  1. Inter San Francisco 5-0 Davis Legacy. 3rd qualifying round of Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. Game was played at the Beach Chalet Soccer Fields on the Ocean side of Golden Gate Park. Game was delayed for 15 minutes as the Davis player with the strips was late and in the end they started with only 9 players. 9 men were then reduced to 8 men due injury but managed to get to half time at 0-0 however with Inter bring on fresh legs at half time they eventually broke down the Davis resistance and Inter scored 2 quick goals in the second half. Davis were then reduced to 7 as another player had to go off injured before Inter grabbed a third. ETA looks like they got another 2 in last 5 minutes after I headed back to pub.

  4. That's a pretty wild interview. "If you're going to have the temerity to be negative after getting pumped 5-1, you better be happy clapping loudly enough for me to personally hear it when we win" is not a sign of a manager taking entirely justified criticism well.

  5. Just recovering from my insane weekend in Dundee. Saturday involved a tour of the Hilltown’s finest establishments. Firstly, why does Gal always play his best line up later on? Sheridan starting was grim. Complete pony. Sadly Osei looked like Bambi on ice. Accies didn’t do much aside from time waste from the off. They look certain for the drop. McMullan had a stormer and Williamson did too. Rudden was the big awkward lump we needed him to be. I thought Lawlor did well too (aside from that big slip). CBs were solid. Thank you fine people of Dundee for your hospitality. I don’t think I’ve met that many characters in such a short amount of time.

  6. Big blow losing Kirk, but hugely disappointing for him personally. He's been terrific for us and there's no doubt he's been continually improving. He's got a bright future in the game.

  9. Never underestimate the power of football fans and their ability to affect change through protest, pressure, and if necessary their wallets and the law. The European Superleague was a done deal until it wasn’t. The same with the abuse of power by owners at Cardiff City. If the Club and Trust show no willingness to work with TJF then they are spitting in the faces of more than 900 of their customers. A business like Partick Thistle can either respect its customers or find itself very quickly out of business. If you think the fans should sit back and take this contemptuous treatment, fair enough. But more than 900 of us think a proper fan owned club is worth fighting for. And the only way we get to that outcome is to make clear we will make life very bloody difficult for them if they don’t change their act.

  18. On a positive note I thought it was great to see the St.Mirren Women's team getting to play at the SMiSA yesterday and the social media output around the game, as has been the norm this season, was top class. Well done the girls on an excellent 3-0 win to boot.

  23. Left after the 4th goal went in. Actually don't think we played 'that' badly, I've certainly seen us play worse. Of the top of my head Stanton should have been screaming at Ross to leave it when Vaughan cuts it back in the 1st half (why Ross tried some weird backheel is beyond me), decent strike from (can't remember who) where QP keeper tips it over the bar, Dick perhaps should have done better with his chance before QP broke away and scored their 3rd, Gullan and Vaughan then all missed decent chances and it was clearly not going to be our day. Thought QP looked a decent team, quick precise passing with good control and clearly very clinical when chances came their way. Certainly looked better than the likes of Ayr, Morton and Dundee. Not quite sure why Murray insists on goading the opposition fans, he wasn't getting any treatment from us throughout the game or has any history with us however from watching most teams highlights this season it seems this isn't uncommon behaviour from him. Just a pity QP were romping it when he decided to sclaff a couple of chances and get it tight from our supporters.

  28. If we were trying hard and just being beaten by better teams, then fine. I could live with that. We were relegated with Sheerin a few years back, and the fans wanted him to stay. But its what we are seeing on the pitch that is the problem. It isnt a team out of form, and it isnt a poor team with the management doing their best. Everything that is happening on the pitch is a conscious choice of the management.

  30. Its down to the fact Dick has lost it. His tactics, team selection, subs, player recruitment, man management have all gone downhill very quickly. The fans are rightly angry at what we are seeing playing out in front of us BUT Dick is not taking any blame for it and is started taking swipes at the fans.

  33. I think it's important for football in the city for a Dundee club to be in the Highland League (although both United and Dundee are doing their best to get there). It would be nice to see one of the Midlands clubs - ideally Lochee United given their history (and the fact I've got a soft spot for them) to make the step up, similar in a way that formerly Cove and now Banks O'Dee have done in Aberdeen. It's also important for the pyramid, as it does feel to an extent that the Midlands is just in the pyramid in name only and starting the dialogue of promotion and relegation is healthy for football nationwide and having a local HL side would just be nice to have. So it's a bit of a shame to see the debacle about Harper, it also really doesn't paint the club in a good light. Think about all the positives that have happened in the past few years, and the only news stories in the past 12 months in The Courier are about the appointment of Harper and his dismissal.

  34. The only time he scored a decent number of goals in his career was when he played in the National League South in England. At Crawley he got 3 goals and 2 assists in 29 appearances and he has 2 goals and 4 assists in 31 appearances with us. Can't fault his effort or work-rate but he is simply not good enough. I would always start Young ahead of him.

  35. Well, usually there isn't much drama at Lochee United, hopefully we can steady the ship now. It seems that there were investments offered that weren't seen as sustainable and could end up being very risky and none of it was properly discussed, hence the people responsible for that had to go. Sad for Harper that he was caught in the middle of this as it wasn't his fault obviously. In the end, we don't want to be another club that rises fast and then just disappears, the long term future of the club should come first.

  39. 29/42: Annan 1-3 Elgin, League Two, 19/11/2022. A really enjoyable game at Galabank. Elgin had already hit the post before they went ahead through a goal credited to Findlay (*conflicting reports here, it may have been Mailer, depending on who you believe - I'm leaning towards Mailer) after a wee stramash on the goalline from a corner. Not seen it on the highlights yet, but refreshing to see a goal allowed after a challenge on the keeper. Cameron put them two up with a shot I'm pretty sure took a decent deflection to go over the keeper, sounded that way. Annan came back strongly in the second half and scored a good free-kick by Reece Lyon. Was also impressed by their sub Chris Johnston, who bears a slight resemblance to Messi. He was tricky and put some good balls into the box. Elgin ultimately dug it out, though. Special mention to Darryl McHardy who seemed to spend the whole game making mistakes and then screaming at this teammates for them. Elgin sealed the win with a late goal against the run of play, but over the 90 minutes they probably looked the better side. That's them up to third and from what I've seen of them so far, I'll be surprised if they don't end up in the play-offs. A well-organised side with a goal threat. In League Two that takes you a long way. Had the car with me yesterday, which is quite annoying as that wee social club at Annan seems like a decent place to sit and have a few pints, but I've never been down without the car. Still, a good day at a good club and an enjoyable game. Still f**k all luck with the half-time draw. Winning ticket yesterday 6666, surely a fix!

  40. Hell of a claim for a boy who's been scratching his baws in Bath in front of his laptop for the last 30 years, blaming Liverpool fans for Hillsborough and spouting bile like this: "Oliver Mundell is the sort of public speaker that makes you wish his dad had embraced his homosexuality sooner". And that's before he became best pals with the likes of Graham Linehan and co in persecuting probably the most marginalised and inoffensive community there is. Journalist my arse, he's a money grabbing shyster and a lazy leaching poisonous c**t trying to live off sad ALBA types because nobody in the gaming world or any other think he's got anything worth saying. Just my opinion of course, free speech eh...marvellous!
