  1. 2 years of a pandemic, war in Europe, extortionate energy bills, cost of living crisis, tanking economy but haud the fucking bus some old dearie has died so lets stop everything for 2 weeks while we attempt some dystopian society of enforced mourning that would make North Korea proud. f**k this servile, forelock tugging pish. If people want to fawn over nonce harbouring, entitled weirdos that's up to you. Away and greet in your own time and let the rest of us get on with our lives.

  2. It was only on Tuesday we had the SFA acknowledging the impact of energy costs on clubs, and saying they were open to earlier kick-off times as a result to keep costs down. Three days later, clubs are forced to have games postponed, meaning midweek games which will require the use of floodlights, with lower attendances and hospitality takings than if they'd gone ahead tomorrow. Absolutely pathetic cowards.

  4. f**k her, f**k the new one and f**k the whole elitist arrogant anachronistic bullshit. Nothing should change, no armbands worn and no flags at half mast. She was not an example we should put forward as a positive one, she embodied the absolute opposite of meritocracy, afforded every single privilege that her subjects weren't (and at the expense of the taxpayer) yet the smooth brained idiots lapped that shit up for breakfast. f**k them too, I hope every single royalist is feeling utterly devastated. Lickspittle c***s, tugging their forelocks because a rich woman who had nothing ever to worry about and who had the power and finances to make this country considerably better yet chose not to, has finally shuffled off.

  5. Some getting a bit bent out of shape here. This is pretty much the ideal medium to express frustration over this. Id be willing to bet that most people complaining don’t or didn’t hate her, but would’ve just wanted it to be like most news stories that are announced then you move on. What we’re seeing/hearing in the media is incredible, totally detached from reality and verging on oppressive. Then to top it off they cancel peoples valuable free time at the weekend for no justifiable reason. Of course people are pissed off and are going to moan ffs.

  6. People don’t want their lives dictated to them. Or to be told who to grieve, when to grieve and how to grieve. As has been said, working people are still in work today because too many financial interests would be impacted. So football and sport has been selected as the sacrificial lamb, not because they believe people are curled up in grief, but because an image needs to be portrayed that we’re a ‘nation in mourning’. It’s a lot of shite and people are absolutely right to be annoyed.

  7. I'm the only UK citizen in my office. Rocked up today to be greeted with "Are you coping OK", "How are you feeling?" etc. Think they were confused by the Hawaian shirt and cigar.

  9. Just had an email at work asking if anyone wants to volunteer to "line the Kingsway in Dundee" on Sunday as Boxed Liz is passing through on route to Edinburgh. It says we need to, and I quote "represent Dundee in its best light to the world's media". Might go along and redirect her down the Hilltown.

  11. Someone on the Leith Facebook group made the mistake of suggesting putting flowers by the statue of Queen Victoria last night out of respect. The exchange that ensued was brief but amazing.

  12. Tay FM has spent the entire day playing depressing songs (Angels by Robbie William has 3 plays so far), no adverts, and no news updates beyond whats happening with the royal family. The whole country is literally being forced to be sad for absolutely no reason. Football returning after covid helped show how important the experience is for many with depression etc., chance to spend time with friends/family, blow off steam etc Theres absolutely people with depression being pounded with 24hr "be upset!" coverage and have had their weekend escape stolen from them, all because a rich 96yo died peacefully surrounded by family and we've all to be upset.

  13. I can guarantee that if any of the SPFL players had died, the Queen wouldn't have played a football match two days later.

  15. This is all a fear of being out of step with the perceived public opinion and the potential backlash. Getting soundbites outside Buck House etc. isn't a good gauge of public opinion anyway. Those people have felt compelled, for whatever reason, to go to these places right now. Of course you are going to get the reaction your seeing. Anyway, I went to the football the day after my father died (I needed out the house) and a couple of days after my mother's. Now my lesiure activities, but not my work, are curtailed without any choice. How, Where, When, or even If you grieve shoud be a personal thing. Not something that is imposed upon you. Am I showing disrespect tomorrow by watching Netflix instead of Ayr United v Partick Thistle?

  16. I dont think people hated her as an individual, more what she represents and where her families status and money have come from. As for her "service" I couldnt tell you one thing she stood for or one thing she was passionate about in terms of improving the lives of everyday people. She had the power and influence to make significant changes to people and yet she chose to become no more than a show pony, a trinket to be wheeled out to show the world that the British Empire is alive and well. At this point, the royals are no more than glorified reality TV celebrities adorned in colonised gold. Am i glad she's dead? I honestly dont care one way or the other. But the way this country has reacted is quite frankly embarrassing. If people feel a connection to her and want to mourn, of course by all means do that in peace, but let everyone else get on with it.

