecting nation hoping to get things done democratically. To UK nationalist parties, it’s simply a tool with which to blackmail Scots into voting for them - “Vote for us because only with English and Welsh MPs’ agreement do you have even a chance of getting what you vote for”.

  19. Honestly I’d prefer radio silence from the club on this one. Any celebratory statement would come across as crass. The club can be pleased with the findings and quickly and quietly move on. It’s over.

  20. Tbh, everyone in Scotland knows how McPake sets his teams up. His style is industrial and has been since he moved into management. It’s maybe a bit dated but it’s working just fine this season. His team are 7 points clear at the top of the league in Dunfermline’s first season in it so it’s evidently working. Its not up to McPake to find another style that’s more pleasing on the eye / it’s up to other teams to find a way to beat it and so far only 1 team has.

  21. Yet it took until injury time to register your first shot on target? Hardly played us off the park and we snatched the mother of all undeserved wins. Mcpake had Mcglynns number that day, stop crying about it [emoji23][emoji23]

  24. Reading the Arbroath Statement and it is exactly the sort of thing the Accies Board have put out since the Canning days every so often the last eight years. Arbroath FC need to be careful here as throwing the baby out with the bath water will only lead to long standing fans being so pissed off that they will chuck it.At the same time, the new fans/glory hunters will disappear like snow off a dyke and you will be left with a lower number of diehards. This happened at Accies as folk I know who were going 20-50 seasons have stopped going completely with the hangers on fcuking off to support the Old Firm now we are on a slippery slope. The Club have belatedly acknowledged this with a new Director acting as a go-between and trying to bring current and lapsed fans onside, but the damage has been done. Memo to the Arbroath Board;never go full Canningesque to defend a Manager as those fans will be there long after the current incumbent has gone-unless you alienate them completely as our club did.

  29. Rutherglen Glencairn 2-2 Neilston, WoSFL First Division, 23/11/22 A dreadful first half of 'action' followed by a really entertaining second half. Little happened before the break, with the only real flashes of skill provided by Neilston's Peter Haggarty on the left wing. Sadly, he faded out the game and got hooked in the second half. Glens went ahead in the second half with a long-range shot that possibly took a deflection. It certainly confused the keeper and looked a strange one to me. Neilston came back into it and got themselves ahead. Their equaliser came from a penalty for which the keeper didn't receive a card for the foul. Neilston's bench (right in front of me) erupted in fury at no red card, or even a yellow. The referee explained to them exactly why. It was an attempt to play the ball, so a red is downgraded to yellow, a yellow downgraded to nothing. In this case, the attacker was going away from goal so it's a yellow downgraded to nothing as it's a penalty. I thought the referee handled the situation really well, but the full Neilston coaching staff, quite inexplicably, seemed not to know the rules of the game that they coach a team to play in, and just kept giving him abuse until he booked one of them (I think Derek Carson). Mad behaviour. Who'd be a ref? Anyway, Neilston were the better side overall, but failed to see it out and Glens got a late equaliser after really poor defending from a cross ball. So, a really enjoyable second half, with four goals, both teams hitting the bar, the penalty controversy, and some decent passages of play.

  30. 25 people max buying 10yr STs isn’t really going to affect us in the years to come . Morton fans should worry about trying to shift 25 a season at their standard price. Will next season be their first in the top league since the mid 80s? Who knows but I’ll stick by my prediction months ago that we will play a premier league game again before Morton do. They’ll shit the bed like they always do.

  31. Lol wut We went into administration with a chairman determined to kill the club off just like the shipyards. He failed - we won. We then took control of the club under fan ownership a couple of years ago and are going from strength to strength. Falkirk fans by contrast have failed to do anything to stop their club descending into such a hilarious nick. Too busy creaming yourselves over fictional crowd numbers, total duds like 'Super Ray McKinnon' and your 'sexy' squads - all of which was duly punished with failure. There's nothing to 'dream about' at your rancid outfit. But enjoy your ten year season ticket for Clyde and FC Edinburgh at home anyway.

  32. Certainly seems like some wet lettuce has complained to the club and to then respond to that with a statement is bordering on pathetic. Im sure every player and coaching staff would say we deserve a bit criticism this year, just as much as we deserved all the praise last year. On the flip side, I think some of the shouts and comments on here are a bit over the top. We’ve made poor signings and just haven’t got going at all, it’s a case of hanging in there till January and Dick simply needs to ship out 5 or 6 and get in players who are capable of getting us enough points to get to 8th. Getting behind the team will also help us achieve that.

  34. People celebrating the fact that Scotland is not allowed to govern itself properly and want us to be beholden to the whims of an increasingly chaotic, xenophobic and racist government. Sad times. All for a flag.

  35. It really is some take that instead of making a case for ‘why’ we should stay in the UK that people on here and elsewhere are celebrating that the people of Scotland are not allowed to make constitutional decisions against the wishes of a government elected essentially solely by the English power base. Lets all just take a second to reflect that people actually think this is a good thing.

  36. Yeah well, like I said, fans like us arent the only people the club are trying to sell to. Its a nothing comment. Just like McGlynns comments after the game were also blown way out of any proportion. I have cringed at stuff this board has put out, aswell as the last board, but this one just isn't doing it for me whatsoever. A total meh sentence that I don't think needed to be there, but give zero fucks about.

  42. 1. There is a way to test who is in the majority. One side refuses because they know the will lose. 2. Its all very well criticising the SNP government....and much of the criticism is justified.....but painting a devolved administration with limited powers and fixed fiscal constraints as being primarily responsible is being disingenuous. The bulk of our nations economic and social woes continue to be the fault of, as you described, shite British governance. 3. This is just pish.....and you know it.
