  2. I had a shocking hangover but went up to Arniston v St Andrews. Not a bad game, I thought St Andrews looked the better team but it could have gone either way. Just as the match appeared to be heading for a draw Saints scored a good winner to please their decent travelling support.

  3. I recently did a wee illustration of the Hope Street Turnstiles at Brockville. I was going to post this earlier this week, but the result last week really did flatten my mood. After todays more uplifting result I decided this was a better time. https://etsy.me/3x1aMKN

  4. The frustration for me is he was exactly what we needed last week to break down Dunfermline and yet he sat on the bench for 90 mins. Just can't understand the thinking in that at all.

  5. Since this week's ICT capitulation wasn't due till 1730, I nipped down to Ayr for a 1330 kickoff in the WOSL Cup at Dam Park Stadium. Whitletts 1 Blantyre 2. One set of Vics propping up the div 1 table, the other in the promotion hunt, and it did show overall. Whitletts did take the lead but overall it could have been more. Lunch was 2 steak pies @ £2.50 and a Bovril @ £1.20. Excellent friendly people at Vics. Lived in Ayr for a year and would have liked to stay a bit longer, but had to get up the road for Doddsy's Disasters FC.

  6. Las Rozas 0-3 Eibar First round of the Copa del Rey and an enjoyable little trip to Las Rozas, a commuter town on the edge of Madrid. As you'd expect, Eibar came through given they were in La Liga recently and are near the top of the Segunda whilst Las Rozas play further down the pyramid. The home side were well on top first half and should really have been ahead but as soon as Eibar scored with about 25 mins left, it was only a matter of how many. I'd say just under 1000 in the one stand with a good contingent of "ultras" from both clubs at either end of the stand. A little trip to the La Virgen brewery straight after made for an excellent afternoon.

  7. 28/42: Morton 2-1 Partick Thistle, Championship, 12/11/22. This is one I identified from the beginning of the season, mainly because I think it's a great combination of strips plus a tremendous ground to watch a game at. Added bonus of it being a significant game in the promotion battle. I took along a couple of mates to this one. One is a Rangers fan, so he knew what Cappielow was, but the other is an American lad I worked with years ago who is in Scotland for the weekend. Let's just say that he found Cappielow an eye-opener given that he's used to watching American football and Baseball etc in very corporate environments. He certainly enjoyed it anyway. He kept saying 'There's nothing like this in the States, nothing'. A decent enough game, and, not for the first time this season I've seen Thistle probably get less from a game than they should. Very little between the teams, but Morton seem to have the bit between their teeth at the moment and got it over the line. Quick mention for the absolute catastrophe in the gents' toilets at the Norseman pre-match. Anyone who was there will know what I mean. Fucking hell.

  9. The turnaround in Jack Thomson’s form is incredible. I was surprised and very underwhelmed when we signed him permanently, and even more surprised when he was given an extension but he’s like a different player this season. Mal Boateng is just a Rolls-Royce.

After a goalless first half, a 46th min opener as the visiting gk couldn't hold a shot, simple finish. Floodgates opened for a 5-0 victory, with the Phones having two late red cards to seal their fate.

  14. Alloa 5 Queen of the south 1 £18 entry. Attendance of 708. Parked around the back at the community centre. Queen of the south started the better side and went 1 up through Gavin Rielly in the first couple of minutes and looked like they were going to dominate from start to finish. Poor defending from a set piece let Alloa back into it and second half Alloa were more intensive. More poor marking from set pieces and a cross that the keeper should be dealing with all day long seen Alloa take the points in a mad 10 minutes spell. Managed to get a programme as well, something i noticed a lot of clubs aren’t doing now. Overall a good day out.

  16. The stick and the groans he gets when he comes off the bench is ridiculous tbh. He’s got a very specific job to do in our midfield now and that’s to break up play and make sure we get a hold of the midfield. A couple of recent games (Montrose away and Alloa home) where him coming in helped us get back control of the midfield that we were losing. He’s not someone who’s going to play every week but for certain games he’s definitely got his part to play.

  19. It's a bullshit post tbf. Say what you like about our BoD but to show no ambition would have been to instantly revert us to PT this season. They didn't do that, they remained FT and have clearly given WG a decent budget this season. If we fail to go up this season it's WGs fault, not the BoD.

  26. I thought Nesbit was one of our better players last week in a team that way underperformed on the day. He never hid, always offered himself up for the pass and rarely put a pass to the opposition. As Russ says his assists have been excellent, if he keeps assisting others to score and not scoring himself I'll be quite happy. Since time began Falkirk fans have never appreciated what's in front of them and 9 times out of 10 when they leave us they go to a better league and team.

  27. Yes I’m no fan of our BoD but the notion that they haven’t supported our manager with regards to the squad he’s brought together is utter nonsense.

