  1. The point surely is that an independent Scotland will get the government it votes for. If that's more right leaning than some socialists would wish for then that's the will of the people of Scotland. What definitely isn't the will of the people of Scotland is more Tory government. The reason so many of us can't vote Labour is because they're quite happy to expose us to something we absolutely don't want because that's what people in another country have voted for. I'm no longer prepared to vote for a party like that - particularly as they've accepted separation from the EU as a done deal, won't acknowledge Scotland's right to choose and fight the SNP with far greater vigour than they fight the Tories in Scotland. These are massive issues and the rest of the policy argument pales into insignificance compared to these. Also, Labour in Scotland are content to slaughter the Scottish Govt on stuff like health when they know that Scotland is performing better than rUK and they know that the Scottish budget is determined by another country. Most of us are ex-Labour voters. We'll never go back to them for as long as Labour is in step with the Tories on the biggest issues.

  5. Scrapping the abberation of the TCA which Labour voted for en masse (and demonstarbly is a disaster) and fInding a way to leave the European Unon that didn't horsefuck our ecomomy and simply set aside devolution and the 1, 2, 3 4 referendums that the people in devolved nations endorsed, isn't "reversing brexit." That is straight up the position and language of the very worst of the Vote Leave zoomers like Lilico, Baker, the ERG and Farage. You might argue that this it is simple political expediency for Labour to have turned its coat so fully but, it does have consequences. It does mean that as far as Scotland is concerned they go can go f**k themselves. Who was it that claimed to "be the party of devolution" again? Not these half-tory's that think devolved consent is something that can and should be casually set aside if a large minority of English votes might be at risk? Surely not. This is what I mean about arguing in bad faith. As for immigration you don't even need the moral case (although of course it is there) becasue the practical, economic case is screaming so loudly that we have enormous shortages at al levels. But there are people, who Labour helped to convince over the last 2 decades (see Broon embarrassing himself by apologising to a bigot) who think we don't need people to come here and those that do are stealing the NHS and their kids music lessons. And Labour do not have the testicular fortitude or backbone to make the argument. Which is not just amoral, not just cowardice, not just unspeakably dishonest (although it is very much those things too). It is directly, right now, as we speak harming businesses, harming the economy and making us look like c***s on the world stage, and driving away the people we desperately need to come here and make these stupid, fucked up racist, chronically ill served and horrendously badly governened misereable little collection of islands their home. I hate this more even than Brexit. I fucking despise the casual disregard for humanity. I abhor and piss all over those that cannot see the harm this does and shrug their shoulders at this unbelievably stupid, mean, myopic dog shit attitude to immigartion. It rips my knitting to shreds to have the Scotland I want to live in viewed from the outside through the prism of the xenophobic, byzantine and deliberately cruel Tory policy towards migrants, while Labour stand back and fucking well clap. At the risk of repeating myself. A plague on both your houses.

  7. Those long ball stats basically confirm what we already knew - that our football is sexy and supporting morten is depressing as f**k. Take McGinn out of the side and the average age of the team that started the last 3 matches was 23. Feels like the club is getting its identity back and McGlynn has got to take a lot of credit for that

Trophies for the best team, the three highest individual scorers and of course the knock out cups - There will be four rounds and we have six teams. 13. It's extremely clear whenever Dundee United play Hibernian at Tannadice that one team is, let's say euphemistically, 'given help'. Could it be the side who sold their once-Catholic souls to the devil, or the club that stayed true to their Irish roots? It sure is a mystery.

  15. Got to agree, didn't realise this was something we were missing but it makes a huge difference and despite being 'unofficial' it feels like it brings you closer to the club every week. Long may it continue and well done to those involved

  16. Surely there's a minimum standard that needs to be met, even when expectations may not be very high right now? 2 wins out of 10 at this level is atrocious for any side, never mind a full-time club.

  17. In 1973 the Queen dispatched her private lawyer to lobby the government to change a proposed law that would allow the public to establish who owned shares in specific companies. Her lawyer argued that disclosure of her shareholdings would be “embarrassing”. And yet some many fools fawned over this woman. It’s incredible that some folk are so enamoured with a royal family who piss all over them.

  24. Nesbitt isnt mentally checking out of games anymore, and has a defined final product. He previously lacked that and as sure as shit, at any point in a game last season where he tried his first no-look, "round the corner" type pass, you knew that was him absolutely out of the game.

