  3. The problem with Ukraine "compromising" is every time they recapture a town or city they find evidence of war crimes and atrocities. Russia is murdering, raping, forcibly deporting and stealing the children of Ukrainians. What Ukrainian leader could abandon his people to that?

  5. Bump Well, how did we all do? We survived, although my wife caught Covid from my stepdaughter's arsehole of an ex partner. Myself and our daughter escaped unscathed. After vaccinations started we were a bit more adventurous but still kept ourselves to ourselves, really our only outings were going shopping or the two ladies getting their hair/nails/eyebrows done, very little visiting of stepdaughters. (Our other "outing" were trips to the GP/hospital.) Stayed at one of the stedaughter's , but I was house sitting and there was nobody there, other than Jack for half the time. And 2 dogs. And 4 cats. And 3 hens. And 20 or so sheep. My wife's eldest sister has resumed her weekly/fortnightly visit. I got used to staying in and am quite content sitting in the house, tbh. Our daughter is back at the Day Centre 2 days a week which has been a real boost for her. Overall, a bit of a change from 3 years ago,but happy enough.

  7. I had gotten that far and I really didn't want to give up, although I really did. I was following Seth Abramson's live tweets at that bit, and narrating it to a Discord server. My thoughts were as follows: watching dickhead's announcement [8:28 PM] no idea why I'm doing this to myself [8:28 PM] it's just outright lies and weird drooling [8:28 PM] even CNN have already cut away he's just managed to mispronounce 'Mexico' [8:32 PM] that's genuinely quite impressive, he pronounced it Mexic-AH he's 10 minutes over time, and he still hasn't announced a single policy [8:39 PM] talking about how he calls Xi 'King' [8:40 PM] because he's President for life [8:40 PM] he's just rambling utter drivel [8:40 PM] this may actually help herschel walker [8:41 PM] i don't buy that he was being chaperoned by Graham and Cruz for those interviews, they were there to make him look like less of a c**t by comparison [8:41 PM] now he's off on something about Germany trying to hurt America and asking if anyone remembers Angela Merkel [8:41 PM] and now a really bad German accent [8:42 PM] Herschel looks like Einstein next to this arsewit [8:42 PM] Germany is watching us die and laughing as it happens, apparently [8:43 PM] now apparently you won't be able to get turkeys for thanksgiving [8:43 PM] he's just asked someone to sit down saying he feels guilty for them standing up [8:44 PM] i think the impression is that he was catching someone about to applaud him, i'm sure it was someone trying to escape [8:44 PM] now he's going to launch 'an all-out campaign to end our reliance on China' so no more electronics or clothes or shoes I guess [8:45 PM] apparently there's 10m people coming in from Mexico this year I've been watching Fox on YT and they've given up now [8:46 PM] He's still going [8:46 PM] They're now cutting to footage of Biden in Bali [8:48 PM] they've got him in a profile shot, still talking but muted with a couple of their pundits trying to do damage control [8:48 PM] Jesus limping f**k [8:49 PM] "We got Mexico to give us, free of charge, 28,000 soldiers." i've no idea. i don't think he does either [8:57 PM] he's going to cut crime by 80% by executing drug dealers within 24 hours of arrest [8:57 PM] good luck with that cunto [8:57 PM] still going. full half an hour over his half an hour [8:57 PM] fox are now just calling him an arse [8:58 PM] oop, they're going back to him now [8:59 PM] crowd are chanting 'drain the swamp' [8:59 PM] back to the Steele dossier now [9:02 PM] Voter ID and same day voting only to be allowed [9:04 PM] oh god, now he's getting Eric to stand up [9:04 PM] not inviting him on stage tho [9:04 PM] something about al capone and billy the kid [9:05 PM] oh, apparently eric got more subpoenas than al capone. and jesse james [9:05 PM] now he's getting melanie to stand up [9:05 PM] camera isn't panning to her tho [9:06 PM] I presume she's got the middle finger up on one hand and making slashing motions across her neck with the other [9:07 PM] i think he might be winding it up [9:07 PM] please let him be winding it up [9:07 PM] i've come this far, I don't want to cut it short, although I want that more than anything else on this planet right now [9:07 PM] oh, he's going to end homelessness now [9:07 PM] no detail [9:08 PM] oh, and we're going to Mars [9:08 PM] again, no detail [9:08 PM] HOW THE f**k IS THIS c**t STILL GOING [9:10 PM] he's done [9:10 PM] Melanie's up on stage now [9:11 PM] there's nobody who can manage to pull off the 'entirely devoid of a soul, but at the same time absolutely fucking seething' look like she can [9:16 PM] I tell you what, come January I’m going to be taking no shite off the mrs about childbirth if I’ve just done that ETA - I do like the fact P&B still swearchecks you even when you're cutting and pasting, those were not asterisked in the original text. Very civilised.

  10. What are you talking about? Who is ignoring this? I'm genuinely interested in the psychology of people like you who won't hear criticism of obviously horrendous regimes without saying 'BUT WHAT ABOOOUUT UUUS?'. The Iraq War drew the biggest protests Britain has seen in modern times, it was a hugely divisive issue in the country at the time, and it's one of the main reasons a once extremely popular Prime Minister is now widely reviled. The suggestion that British people and media (many of whom spoke out against it and some of whom presented evidence outing our own soldiers as wrong 'uns) just shrugged and accepted it is nonsense. Are you one of these people who says 'Well, HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO AMERICA?' when someone criticises the Qatar World Cup?