  17. Utter nonsense postponing the fixture its fawning sycophantic nonsense. The Press, Broadcasters and the establishment have read this all wrong. 12 days of this is going piss off a lot of people. Want to mourn and show respect ? fine on you go. But don't impose it on the majority that are showing a mass respectful display of indifference and getting on with their day to day lives.

  19. Probably similar to how Darren Ferguson felt when Sir Alex stood down at Old Trafford and he realised that he was next in line for the top job at Man Utd. Oh sorry forgot, that’s not how it works in most of the real world.

  20. Sorry that I’m not doing the choreographed tears and snotters. She had a very long and outrageously privileged life. My thoughts are with the pensioners who die alone in poverty in their freezing cold council flats.

  22. Get the fucking game on. Folk, like me, have got travel booked and paid for which we can get f**k all back for if the game doesn’t go ahead. And I have literally zero interest in travelling to Arbroath on a Wednesday night. If you are so upset by the death of the Queen, stay in the fucking house and let normal folk get on with the things they enjoy.

  23. It's weirdly fascinating seeing folk on social media trying to out-grieve one another. How the f**k can someone be "heartbroken" at the death of a 96 year old billionairess they'd never met or seen in person. Absolute fucking no-righters.

  24. Nae fitba or gigs, but make sure ye still get to yer work. Obviously this profound period of introspection and mourning should only impact leisure activities and feel like a punishment to many people.

  25. I strongly suspect it will be off this weekend but black armbands, flags at half mast and a minutes silence should be respectful enough. If someone feels strongly about it that they need to mourn let them go to stand outside Holyrood Palace with a bunch of flowers but don’t force your views on me. I am sad that an old lady, loving mother and grandmother has passed on but no more so than if it was the lady that lives a few doors down from me.

  26. I don't like the concept of royalty, but am neither up nor down about the death of the head of the UK royal family. Possibly I'm one of the older posters on here, but don't fall into the category suggested by @Frank Grimes above: my bile is directed towards the SPFL and SFA, noting cricket resumes tomorrow, rugby league and golf too, horse racing on Sunday, the Great North Run with 60,000 taking part. It's an idiotic decision to postpone football games, costing supporters and clubs large sums of cash , the very groups that the football authorities are supposed to represent and assist. By the time these games are played we'll be deeper into the recession, but the daft cunts that made the cancellation decision won't even have had that thought enter their heads.

  31. Fucking total farce if they are off which it sounds likely. Sure Scotrail will happily hand the money back for the folk that have forked out for tickets to go up for games aswell. Meanwhile every non-sporting entertainment industry will continue. If you want to not go to football and mourn, feel free to do so, just as when anyone else dies. If you don’t give a flying f**k you should be able to continue as normal.

  36. I remember being public enemy one down in Yorkshire when our Scout group went down there caving for the weekend of Diana's funeral. Lots of people parked up in the Dales with portable TVs in their caravans / campervans, going apeshit at us as they saw us dressed in caving kit. Still remember "How dare you have fun during the funeral of our princess!!!", followed by my (then 13 or 14yo) mate lighting the torch paper by replying with "f*** off, we're Scottish!". He genuinely had the old biddie shouting at a bunch of teenagers in a state of tears.

  37. Despite not playing when they should have been, as a mark of respect, every club will, as a mark of respect have a minutes silence, wear black armbands etc when they do start playing again. Because (Normal Island) some clubs will insist on having a home fixture commemoration, sevco in particular will want marines abseiling and a special remembrance tank firing a sadness cannon. By which point it will probably be Armistice day and we'll have to have more special dead Queen membering silences until Christmas. 2025.

  38. Anyone care to show their working on how cancelling football games, or any form of entertainment for that matter, equates to a ‘mark of respect’? Doubt she’d have been arsed if Falkirk vs Alloa went ahead or not, to be honest. On a wider scale, you’re going to have people across the country who will have booked trains, hotels etc and workers who might rely on money from these shifts having them cancelled at short notice. Riddy and a half.

  43. Had a weird one today. Heard that Liz had snuffed it on the way to visit my 94 year old mother who's in hospital with heart trouble. Was wondering whether to tell her or not because she admires her, and they're a similar age. Forgot all about it when the nurse told me the treatment had gone well and hopefully she'll be home in the next couple of days. Her sister is 107 so I'm sure she'll survive the shock when she finds out.