  27. Totally understand all of this, but I think the crucial difference is that the guys on Sportsound aren't just reminiscing about old times - they're employed, and presumably well paid, to bring journalistic content and professional opinion to a radio program which should be tailored to fan interest/priorities. The issue with SS is that for years, it's become completely remote from its audience - and has become a boys club circular talking shop. Craig Levein misremembering details on Sacked in the Morning in the context of an entertaining anecdote - absolutely no issue. Craig Levein obviously not knowing a key current issue in the SPFL when contracted to provide insight on key current issues on Sportsound, not right IMO. ETA - I've no real issue with Levein in the context of the rest of the goons on Sportsound. I'm just using him as an example because I initially quoted Paxo's post about him.

  29. Thank you @specsaver East Fife - Scotland Thanks for joining, you have now been entered into the league, you will start in the 3rd tier (Last Chance Saloon Shootout) The League - Runs from Mon to Fri, each day a link will be posted by the first person to do the quiz for that day, therefore if you come on to post your score and you are the first for that day out of kindness, stick a link in your post. Also, say which day you are posting, easier for myself. If you missed a day or two you can catch up using the http://quizoftheday.co.uk/archive/ Your final scores for the week, usually have to be in by midday on Saturday, however I'll remind those folk on a Friday, before I head out to the disco to bed. League tables are posted on Wed/Thu and Sat. If you're in the top 3 you will be promoted automatically, coming 4th you're in the playoff, which will be held on that same day. This is always a well constructed question to the highest standard possible. . Weekly Cup - This runs along side the league, you don't need to do anything extra, you will enter this cup if you are in the top 3 of any league. Sometimes there is a playoff question, this question is always about football stadium capacities. Random Cup - These cups pop up now and again, which are put together by one of the league members. At the moment we are playing the @Tynie Pecksniff which you are already involved in. It's all rather easy to follow, just remember to keep posting.... gifs are welcome and the unwritten rule @Jacksgranda is not allowed to win anything apart from a few wooden spoons. Good Luck

  32. Bowyer also said the other week that he thinks 'it's a joke when players say they haven't been given a chance as they get a chance every single day in training.' Genuinely think he's got something about him as a manager even if there's been a few questionable decisions at times. I truly hope this isn't a missed opportunity and he gets punted before he gets the chance to build his squad. I want him in charge of the cull and I get the feeling he'd be ruthless.

  33. I mean, a guy that ended up being a convicted murderer getting chucked out suggests that it probably wasn't the stewards acting like arseholes. Similarly with the old guy, smoking in all seater stadiums hadn't been allowed for at least a decade at that point, he was ripping the piss.

  35. That's not a reason for it to go badly. Businesses use new technology all the time, and well-run businesses simply train their staff to use it before they're going to be making an arse of it in the real world. The company I work for is in the fire safety business. We use new things all the time. We would never accept an argument that 'It's ok if this is a shambles, because we've never used it before'. You use the experiences of others who have used it, you train staff thoroughly, and you expect competence from those using it. Incredible that this far into VAR some people are still prepared to use the excuse of 'teething problems'. They've been using it in other leagues and cups for years now. What do you think we can't be prepared for? We don't even need to focus on elite leagues. Have we had people talking to the leagues and clubs in places like Korea and Australia that have been using it for ages? There is absolutely no excuse here.

It will be our first game together since 2013, when she joined me at St Mirren to witness the wheels fall off Jackie McNamara's seemingly unstoppable team. Match prediction - we'll leave after 70 minutes regardless of the score because she'll be cold.

  40. 17/42: Kilmarnock 2-2 Hearts, Premiership, 9/10/22. A funny one this, as Hearts rescue it from 2-0 down. Rubbish weather, some terrible errors by players and match officials, a comedy goal and a great goal, a last-minute equaliser. It sounds better than it was, but overall a decent enough match. Our tickets were unfortunately near a large group of the Hearts young team, and, f**k me, I thought I was negative. These lads are daft. Still, a decent day out in Kilmarnock, and 12 goals in three games this weekend to shove my goal average back up a bit. Now at 2.7 per game having been flagging a wee bit. So far, after 17 games - 4 Premiership, 3 Championship, 2 League One, 2 League Two, 3 League Cup, 1 Challenge Cup, 1 Conference League, 1 Europa League - I've spent 320 quid getting into the games, an average of 18.80. And I'm running at just under seven quid a goal.