  17. I'm irrationally fuming about that starting line up. - Why is Gordon starting? He is 40 in a few weeks and neither of our other keepers have played a minute for their national side. We should be attempting to blood Kelly in now so he doesnt go all rabbit in headlights when he gets papped in against Spain away or something. - Whats the point in Jacob Brown? If he is remotely good enough, give him a chance in the team. If not, why is he in the squad every time? - We know what every starting player can do. Why not give guys like Porteous, Ramsey, Ferguson or Brown the opportunity to put pressure on the established players. I like having a settled team/squad, but its becoming a closed shop even for the odd friendly we play which cant exactly be motivational for guys with international aspirations that are not currently involved.

  18. I agree. If PJ is fit then we need to get Hogarth back to Forest in January (if that's the deal) because we could presumably use the fee we're paying for him to get a RB or a striker in. No point in having two fit keepers of our own and playing a loanee, unless the loan is a considerable upgrade, which I don't think he is.

  19. I read a bit about them a few years ago, the "science" is pretty dubious/inconclusive tbh. There's not really a consensus or hard evidence they work. A boy at work bought one, he was notoriously crabbit/temperamental. Whenever he was ranting aboht something I used to lean over in silence, and switch the sad lamp on. This acted as a catalyst for a heads gone every time, it was fucking great.

  21. In case there is any doubt. I think some of the people who post on this thread are absolute bullshit merchants. I mostly ignore them, they fill in facts gleaned from watching youtube videos on "army stuff" with wild assumptions. When ever there is a crisis like last night, find credible people with decades of specialist knowledge and take your opinions from them, they will mostly say "wait till we have the facts".

  23. Hopefully it will lead to some of Zelenskyy’s rhetoric being dialled down at the very least. Understandably he’s trying to paint Russia in as bad a light as possible but in the immediate aftermath of this he was calling on article 5 etc and for all other nations to attack Russia. Yes this wouldn’t have happened had the Russians not launched their barrage but he needed to keep his powder dry with regards to this until the facts became known.

  31. I have attended loads of hospitality over the years (some as an invitee, lots as a host in a previous life), and the one thing that jumps out is that there are people who - having not paid for an expensive day out themselves - turn instant c**t. Non exhaustive list - Guys stealing bottles of spirits from the free bar (York Racecourse) as 6 hours solid bevvy wasnt enough............... People having a stand up fight and getting flung off a train (York again, different year) as they cant handle their drink. Uninvited people turning up instead of the right person (their boss decided last minute not to go and just gave some random office wanks his tickets) (Edgebaston), they didnt want to watch sport, stayed in the bar, got steaming, abused the bar staff and were chucked by security. Salesmen asking if we could set them up with the hookers that hang round the nightclub (The Belfry) after having a few too many champagnes. People simply not turning up with no notice (Wimbledon) (various rugby) because it wasnt the specific players or country that they wanted to see..................... One guy didnt go to the races one time as "he only travelled that far by helicopter" and someone else had done that for him at Silverstone . Too many incidents to list of people, having had a full on v expensive day out somewhere demanding taxis etc - paid for by someone else to take them home........twats.

  38. Football transfers now are all down to what the player is worth to the club rather than what he is actually worth in the market, you see it with the likes of Maguire etc down south. Akinyemi being here till the end of the season and potentially firing us up is worth a minimum 1.7 million in prize money this year (winning the league) and next year (12th worst case scenario). So, in my view it takes a 7-figure sum for him in January, which will never happen unless someone from the top end of L1 or the English Championship fancy taking a punt. The figure falls dramatically if we don't go up and he's left with 12 months on his contract.

  39. Especially when at most games they are on their todd. Mistakes are part of the game, it doesn't stop me shouting or laughing at the time, but there's no point in getting your knickers in a twist. The rogue apostrophe in the title has annoyed me more

  40. So you’re saying that if any team gets a draw against rangers or Celtic it’s fine to report on it as if the teams aren’t equal That’s one of the main problems with Scottish football journalism - that everything is reported on from rangers/Celtic’s point of view

  41. You've got to love estate agents' tenuous grasp of geography...classic examples are that huge swathe of housing estates out by Patterton station that they optimistically list as Newton Mearns, and advertising places out in Yoker or Knightswood as "five minutes from the vibrant west end" which would only be true if you were strapped to a cruise missile. Oh, and their insistence that anywhere in Kirkintilloch is actually Lenzie...

  42. I wasn't particularly impressed by the performances against Ireland at Hampden or Ukraine in Poland. If Parrott had scored hit sitter for Ireland and we'd drawn 2-2 or if Yarmolenko had scored his sitter and we'd lost to Ukraine 1-0 I don't think we could argue the results as unfair. The results were fantastic but I have seen us play at least as well if not better in games prior to the matches last September, that's just how I see it. I'd never really thought about it that way, but I agree with that - his team do have an ability to pull a result out of the fire at times in spite of their performance. It feels to me like a team that can generally be trusted.

  44. I've been wondering about the human filth that stores its wealth in offshore tax havens, avoids tax, and lives off its web of offshore trusts etc at times like these. Do you ever think that these people hoarding (that's what it is) wealth away from everyone else ever feel even the slightest pang of 'am I the bad guy?' when they see that we've got to the point where you can no longer reliably catch a train, people's lives are at risk due to pressure on public health services, and we can't say for sure whether kids will get their exams marked this year? Similar with big corporation avoiding tax. There's absolutely no shortage of money. We just do nothing as a society to make sure we use it fairly. It's a sign of who controls the messaging in society that some absolute choobs can still manage to straight-face the 'Where does the money come from, then?' line in relation to paying normal people a sum of money that avoids their standard of life plummeting. That's the wrong question, the right question is 'Who's stolen all our money?'.