  28. I'm not sure there will be anything possible that a Saints player could realistically achieve in the near future that could top anything Spoony has already achieved at the club and this call up just further cements that. I'd expect he will at least get some game time over the 3 games, so will be the first to actually play at the world cup. To grow up a Saints fan, not only play for the club, but to then to have the club success he has had and now a world cup, let's all be honest, he is living all of our footballing dreams (obs dark blue instead of red at WC for most).

  29. I wouldn’t be starting him straight away when he’s back fit either but worth noting we have won games against Arbroath, Raith Rovers, Cliftonville, Cove Rangers, Hamilton and Partick Thistle with him starting so I’ve certainly not written him off yet as others seem to have done

  30. Bobby Linn getting taken off again…… WHAT IS HE DOING. He says that the players we brought in maybe aren’t as good as the ones we’ve let go… true, but why do your best to get them all on the fucking park. Bringing Deri Corfe on for Bobby Linn should be a sackable offence in itself. An absolute joke, people on here sticking up for that behaviour and thinking that Bobby would understand it etc. That’s shown to be complete bollocks now. The squad isn’t as good but we do have some very good players still. Dick and his subs are fucking us up every single week. Incredibly frustrated at this shit. I feel like we are shooting ourselves in the foot. Players all working hard but they’re being let down badly. We were the better team and looked like we could see it out until the Campbell subbie tombola come out to play. Taking Bobby off, f**k me. ETA: Cove 100 percent deserved a draw in the end. Nearly 1800 there after we’ve been absolutely guff most season and with minimal away fans. Dick letting us down badly

  31. Can I just point out that if we had beaten Dunfermline last week we would be top of the table today rather than 5 points behind? In my opinion we lost due to poor managerial decision making. So I don’t think it’s wrong for some posters to remain angry that we never performed in that game. It’s easy to say just move on but I’d rather obvious errors are not repeated….

  33. 35. You’re right but it’s not unexpected when you’re young that you have something to learn. Personally I think we have too many players NOT prepared to take responsibility for a shot. It’s all to you, no to you etc. There was one really bad case yesterday imo, the other 2 less so, but still great to see him back to something like himself in the 2nd half. Also great re the DABS.

  36. There have been a number of times since signing where Nesbit has deserved it, but it is now down to individual games and become much rarer under McGlynn. I have gave him it tight on only 2 occasions this season I can think of. Airdrie away and Kelty away. Other than that hes been either passable or good every week. Some folk maybe just don't like humble pie. This is all based on the games I have seen of course, I have missed a handful.

  37. I thought about posting this in the Stenhousemuir thread but here makes just as much sense. They must be an incredibly frustrating team to support. Every time it looks like Swift has them playing well, they seem to do a complete u-turn and then go on a really poor run. Equally, any time they seem to go on a poor run, they go and pick up a result. In terms of yesterday's game, no doubt Stranraer deserved all three points. They were well on top in the first half and probably could have been further in front. Kouider-Aissa missed the target with two chances when he should have worked the goalkeeper. In terms of the first goal, Brennan comes racing from his goal and puts his clearance straight to James Hilton. As soon as that happens, you can tell what is about to happen. Fair play to Hilton, it's a smashing finish. If he tried to drill a shot, it probably would have hit a defender. The fact he goes for the lob means Stenhousemuir's only hope is it goes wide. He can be a frustrating player but he's the one in the Stranraer team that can really do something a little bit different. The second again highlighted defensive issues when a cross into the box is not dealt with. Maybe a little bit unlucky that it falls straight to a Stranraer player but Stenhousemuir should be clearing it. It looked like it could be game over at that point but Stenny get one back when Matty Yates beats Luke Scullion to a cross and heads home. Stenny were improved after the break but even then Scullion was hardly overworked. The main talking point/points comes just after 70 minutes. There will be Stranraer fans that think the sending off is harsh but I don't think you can go into tackles with that much force these days and not expect to run the risk of a red card. The reaction from the two benches is typical and sure enough it is a red for Kyle Girvan. Obviously, no idea what was said on the touchline but Hamill is sent off as well. You fancy that it will be all Stenhousemuir for the remaining 20 minutes or so but immediately they concede a goal. That must be a real sickener for their fans because they seem to have the upper hand and then immediately go and concede. Tom Orr pulls one back but, outside of a couple of corners, Stenny fail to really call Scullion into action again.

  41. The game started well with both sides trying to play some nice football before Buxton started hitting long balls, as soon as this happened Banbury took over, they scored a nice first goal before a cracking free kick to go in 2-0 up and Buxton already looking out of it. Second half was more of the same and a well worked third goal was followed by a penalty brilliantly saved by the Buxton keeper only for Banbury to score from the corner. 4-0 to the visitors, 910 at the game including around 100 from Banbury who sang all day, (in the bottom pic.) I will be lumping on Ipswich for the FA Cup match.
